Apple’s retail stores are the most financially successful in the world, generating more than $5,500 per square foot of retail space. But this level of success was not anticipated by anyone back in 2001 when Steve Jobs debuted the first Apple Store, and you may wonder why that was. Well it’s because Apple had tried establishing a retail presence before, but it ended badly. So let’s start off by examining why Apple’s first attempt at retail failed while their second attempt was a wild success.
Back in 1997, Steve Jobs returned to Apple and found the company in terrible shape, including their retail presence. For many years Apple had been establishing store-within-a-store concepts. Where a section of a retail store like Best Buy would be dedicated to Macintosh computers. But there were some fundamental problems with this approach. Most retail store staff had no training or experience with Macs so they often directed customers to PCs instead. Also, the reseller’s profit margin on selling Macs were only around 9% so they weren’t incentivized to recommend them to customers
So with all these problems with the store-within-a-store approach, you might assume that Apple scrapped the idea and began working on their own retail stores. But that wasn’t the case... - Наука та технологія

undoubtedly Apple store was one of the best decision APPLE has made so far.....i have been there 15 times or more and was always overwhelmingly satisfied by their service....it's unmatched anywhere
King's React Gaming GameStop service sucks! I went their on my American trip and they tried force me to buy a membership I would only use while in the US! I was gonna buy Just Dance, but they kept saying “So what do you want to do? Trade in or get our membership?” I wanna buy this game. And they made me buy the membership, I cancelled immediately and never went again. GAME ( UK Game store ) is so much better!

I've been to the Apple store in the Glendale Galleria many times! I never knew that was there second store! That's so cool! I guess that would explain why it's so small compared to other apple stores (like the one across the street at the Americana)

I know! Most phone companies don’t have a repair shop for devices, so you go to a shady one on a shady street, they keep making you wait, you take the phone back and have no idea how to fix it! With Apple, take it in and take it back once it’s fixed. EPLS!
Seeing Apple from an economic perspective is actually very interesting.
I would recommend everyone who’s interested in economics to try it out at least once
I knew that John Browett was going to mess everything up. He was terrible at Dixons. He treated the employees like shit and was happy to cut everything to the bone. This affected the employees and that ill-will is passed on to the customers.
Apple had a bad 6 months with this clown shitting all over Apple's good reputation.
He is what is known as a seagull manager. Swoops in, make a load of noise, shits on everything and then disappears.
evilution I worked there when Browett was hired, EVERYONE knew Apple was fucked and to be honest, it never really recovers fully. When we found out Browett was firing our brothers/sisters in blue with the permission of Cook, we never trusted him again. Browett also froze wages during raise time. He was a real piece of shit and I hope he has full body cancer. After Browett, Eyebrows (aka Angela) would release a video every week showing how much Apple made while we got a puny 4% raise, if that, once a year. I’m glad I left that horrible company years ago. Retail employees were treated like disposable garbage and we knew it, while corporate employees we all kings.

The shopping experience at apple store is seriously amazing compared to typical tech outlets, with its spacious interior and ease of trying out various items.
Purchasing (if you have the money) is swift without the hassle of queuing up at the cashier .
Not to mention the customer support is excellent!
I LOVE these apple history videos!! Maybe try making an episodic series on the history of Apple, from its beginnings to where its now too? You deserve more subs!!!
The closest one to me is 2 hours away in Pittsburgh. I do have Bestbuy and tons of carrier stores

great video. I was the third party production person for the web store from 2000 to 2005 at Apple. It was hard to convince developers to produce product back then to add to both the web and retail stores. The goal was to have 250 third party products ready to stock on opening day. We made it!

Nearest apple store from our home is 45 minutes or half a hour.

It’s also interesting to see that such a presently successful company as Apple had its own unsuccessful trials, in terms of their services, style, and evolution, even with Jobs at the top. It’s so easy to see the Apple Store & Genius Bar now as an inevitable “of course” idea, but it took a lot of time and experiment to get it right. That’s encouraging for those of us in small businesses who have to continually innovate and reevaluate. Failures can be just as valuable as successes.

Best video ever Angelia did a great job on re designing the Apple stores and making them more friendly and inviting the 1st Apple store I been in was the one on Stockton st in San Francisco before I got banners for a year for shoplifting in 2011 I was young & dumb don’t ask and dats interesting that there 1st Apple store was in Washington DC & in Cali I respect Steve even more for pioneering a retail change

Good report but missing was Steve Jobs’ elimination of Apple’s peripherals like printers and major brand accessories both online and in the first years of the physical stores.

I went to my local Apple Store that was finally reopened after a long closed for remodeling. It is a nice atmosphere, where you can check out the computers, I-Pads, I-Phones, Apple Watches, and they do have training areas to learn about different products and what you can do with each product.
In the UK, at least in the rural parts, there are lots of resellers, like Stormfront and iStore that have the same style and appearance as an Apple Store.

I’m extremely late but 6:47 is Apple’s flagship store in NYC on 5th Avenue.
And 10:21 is a newly built store in Michigan Avenue in Chicago, the clip you saw was a rendering but I think the store is already built & finished.
