Thanks Danny! So much support from y’all on this video, I’m blown away! This is the first video I’ve used the full pro video editor on so I’m excited to only get better with video quality.
I just registered my little Jon Boat today, I might be seeing you out on the water soon. Keep up the good work and keep the videos coming. I appreciate how detail oriented your videos are. Tight Lines!
You seem like a genuine dude hope the channel takes off. Just bought my first pedal kayak today. Hobie outback. Fishing out of eastern nc. Tight lines brother 🤟🏼
Thanks! I want to add value without coming off as a “know it all”. In my first videos I was a little more timid about giving tips because I didn’t want to sound like one. However, I got so many messages asking me questions like what I’m using and how I’m using it. Slowly I added more informative content to my videos and now I focus on it.
I usually do a line to line connection using two universal knots. If I’m using a bait caster and have smaller guides I’ll use an FG knot. I’ll do a demo at some point but it’s easy to find a tutorial with those names.
Thanks. Appreciate it, just rigged them up with 2 uni knots. Plan to get out this week. Son and I have Hobie passports. Thoroughly enjoy the challenge. We've used live bait mostly but ready to try some plastic
Nice day out with a ton of trout put in the boat, dude! I like how you worked the entire water column for those trout, kept experimenting around...Spook Jr on top, suspended hardbait in the middle and paddletails and shrimp lures for middle to bottom. Nice overslot red as icing on the cake! Thanks for sharing. Although I'm a pretty experienced inshore guy, I always learn a thing or two. You're a talented angler, my friend!
I can tell you know what you’re doing by breaking down what I was doing like that! I appreciate your comments and time. That red was fun and beautiful!
@@CurrentAngling I also appreciate your ability to find the fish, by considering current flow, structure, what the bait and birds are telling us, and the weather (water and air temps, sunlight, wind, fronts, tides, moon cycles, etc.). Because, as the pros tell us, 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water! Tight lines!
I’m in Stuart Florida. My largest trout was 31 1/4 inches off a 9 inch live mullet thought it was a tarpon at first till I got it in didn’t seem right because it wasn’t jumping. Great videos by the way!
@@CurrentAngling I hear that!haha I went out to the water treatment plant from the Wappoo Bridge last Tuesday - it poured down rain the whole time, but I stuck it out for four hours 😅 Caught some nice Black Drum!
Thank you again Great info for a dry lander like me who is trying to figure out this wet land. Thanks for the story of what you went through. Now I feel normal.
Former dry landers unite! Doesn’t that just make the water that much more fascinating though? I used to sneak onto golf courses because that was the only fish able water in 100 miles. Here there near endless waterways to explore and fish to target. Love it!
We must unite. LOL WHEN I RACED MOTOCROSS. I THOUGHT ALL GOLF COURSES SHOULD BE MOTOCROSS TRACKS. NOW DAYS as A SERIOUS FISHERMAN I'M JUST JEALOUS OF THEIR PONDS FULL OF fish.
Yes I love it! That vanford is the best spinning reel I’ve ever owned. Not just light but also 20# of drag, smooth, and crisp! Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Good job dude. Love the info. I moved up from fla but didn't do too much inshore fishing. Did some cut bait and caught some reds. Seen some rolling, and they were huge. Love the info you been giving us. Keep it coming.
Thanks! I come from a big game hunting background out west (ua-cam.com/play/PLHjlm-i-0H9OmZa8LdIcCWpqJOunwpkRP.html&feature=shared), so I try to put the hunt into my fishing style and am constantly moving and adjusting. Throwing artificials suits my style better than cut or live bait.
Great video brother and great cause for your club. We are doing our annual publix safety take a kid shopping trip next month. Great info as always brother see you soon
@CurrentAngling thank you brother yes it is that time to give back to others and realize how blessed we are brother. Happy holidays to you and your family
Hey man, just the tips I've been looking for lately. Been killing the redfish lately here in Beaufort, SC - but I've been having a tough time finding the trout. I'll have to give that yo-zuri twitch bait a try 👍🏻 tight lines!
Great video. I just found your channel and I like how you explain what you are doing and why. I fish the Beaufort/Hilton Head area a good bit and I've caught more trout on electric chicken paddle tails than any other bait. I like seeing you release the fish you catch. I tell my friends who ask why I don't keep the fish I catch "I'm not mad at them, I just want to catch them". I fish out of a classic Montauk 17 Boston Whaler but your videos make me curious about kayak fishing.
