do you need to reset the origin every time you run a new toolpath or can you use the origin you set in the first for the finishing passes?

You don't necessarily need to reset the X & Y origin if your machine returns to the same starting origin after it is finished with the rough pass. I usually do, just to be sure there are no problems. You do need to reset the Z each time you change bits unless you are using bits with collars on them or are using the same bit for rough and finish.

Not quite sure what exactly would cause it to do that, but first make sure you save the gcode with the correct file format for the 4030 or whichever machine you are using.

Im having an issue with carveco and candle that maybe you can help me with , I can’t seem to get the Z positioned right in relation to the material (or something along those lines ) . When I import the files to candle and I’d set x and y in place , then Z I would set it allll the way up to do a floating pass . And every single time it will go all the way down to the point I always have to use the “oh sh*t” button .
Im sure it’s something in the carve co settings I’m messing up but I can seem to figure it out ! Any help will be GREATLY appreciated.

I'm not sure what you mean to do a floating pass? Does the bit actually plunge into the workpiece? But one thing to make sure is that you have the unit of measure,(millimeters or inches), set the same in Candle and Carveco. If not the the bit can plunge or veer off path.

@@windsorwoodcraft just a “ghost” quick start so I make sure my xyz are good in lace , and the z all the way up so it does not touch the material which in this case is happening .

@@midasmedia7448 If you can, send me a screen shot of your settings that you are using for that file and I'll see if it all looks good or not.
