I am completely new to affinity and a friend suggested this video as an introduction. I am completely blown away. What a cracking piece of software! Thanks Weronika for making it seem very usable and doable!
Thanks for the tutorial! I now created a basic pattern, but how can i fill shapes with that pattern? Is the only way to save it as png or jpeg and then use the bitmap fill function?
To preserve vectors, you can create a grid with pattern symbols, group them and create a shape as a mask for that group. Then you can scale and position "fill" group independently from the mask shape or transform whole mask shape together with "fill" group. Another way is to place "fill" group as a child object inside a shape and then use "Lock children" to transform fill or object independently.
What is the solution when you have an element on a border that you transform and group, then later you decide to change the shape of the element, or add more detail?
I always delete “the twin” from the group and change the original, and transform again. This applies if you want to resize or rotate. If you just want to move a bit, without any other changes, then no need to start anew 👍 That’s why I usually work with assets, which are premade design objects. I have a whole course about them 😊
Thank you for you tutorial. I am now a subscriber. I have only had this program for a couple of weeks and could see the potential. Your explanation for this has been wonderful and given me plenty of new tools. I will be watching lots of your UA-cam’s now. Many many thanks
You can download the template from this link: affin.co/WSFC or if you want to create your own, check out this video on Weronika's channel ua-cam.com/video/s1Ea61Uw0EA/v-deo.html&ab_channel=WeronikaSalach
Hi Sushant, thanks for the feedback, we will make sure to mention that in future. It's worth saying that everything Weronika does in this Session is achievable in the desktop version as well - just a couple of tools are in different places.
Thanks so much for making Affinity a one-payment per major version software, it's an incredible piece of software.
I love Affinity! I promote it to everyone I talk to about art, which is everyone I know 😄
I hope that in the next upgrade the automatic seamless pattern feature already exists, so it can save more time
One of the most relaxing tutorials I've ever watched
So nice to hear! :)))) I used to teach yoga and meditation for years. Maybe my yoga voice is kicking in 😅
Great work!! And thank you, Affinity, for providing such a great software for such a great price!!

Can you show us how to create a template JUST LIKE THE ONE we can download?
Here is a video on Weronika's channel that shows how to create the template: ua-cam.com/video/s1Ea61Uw0EA/v-deo.html&ab_channel=WeronikaSalach
Yes, it’s on my channel, the link is in the previous comment ❤
@@WeronikaSalach ok thank you so much

Hi, You forgot to teach us how to open the template once we download it. I am brand new to learning.
Hi, what platform are you using, Mac / Windows / iPad? Do you have Affinity Designer V1 or V2?
@@Affinitybyserif ipad with version 2
The background layer isn't available in my download. Should it be?
You should have a My Pattern layer with a Symbol within it, and a Pattern Preview layer with the Symbol repeated 4 times within that.

Need videos for latest version of desktop
No estas cerrando los vectores.
Henceforth please mention in the video title or in the thumbnail that it's specific to the iPad version.

You can totally replicate everything in your desktop version ^^

Although I have a background in Ai, I'm totally new to Designer. This "tutorial" is way beyond my ability to follow.
