Shoutout to the Playframe runs of Eureka and ultimately the BA run through explaining the details of the entire dang raid. The raid takes about an hour, even if you do it correctly.
One of the most beloved mounts in XIV being a IX reference fills me with joy. If you want to get the mount I highly recommend going through the journey of Eureka. Even if you're like me and Pint who get nervous about human interaction at times, joining a Eureka discord and signing up for and experiencing the Baldesion Arsenal is a memory I will forever cherish and I wish I hadn't waited until Shadowbringers to actually do BA and finish the Eureka questline.
Oh yeah Absolute Virtue is a legendary brutal boss from 11. The 18 hour to beat thing is NOT hyperbole. There were some articles on it bc of players passing out, vomiting in buckets etc.
And every attempt that succeeded in taking it down was considered by Square to be against TOS. Final Fantasy Peasent has a great video on the history of the Absolute Virtue fight.
people keep attributing this event to Absolute Virtue when it was the ZNM final boss Pandemonium Warden . when it was first introduced it had a ton of different forms and this was the fight that a group attempted for 18 hours and gave up after going through over 10 forms and thinking there was still around 6 more. After some bad press, Pandemonium Warden and by retrospect Absolute Virtue got nerfed so hard that they were killed a ton before they got adjusted again to fix the over adjustment they did.
Yeah, the one that people fought for 18 hours (and still didn't win btw, they gave up) was Pandemonium Warden. Absolute Virtue was a whole other mess. PW was eventually beaten post-nerf, but NO-ONE ever beat AV as intended; whenever people found some clever workaround (I remember hearing something about a whole alliance of DRKs spamming one of their abilities) they ended up getting banned or suspended, those who didn't were ordered to discard the loot they got, and the workaround was patched out. It wasn't killed at all until the level cap was raised and everyone just outgeared it. The problem was that AV was a puzzle boss in a game full of damage sponge tank-n-spank type bosses, with no clues whatsoever as to its nature. Not only were the players not told that AV was a puzzle, the game didn't tell you when you solved it. Turns out, if it uses one of its copied ultimate player abilities (such as WHM's Benediction to fully heal itself, which it can do ANY TIME IT WANTS while the player has a 1 hour cooldown (was 2 hours back then)), and then a player of that class uses the same skill within a 2-second window, AV's version of the ability is sealed for the rest of the pull. There are no clues whatsover that this is what you're supposed to do, no confirmation message when it works, nothing. Also, since the servers were all located in Japan, it might have been physically impossible for an NA player to do it because of latency; apparently bots hooked up to packet readers to time it perfectly still didn't always work. Also, killing the adds on one of the pre-req bosses reduces its ridiculous HP regen to something manageable, as does casting the element-of-the-day spells in ascending order (e.g. casting Stone>Stone 2>Stone 3>Stone 4 on Earthday). Again, no clues, no feedback. The raiders in Baldesion Arsenal having to spawn the Tristitia FATE in Hydatos for the people outside to kill in order to nerf XIV's version of AV to something killable was a reference to that, but the game actually gave some feedback about things happening to clue the players in to the puzzle.
In terms of the abilities Dark Knights used it was actually a combination of two called Souleater and the (at the time) 2Hr ability Blood Weapon. how it worked was Souleater sacrificed HP in order to deal extra damage while Blood Weapon healed for the damage it dealt. Combine this with a multi-attacking weapon like the Kraken Club and a ton of haste and you can deal insane damage in a short amount of time. This was a legit strategy that was used in previous endgame related fights (Dynamis Lord, Bahamut, Relic weapons for example). the main problem happened was because in their knee-jerk reaction to Nerf AV/PW they went in the opposite direction and set their HP lower then planed. due to this it enabled groups to defeat AV a whole bunch of times in a short span of time until they fixed it. one of these fixes was to add a resistance specifically against Souleater and they added a 2hr spawn time limit to AV /PW where they would leave if not defeated in the time limit as well as increased the HP amounts. @@jacks1368
My experience in both Eureka and Brownja has been that it's frowned upon to not like them. They both seem to be kinda ran by the Discords that run their respective dungeons and raids. At least on Crystal. So you kinda have to pretend to be having fun so you don't get blacklisted.

But generally no one enjoys a negative nancy, so if you're just there for the rewards there is no need to make others experience lesser by constantly shitting on it.. Either grit your teeth and get the grind done with or don't do it, it's entirely optional.

