    Some vacuum motors do have magnets!

  • @jumpthecrusader6117
    @jumpthecrusader6117 4 місяці тому

    Here's the thing about these motors they are designed to be very high rpms so as a generator it'll work but with very high rpms tho wonder if you make the outer windings permanent Magnets. How much better that would be!

  • @skeller0160
    @skeller0160 7 років тому +7

    Seems like you would have to create a lot of RPM's to make any useable amount of electricity. If this was supposed to be a motor to be used in a wind generator then I suppose you could put it in a hurricane.

      @@andyopiecak54 pulley adds friction which greatly reduces the efficiency, same with gears. A simple wind turbine would not even turn your pulley system unless the blades were massive and if you have access to a massive turbine you might as well get a motor that has the specs for the job...
      Tldr: can be done but extremely impractical and inefficient

      There’s 2 small motors inside a PS4 or Xbox controller for the the vibration function, they can run off pretty much any battery

    This makes me think about turbo generators. Used on trucks to generate electrical power. Hold it to your tail pipe, or does it only work when you suck on it?

    Its either fake or hes been lucky by having found a vacuum motor that actually can work as a generator. But either way, a vacuum cleaner wouldnt provide enough suction to spin this motor to the desired RPM to light up that bulb, there are too many loses of energy.
    Hoax. Unless hes got a really airtight vacuum cleaner and the motor itself also is that airtight.
    Ehh, idk. Check your motors to see that, havent been lucky with any, although they do generate some miniscule voltage.
    It is "only" a 21W bulb after all. Just not worth the hassle.

    I have just removed a motor from a Dyson Hot/Cold, I want to use the motor connected to a Wind Turbine I'm printing in PETG. There are 8 wires to the motor, RED and BLACK which are slightly thicker, I believe these are power, but what are the WHITE, PINK, PURPLE, GREEN and YELLOW wires?

    • @ThomasKim
      @ThomasKim  Рік тому

      Assume a BLDC motor. BLDC motors receive direct current and control the current with MOSFETs or IGBTs. A diode attached for protection acts as a rectifying diode for the generator when the motor rotates, resulting in a DC output. The remaining wires are terminals for control signals.

    Can someone please explain, how a universal motor can act as a generator? I don't understand because there are no magnets in this type of motor, nor are there electro magnets when applied as as a generator. Very interesting.

      Charge of rotating motor turns part of it into a electromagnet, electromagnet then acts like magnets in a generator.

    • @FerhatYoleem
      @FerhatYoleem 5 років тому +1

      Yes we can produce. But it is necessary to draw a current from the output. Electric current is produced by permanent magnetism in the stator and rotor. As the current draws from the generator, the magnetism in the stator and rotor increases. For the first current, the permanent magnetism in the stator and the rotor is sufficient.

    Really interesting!!! BTW, I just found in a "exchange fair" (I don't know the correct name in English) a dc motor from a vacuum cleaner. (One of those with 8 AA batteries.) Don't know how - yet - but I'm going to make a vacuum cleaner with it, but with a 3s lifepo battery pack. :) So, a lot of fun ahead. LOL

We call it "feira do rolo". BTW, I got a HobbyKing remote there too (here it would cost R$240 and I paid R$20, LOL). Well, I think you got the idea. :)

    its practically the inverse working of a Tesla turbine. you could make an opening at the periphery of the turbine and blow steam or compressed air and it would come out of the middle. cool. a DC generator.

      i think that part of the experiment is changeable and just some work used to turn the motor. The motor dont have to be connected to the fan, nor does he need to used the blower to blow air to move the fan which rotates the motor. he can build a hand crank or use wind etc. . .

      If it's not plugged in the vacuum motor will not turn and then will not produce electricity

      he uses the blower because he wants compressed air to go through that port so we just need to get compressed air into the port. there are plenty of ways to do this without using electricity or that specific blower he used.
      machines are supposed to help us do work, anyway. One must not be too lazy and shall get to pumpin' if you want some thing. - me 2018
