- Sight fishing in Charleston for over slot redfish and catching an inshore slam.
I set off for a few quick hours on the morning of Fathers Day with hopes of catching some of my favorite saltwater fish, redfish, speckled sea trout, and flounder!

Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Good stuff Corey! Recently using a Z-man PaddleZ Slam Shady 5" in NC got a lot of bites. Unfortunately we can't keep the flounder though.
Thanks! That’s too bad flounder are so amazing 🍽️. This is actually my first video!
Cool intro. What area is that? Are there many communities that have access like that ?
Hey Corey, You are the man! I filtered your videos from oldest to newest and I plan on watching all of them to expand my knowledge. Im currently on the "Under docks" video right now, but I thought Id leave a comment on your first video so you'd see it. I recently moved to SC and bought a kayak and plan on taking it out soon. I've looked through your description of the video to your amazon links and my question was what is the best Universal spinning set up for rod and reel and Mostly what #lb LINE for the bays targeting redfish, trout, and flounder. I assume a 6.6 - 7ft medium/light/fast rod and a 3000 sz reel (idk if this is even correct). But my MAIN question is what line to put on there? I see above you have blue label fluoro 20#. Would that be a good line for me to use to catch those species? Should I put 20# braid on the reel and then uni to uni the 20# fluoro leader? Or should I just do the fluoro on the whole thing? Or is there something completely different that I should do? A response would be greatly appreciated. Thanks man.
Hey! I really appreciate you checking out my videos and commenting.
For almost everything inshore I use a 7ft med weight fast action rod. I like St. Croix rods but there are other good options. I like a 3000 size reel. Some good reel options in price order are Penn fierce, Penn battle, Diawa BG, Shimano stradic, Shimano Vanford. I put 15-20 # power pro braid main line then use a uni-unit knot to tie a 18-24” leader of 15-20# fluorocarbon. Loop knot to lures or uni to terminal. Hope this helps!
@@CurrentAngling Hey Corey Thanks so much for the tips! I have assembled a pretty good setup based on your advice. One more question for you though. I have 15lb braid on my reel as my main line, should I use 15lb fluoro as my leader as well? Or should I bump up the leader to 20lb. Ive seen people put 15lb leader on 15lb braid and Ive also seen people put 20lb leader on 15 lb braid. Wondering what the protocol is there. Thank you so much for the help. Youve really inspired me to get out on the water!
I really think you are fine with either. If you plan to fish around docks and get cut off on barnacles and oysters then maybe move to 20#.
3:51 swirl at you 11 : 30
Good eye! Did you see the other redfish wake off the point while I was bringing it in?
What were you using?
Hey! I was throwing two different color swim baits. Both made by Zman called 3” Diezel minnowz. The first color was “rootbeer” I threw on lower incoming tide as water was cloudy. As the water cleared up I switched to “opening night” which is white/translucent. Both rigged on a Owner flashy swimmer underspin with willow blade. I love the extra thump and bling of a underspin when it’s windy and low visibility!
Is this near Bulow Landing?
It’s not Bulow but I have launched there many times. Plenty to catch there!
@@CurrentAngling gotcha. Yup! Love fishing from Bulow. The houses you walked by looked super similar!