That was an artistic "literal" about "literally" all other quests having markers. There are a small number of side quests that specifically warn you in a pop-up question about being marker-less quests, strewn throughout ARR and Heaven's Ward. Eureka taught me the wonders of the tag in chat. ^^ Don't forget to call out Elemental Fairies in chat when you spot them. ;)
My time in Eureka is often like Bozja or the Diadem. People ask silly questions, I answer them. I once spent an hour giving an impromptu class on bread baking in /shout because someone asked a question about using starters alongside dry yeast and I was the only one who had the answers.
Timely! I tried making some bao yesterday but they didn't rise as much as I expected. I proofed the yeast and I thought it seemed nice and foamy, but it also expires in the next month or so, so could it have been because my yeast packet was old and tired?
Kind of surprised he barely glossed over the 'support' NM. Finding a hidden portal and clearing out 6 rooms (landmines 1st then mobs once everyone is ready and you get locked into your assigned room) and activating their buttons. I personally havent really been back in Eureka since around the end of Stormblood (took me 3 runs to get the clear for Ozma) but sometimes i hear it calling, mostly because of those bloody 'bunnies' that refuse to hand over the pyros and hydatos mounts
Yup! Everyone says Pagos is the worst part, but there were some really nice people that made it a smooth journey, and just hanging around, waiting for NMs to spawn while wasting away in shout chat was super nostalgic.
@@Armydillo62o Pagos itself is kind of rough design wise but after leaving anemos you're left with only genuine eureka enjoyers, players at this point have bought into the eureka vision and they're honestly some of the nicest players I've had the pleasure of playing with.
in FF14, good number of enemies have diffrent triggers, elementals normally only agrro if they detect spell being casted, and things without eyes, like morbols, detect by sound.
It should be noted that eureka has been heavily nerfed and many people who do it now have had enough time to over gear for the fights and farm logograms for massive power boosts but its still enjoyabel also one of the sickest tank/drg/rpr armor in the game I really hope dawntrail brings this back somehow as though I did enjoy bozja eureka still feels difficult (not as much but still) while with the exception of delibrum reginae bozja is pretty simple
In the first few days after this video came out every zone was like 70% warriors. I have a screen shit from pagos with i think 16 warriors working on getting one nm to spawn it's hilarious
My friend hasn't messed around in Eureka in a few years, and said it never occurred to him that the change to Raw Intuition for 6.0 would be so beneficial in Eureka, since it didn't work like that at ALL when Eureka was current.
@@KZorander yeah I did some eureka before 6.0 and the rest in the last week or so and the change was enormous. I'm a Warrior main so it didn't even occur to me to swap for it specifically but RI literally let me get from 28-60 in like 3 or 4 days
1st Eureka was based on ffxi , The nms are from ffxi and some gear from ffxi . So its was supposed to be played in similar style , but its ffxiv so people find go arounds lol . I love ffxi so eureka i loved .
So while I've never run into BA even though I've been max leveled in Eureka for years, I can confirm that the Eureka community is extremely helpful. Heck im like 90% sure I've been in parties with Big Green just casually farming lockboxes since the name is really familiar. Really need to actually DO BA just so I can wash my hands of Eureka. Never liked Eureka/Bozja but sometimes the mindless grind is nice.
BA these days is actually fairly simple. Especially if you are at al familiar with higher end content. People have it down to a science and following the crowd works 99% of the time
I've been at the beginning of Eureka for ages and wanted to finish it eventually, maybe once I finish my level grind (only a few more jobs) I will finally go ham.
I played FF11 online for almost 8 years and I told myself I'll never subject myself into that madness again. Which is why I skipped Eureka. Everything about it is basically lite version of FF11 online. Not only does mobs that can see and hear, there are mobs with blood scent. When your HP is less than max, those fuckers aggros. And if one of you hits you, more and more scent your blood. Which quickly becomes a train of mobs behind you.
Best Girl? I would throw Krile into the sea and think nothing of it. I think it's because she's too like me and somehow that drives me insane to deal with her.

@@katarh Probably not- if it foamed, it was alive and kicking. Likely bets are ambient temperature and possibly overproofing time-wise.

Pagos itself is rough at low element levels, but the people are rad and I've had some great farm parties there.
