This had to be a bittersweet Christmas for the family because it was their first without their beloved patriarch. The matriarch was still around for 5 more Christmases.
Hi Ms Jennifee. Thank you so very much for posting the full length King Family shows. Enjoyed watching all of them and hoping that you continue to post the full length King Family shows in the future.
Do we have a commercial now?...ya we have a commercial now. Hilarious ending for that song. Alvino is fantastic with that talking guitar and that song I've got my love to keep me warm was later performed by Cathy with her baby boy in another King family Christmas special. I'm glad to say I have the second episode on DVD. And I can't believe I have over 140 Christmas albums and I don't have that King Family one. I'll be looking now. Thank you for posting again today.
And P.S. those mod outfits the girls had on and the sweaters on the guys were classic mid 60's. I'm assuming this was 1965. I almost expected Austin Powers to pop out and start dancing.
Thank you so much for posting this and the other videos this week....always wonderful surprise when they show up. Also, I never knew a good way to say thank you to you and your family (mainly Cam Clarke) for all the videos you have posted over the years. I was in a very serious accident in Feb. 2020 right as the pandemic was starting and spent many MANY hours sitting stationary and solo. It seemed every day I was blessed by The King Family via UA-cam with joy and entertainment...your family played a major role in my successful recuperation including not letting all the negativity get to me. I was not around when these shows first aired but I am incredible grateful that you and your family are willing to still share them now. All my best~~VJL
Wow. Thank you for your kind words. I'm so sorry you had to go through that, and I'm so glad we were able to help in some small way. Sometimes I think, " Why am I still posting this stuff? Nobody cares." I guess I should keep posting :)
"Stay tuned for the Lawrence Welk Show, next on most of these ABC stations." Those were the days. Only one or two commercials per break. I enjoyed watching both these shows. Please post more. BTW, that talking guitar was done with a Sonovox and someone talking offstage.
@Jennifer de Azevedo....you are the grandchild of Alyce King who was married to Sydney de Azevedo??? I really enjoyed listening to Luise, Alyce, Donna and Yvonne when they sang with Alvino Rey Orchestra....lovely!!
Why Cathy's version "Today I'm in Love" didn't make it onto the top 40 is beyond me. It was much better than a lot of the other versions & songs of the era.
Beautiful simply Beautiful!!
Thank you!!

@MissJennifee, can you identify who was in the snowman costume? Was it a family member?
As seen on Saturdays at 8pm(et) {right after "SHINDIG!"}.
