@@RedRockingBird Would it have been easier to have laid the clay on the cling wrap with the wrap smoothed out and then pick it up and lay it in the bowl? Just a thought I was wondering about.
I am 62 yrs old. When I was in grade 4, we did this in art class. We used cartoons from the newspaper. I even used this technique with my children, and next year I will do this with my grandson.
This is lovely, I too remember doing similar at school onto canvas etc…always experimenting.

In 49, and we did this in elementary too. I used to do it using newspaper and silly putty
Super..but in Romania we didn't do anything like that and when there was communism in the 80s we did a lot of manual work activities, but after the revolution the children didn't do anything interesting at school anymore😢

Thank you once again. This is beautiful. I have tried transfer though after drying the clay. But will try this. I just want to know if you've tried colour prints in the same process cos the intensity of inkjet ink might not be as dark as grey. Do let me have your advice, I will surely try it out and send you pictures. Much love. Thank you again❤️

Yes I did try it in colour and yes as you say the colour does work but was not so strong, so i went with the black to get the grey, I will be doing more videos around this so wanted to start with the simplest first... black. Love it! Waiting for my air dry clay to arrive in a few days. Can't wait to make my miniature sculptures that I did before but using polymer clay (didn't want to keep baking). I can practise and practise sculpting and painting w/o having to add up on our electric bill. 😄

Transfer. You have a calming voice and completely describe what you are doing. Could I stamp or paint on the clay before it dries or maybe wait till it dries?
Thank you. You can stamp the clay while it’s wet yes, but coating in paint needs to wait till it’s fully dried, to make sure you don’t lock in any moisture, have fun with your projects 😊

Brilliant! 😊 It's great to see how you do things. Your clay looks so smooth in this video, is it DAS? Although I get a decent finish with water & sanding, when I roll it the edges break up a little.
Thank you, I use both DAS and hobbycraft clay, they seem to be the same, so does crayola. If it breaks at the edges when you roll it, then you need to make sure you condition the clay to begin with and knead the clay, if the clay has dried a bit then you could wet your hands just slightly while you do this. Hope this helps 💕
I've tried those things. Maybe I don't work it for long enough, but find it gets too sticky!
If it gets too sticky I’d leave it out for a few mins and then start rolling. Or maybe work it less and hit it sharply with the side of your hand to ‘knock’ it together instead of knead, hope something works better for you

I am going to look into that. For whatever reason my printer just will not transfer a good image. I am sure it is the printer.

I have done similarly with salt dough, and tissue paper. You can actually decoupage the white tissue paper onto the dried clay.

This works with an ink jet printer as the ink is not fixed, experiment with some techniques, polymer clay work differently again 😊 enjoy
What type of tile. Is it glazed? Matt finish? Love your work.
I have several and as long as they are completely smooth and non porous they are good and yes glazed, most of mine are matt, they are all just left over from decorating the house 💜

We used to do it when we were in school.. we take a white eraser and rub it on our head (to get the oil lol) and press the eraser on the texts in our book and we get the print on the eraser.

Which varnish do you use so it doesn’t turn yellow? I’ve heard you should paint it first before putting varnish on air dry clay or it will discolor.
Yes some swap into the clay and darken it some don’t on the bare clay, take a look at this video to see the difference:

Hi! I just discovered ur channel! Very cool! But I tried out this video and it didn't work for me 😔. I was really looking forward to doing it and my ink didn't transfer. I did everything like you did so I don't know what went wrong. Am I supposed to try to transfer it maybe right away after I print it or does that even matter? Idk, but thanks for the tips...
Hi and welcome. Oh no, sorry it didn't work for you. Do you have an inkjet printer? So if you wet the printed paper it runs? Which you wouldn't want to happen normally, but the inket allows the release of the ink off the paper and therefore transfer to the damp clay. And you used regular air dry clay not the air dry light or anything else? It's a mystery 😊
@@RedRockingBird yeah, I used regular air dry clay but an Epson printer. Normal printing paper like yours. I don't know if the Epson printer affects it or not but that's ok, I appreciate you getting back to me! Thank you
