    Good review thanks. I own one of these. I totally agree the trim wheel is brilliant. the throttle quadrant is certainly mechanically substandard but easily remedied (I use icecream sticks to pack the gap and secure them using heat shrink) (easy peasy). As a vr user I have a number of suggestions that would help it become a rollsroyce controller.
    1)- the 10 programmable switches are difficult to differentiate by feel alone. Perhaps some braille type bumps would help here.
    2)- locking buttons on the vernier controls so you don't move them while feeling for them.
    3)-an adjustable nut on the end of the throttle quadrant to adjust the resistance of all levers.

  • @flyhalf2
    @flyhalf2 2 роки тому +6

    A suggestion. Use the B2 button to reset your view and use HAT-2 up/down to control increase/retract flaps. These controls fall easily to hand so ideal if flying in VR. Karl Gosling, in his scathing review, highlighted a possible cause of the sticking yoke: it is more noticeable when only using one hand on the yoke like you do in RL. So the cause is more likely slight binding because there is not equal side/up/down pressure on the shaft.
    I will try your dead zone and sensitivity settings

    I bought mine few months ago now. Playing on Xbox. I love it... the only thing i'd say is the stickiness of the plastic, i've been playing a lot now and it's still seems to be there, it's quite difficult to make small inputs. Other than that, I love it :D

    I personally love my V1. There are a couple little things that you mentioned in you Vlog that I would like to have seen done better, but for the price point and the versatility of the V1 it's hard to go wrong. I use the working little a lot and they are very welcome add. Also, the GA and Throttle Quadrant is a Great feature and a lot of veristically to the throttle body. As for the yoke centering that does loosen up some after using for a while and smooths out. Overall, I highly recommend the hardware add on for sure. Thanks for the review and we will see you on the stream.

      I'm glad to hear that the yoke centering loosens up with time, as that is my only gripe. I would have preferred the yoke to move freely fore and aft. Either side of centre mine requires a strong push forward or strong pull back. It's a bit annoying when you are trying to be precise close to the centre point so fingers crossed it will improve... 🤞

    Well done review. I bought this for nephew and xbox. It is rare to find a quad that has a vernier style throttle and a lever style. Trim wheels are excellent practice. The vernier are not fully functional but for price not deal breaker. This is a great addition to xbox portability. But alas, if you have desktop, the alpha yoke and bravo quad are far superior at $500 for both. I own both as well as V3rnio fully functional vernier style throttles. Of course at $1000 for v3rnio it is near perfect, it beter be.

    Was told today by Turtle Beach that they are not doing any more work on it to be fully compatible with Xbox for example they said they don’t plan on having the lights on the sip panel working like they do on computer and that they don’t have any further plans or updates for it at all. So mad at Turtle Beach take your money and say no more updates so have fun with a product that is at 1/2 potential

    • @JamesDavidWalley

      I think that’s not quite what they said. What they have posted on their Discord is that they need to wait for SU10 to incorporate that; so they’re not currently working on it until that update is released this August.

    Must say very disappointed to see a deadzone issue in there. Much like the old Saitek Yoke (don't know what the new logitech version is like). I found this so annoying that a couple of years after I bought mine (which is a long time ago now), I modded mine with an additional controller card (from Leo Bodnar) and took out the springs and put in rubber bands in to keep tension at all points.
    The yoke pitch to me is the most important thing to get right, as flair is the most critical part of flying, having the mechanical and electronic deadzone is unforgivable these days.
    I admit for the cheaper options this looks good, but if you can afford it I would look at the Honeycomb system, I have the Beta and it is just awesome for feel and use, though I do realise the price is higher. Looking at this system I would class it as a beginner/introductory system, if you are looking to get into flight simulation.

    Hey mate, I’m thinking of getting this velocity one unit for my Xbox, I seen the turtle beach stand for it is very overpriced.. So I’m just going to buy a much cheaper racing wheel stand for it.. (buying the rudder pedals as well which will be bolting to the pedal plate on the stand)
    So here is my question, the racing wheel stands base plate that the yoke will sit on, isn’t very wide .. It’s about as wide as the yoke unit, so the throttle quadrant will have no support under it, once plugged into the yoke unit.. Do you think this will be an issue without any support under it? Does it feel fairly solid when snapped into place on the flight yoke unit?
    Thanks

    The Cessna style throttle quadrant would be nice if it had been more realistically sized with the same functionality as real plane where the knobs twist and the buttons lock the push/pull function along with a throttle friction lock. The small size of the throttle quadrant makes it feel more like a toy.
    I was eagerly looking forward to trying out this yoke, but after a friend got his a few months back and I gave it a test run, let's just say that I didn't find a reason to ditch my trusty CH Products yoke and waste my money on a Velocity One.

    • @renatoigmed
      @renatoigmed 7 місяців тому

      @pdubsyyyy Man, it's so difficult to understand that the intention of this thing is to REPRODUCE reality and in real life there are physical forces acting in different situations and this IMPLIES aerodynamic forces acting on an aircraft in flight being transmitted through the control surface areas to the controls for example , if you turn left or right (roll) the forces acted on the ailerons will DEPEND on the speed where the more speed on the wings the harder the controls will be. I'm talking about aircraft with direct or hydraulic cable control.
