Thank you so much! Yes! I’ve seen other creators use varnish on air dry clay as well. I just haven’t had a chance to find one to try. Do you have a suggestion on a brand you like? I’d love to try it out in the future as well :)
@@joolieshome tnx for replying. Actually i've heard about WINSOR & NEWTON brand that it has good quality for its price. But I haven't had the chance to try it yet.
Gorgeous! :D I was just wondering... did you use heat resistant sealing paint? You inspired me to make a candle holder, but I am a bit worried about the heat...
I didn’t use a heat resistant sealer, but that’s a good point. I’ll have to see if there are any on the market to use for air dry clay. I just make sure I’m always present when lighting my candles with the holder. Thank you for watching :)
@@joolieshome Thank you for your reply. I just found an air spray for fire places 😂 I will test it and if you wish, I will let you know if the clay gets cooked!
@@joolieshome Hii, Joolie! :D Now you can say "our" candle holders, I made three of them, and sprayed them with the air spray. 1st thing: If it is sprayed too close to the dry clay, it stains it. So it needs to be applied very gently and uniformly, from some distance. 2nd thing: Not sure about applying it on water colors... but heat resistant spray varnish will dissolve other acrylic varnish layers... so meh... 3rd thing: the good news is that once the heat resistant layer dries, it really holds up. I tried to burn dried clay with a lighter and: a. the non treated clay slowly turns into ash (doesn't burn though) b. the treated clay only gets black from the smoke of the flame, but it doesn't degrade, it stays strong. I guess it also depends on the clay... DAS is very porous for example. I hope you enjoyed my experiment, I almost burned my fingers... :))
yayyy "our" candle holders! Wow! thank you so much for sharing all the details and getting back to me with the results :) I feel like you should start your own youtube channel because this is great info to share! So glad you didn't burn your fingers. I guess I'll try it but need to be mindful of using it on top of other acrylic varnish layers. Thank you again!
Hi Tina! Thanks so much for coming by and watching my video. I used acrylic paint from michaels and Mod Podge gloss clear acrylic sealer that comes in a spray can. Have fun trying this diy 💕
Thank you so much for watching :) I didn't leave them inside but that's a good idea. If you leave it in, give it a twirl a couple times before it's fully dry so the clay doesn't stick to the candle 💗
Thank you so much for watching :) I used "golden brown" and added some white and a small drop of red I believe. Try that combination :) Also, I noticed the paints dry darker, so even though it looks a little light, let it dry to see the true color. If you want to make it darker, you can add some more golden brown, or brown to it. Hope that helps
oh yes, of course! I used a finishing sandpaper, 320 grit :) I shall add it to the description as well. www.homedepot.ca/product/norton-prosand-10x-performance-sandpaper-9-inch-x-11-inch-320-ef-3-pack-/1001048722?rrec=true

Thank you so much for the kind words! :)
It's really amazing good job.
I have a question: is it okay to use varnish instead of mod podge for making the color fixed?