That’s awesome! I enjoy kayak fishing but enjoy the water in whatever way gets you out there. I just find a kayak to be convenient, quiet, and maneuverable. Electric chicken is awesome, especially in low visibility water. I’m looking to post a new video tomorrow so look out for it. Also, I throw most back and practice safe handling but I’ll keep a couple here and there for dinner!
Mine is a med power X fast action 7’. I prefer a ML rod for most inshore; however, I’ve lost some stud fish around docks not having the power to stop them. When I ordered the Avid I decided on the Med and am happy with it. Still light but stiff enough to stop them.
Kayak club is the Lowcountry Kayak Anglers. We have a Facebook group and do a bunch of meet ups in person, tournaments and virtual tournaments inshore and bass. Some of our events benefit charities like Toys 4 tots or Heroes on the water. Check the club out on FB. Also, thanks for watching!
Good stuff man. I always try to use artificials and usually end up giving up in an hour after getting skunked. Then I switch to live bait and crush it. Definitely want to get better throwing lures!
I fish fast, moving around to new spots constantly. Flinging artificial gives me the freedom of movement and ability to get a bait exactly where I want it. I fished almost exclusively live or cut my first few years inshore fishing. Thanks for watching!
I use to exclusively fly fish with guides. Then I Bought a kayak and switched to baitcasters and spinning reels with artificial lures. Now I bought a boat with a livewell and I'm going to learn to fish with live bait just for those times when there is so much bait in the water that a fly or artificial just won't get it done!
@JiminSC it’s great to be versatile! I was using a shimano chronarch bait caster for all my hard baits and spin for the plastics. However, I need to replace a bearing and haven’t gotten around to it. I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Garmin Striker 9” model before the vivid. It’s great for the value, I think I paid 350 two years ago at an academy online sale. I didn’t need the map in a kayak. For a side scan you can beat that for price. However, don’t expect to see fish on side with it, just structure
I used to use it a little more often, I’ll use it with live bait more than artificial but it definitely works! I used it a good bit in this video with live shrimp ua-cam.com/video/wJK7uZ3iFWo/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
Hate treble hooks. Do you ever change them out for in-line and would that work? Also, looking to join a kayak fishing group once I move down to Charleston (this coming spring). I’m mostly a largemouth fisherman and have a peddle kayak. Are you with Lowcountry Kayak Anglers?
Yes I hate them too! A couple videos back, I caught a redfish on a Baby Bucca bull shad that I had changed out for in line hooks. Check it out starting around 45 secs ua-cam.com/video/_NkYWATcGC4/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
The beauty of a paddle tail is how versatile it is. I don’t fish it just one way but start faster and higher on the water column with a constant retrieve, if I’m not finding active fish I’ll slow down, bumping it on the bottom and dead sticking it for a few seconds. In the video I was mostly letting it sink, reeling in slack, dragging it on the bottom by lifting the rod tip, reeling down the slack and repeating. Being intentional to only progress the lure by the lifting of the rod and only using the reel for the slack. This slows the retrieve and allows you to feel the bottom well. Particularly important as the water gets cold this winter. Downsize profile and work deep and slow. Hope this helps, it is difficult to answer straight forward with so many variables.
So, so helpful for this newbie- thank you!
Here to help 💪
Thank you for introducing me to the greasy prawn On a eye strike
Hands down it has been the best artificial bait I have ever used!
That combo is stupid good right?
@@CurrentAngling unbeatable
With the procure too!

As usual - great video! Semper Fi!
Semper Fi! Thanks again!
Great video! Can you explain how you connect your mono filament to your braided line without a swivel?
I usually do a line to line connection using two universal knots. If I’m using a bait caster and have smaller guides I’ll use an FG knot. I’ll do a demo at some point but it’s easy to find a tutorial with those names.

I’d argue the actual number is much less than 10% especially as winter approaches.
You give me too much credit!
I’m also loving the Shimano Miravel 3000 which comes with the T handle. Paired it up with the Cortland braid 10lb. 💰
Never tried that one thanks for the suggestion.
Another great video Man, as always very informative! Great Job

How do you fish the electric chicken? Steady retrieve? Medium speed?
