I recommend getting 7 mil or 9 mil thickness nitrile gloves. I've used those thin 5 mil ones while working on rusty cars for 20 years and they tear so easily. I got a box of 9 mil and they're AWESOME!!! They last MUCH longer for about 2-3x the price of 5 mil.

They make commutator draw blades just for that purpose. I got carried away once on a GM starter and went pretty deep. Sounded like a Mopar starter afterward....lol.Chinese-made router....commutators are cheap if available.
I dont use sand paper.. I use fine plastic finger mail file or fine metal file.since brushed are even i want the contacts to be even as well send paper will help but better to use something solid like sanding block

That is a hit or miss thing. I had this defect three times. This repair worked once. Be happy when it does. It's a decent machine! But I'm not a fan of applying solder to the rotor. That beast rotates FAST. If you get it out of balance, it will quickly vibrate itself to death.

Because when it breaks, it doesn't hurt, and I just buy another one. I don't cut stone or anything in a badly ventilated area with my good tools. That dust gets sucked in and damages everything inside. Better be a cheap tool to suck it up.
So interesting...So all the elongated commutator bars should be in contact. The ones that were not making contact indicated the fault ?? I don't know if I've accurately assessed what's going on here without technical knowledge hehe

There's couple of things you can check,1 check the carbon brushes 2-your bearings or bushes might worn out,on turning it on armature magnetized to the core.
@@DIY_ALAM I took it apart today. No brushes? It’s a simple motor. Just power to wrapped copper wire and a metal shaft that spins in the center. I checked everything today. All connections good. At one point it started working!! But started buzzing again. Thanks for your help

@@savinocueva5207 Just buy a two-prong plug with screw lugs, a socket with pigtails (wires) with an E12 sized socket, an _incadescent_ bulb (oder online, 25w, 40w, 60w, choose), two meters of same gauge wire that the socket has, and some wire nuts for your gauge wire. Cut wire into two pieces of one meter apiece. Cut _one_ of the pieces in half to make 1/2 meter pieces. Strip to accept wire nuts. Strip pigtails on socket. Install in this order: • Take plug in hand (access one prong's screw lug). • Take 1 meter wire piece. Screw to plug lug screw. You are done with one prong. That now is one complete test lead. • Take plug in hand (same plug, but will be using other prong). • Take 1/2 meter wire, screw to plug's other lug screw. • Twist one pigtal stripped end to other stripped end of 1/2 meter wire, and then install wire nut. • Twist other pigtal onto other 1/2 meter wire and install wire nut. You are done with other prong. And now you have the other test lead. Screw in the bulb and connect the leads to see if bulb lights after plugging in. Please don't shock yourself. You'll notice that one side from plug is one meter long and the other is about 1.5 to 1.75 meters long making the setup a bit lopsided (because of the added length the socket and pigtails add). You can level it up by just figuring out wire lengths by just fiddling. Get 2.5 meters of wire instead, and make the straight lead without the socket 1.5 meters long as a good starting point. As an added bonus, and for North American code, if one prong is wider than the other, you can check to see if your house grounds are complete. Google for that info. Hope you get the idea. HTH

I think the problem was the type of spark, not sparking in general. At first, the sparking was coming from a specific place and there was also sound of electric shorting, meaning that is a short. At the end, the sparking was coming from rotation, which can be normal with brushed tools. I could be wrong thought.
This tool made sparks. Multimeters only give values and most of the times these values are very very close to each other, making it difficult to find where exactly is the short circuit in the commutator.

Your grinder most likely has a “capacitor start motor”. The capacitor jumpstarts the motor to get it started. Replace that capacitor.
Your end plate bearings are worn out that's why the rotor magnetized by the stator. Replace it and it will go back to normal operation

This tool made sparks. Multimeters only give values and most of the times these values are very very close to each other, making it difficult to find where exactly is the short circuit in the commutator.
