Amidst all the doomposting about monk and their rotation changes, it's good to see someone who's excited about them all. I'm cautiously optimistic as well but holding everything till we get more info on skills, however I'm really glad someone's broken the mold and provides some positivity for a change. I mean, I didn't even register the upgraded skills until I just rewatched it now. They do look really nice.
Which is funny, because during the live letter afterwards they actually explained what is happening. Instead of managing buff timers instead using one action empowers the others. From looking at the new gauge, it seems that dragonkick empowers your next bootshine, one of the raptor actions (probably twin snakes) empowers your next 2 true strikes, and demolish (instead of being a dot) empowers your next 3 snap punches. It's possible that these "empowered" charges work for any action for the associated stances, hard to say as we didn't see it (but let's be honest, you'll always want to empower the strongest action for each stance). Overall, the rotation probably isn't changing all that much, they're just switching from getting buffs with timers to a gauge. ie you already want to alternate dragonkick and bootshine due to leaden fist, but now you don't have to worry about leaden fist expiring if you don't use it in time because it's stored in the gauge. Likewise, you'd generally use twin snakes every 3rd cycle to maintain the dmg buff, now instead of it being a general dmg buff it's now just a direct buff to your next 2 true strikes, and since it's no longer a buff you don't need to worry about it falling off when doing PB stuff or when the boss goes untargetable. I know some people like this type of micromanagement and needing to figure out how to adjust to compensate on the fly, and so may not like that the bonus effects of these actions now last until used instead of having time limits to manage....but honestly this just seems like a more reasonable design (assuming these interpretations are accurate).
@@phiefer3 I will say I *did* like the micromanagement it had, but like I will agree it's not the most complicated nor important thing. MNK abilities are really taking full advantage of the updated graphics with very lifelike flame particle FX. Having an 'aura' during MNKs primed phase seems well within the realm of possibility if we look to RPR 'Enshroud' and the /PowerUp emote as previous proofs of concept.

Yeah that new gauge has confused the f out of me lol. And no more being forced to sit in the corner of a boss fight and crying while waiting for the point blank aoe to be over, we can finally do something useful!
Big W for you given how recent weeks or so have been. I actually didn't notice the upgrade to Elixir Field until watching this and I've watched the job action trailer at least half a dozen times. As for the aura thing, give me swirling wind and an immolation effect for riddles of wind and fire (which precede each of those ranged attacks, btw)...I'll still main tank for my raid team but MNK is definitely my first dps I'm leveling up. 😃
So the buff/debuff combo attacks now grant those new sigils according to their stance instead of the buff/debuff. The damage combo attacks consume 1 each to boost their potency. Resulting in a 72 GCD rotation for 1 full loop to empty the whole gauge again. Each riddle getting a follow-up move. Earth probably a heal, wind and fire ranged attacks.
