What an amazing performance, Tina Cole was simply brilliant the way she did this. I truly miss all the old Variety Shows we used to have on TV back then. I am now in my sixties & I love seeing singers like the King Family on UA-cam, they were really great.❤❤
I LOVED WATCHING THE KING FAMILY TV SPECIALS,GROWING UP IN TORONTO CANADA (I AM NOW 67) WOW AND REMEMBER TINA COLE FROM MY THREE SONS. THIS NUMBER WAS FUN AND SWEET AND WHAT TRUST BETWEEN TINA AND COUSIN RIC. THANKS FOR YEARS OF TV SPECIALS. WHAT A TREASURE IS THE KING FAMILY
I remember Ric and Tina doing this number! My whole family were fans of the King Family and my sister and I would always try to remember which King Cousins were siblings and which King sister was their mother. We even went to see the King Family perform live here in Chicago. This had to be in the 60's.Thanks for all the years of good family entertainment! 🙂
The chemistry between all off the cousins seemed to be magical. I didn’t have a “favorite” Everyone was naturally beautiful/handsome and incredibly talented. Must be a “King” family thing!
As a young boy watching these family entertainment shows served as a stimulus for me wanting to be a singer and performer. The show was so inspiring and up lifting. 👏👏The King family with the king sisters always sung in such sweet harmony. It was wonderful! That was a time I will always remember.
I saw the live King Family concert show in the mid 60s at the Circle Star Theatre in San Carlos, Ca. I was a young teen at the time. Loved the live show (and the TV show). I just started seeing these UA-cam videos. What a fun trip down Memory Lane.
This was my most remembered song from the show.......but I had forgotten how very, very good it was. I guess I just took it for granted back then. Charming and excellent!!!!! Thanks for rekindling my memory.
No offense intended guys but Ric was - and still is - quite the fox! I barely remember watching the King Family shows on TV cause I think they came on during my bedtime, but I have fallen asleep many times as a very young child to those beautiful harmonies while the rest of my family got to watch the show right along. Sweet memories! Thank you Jen for the archives and recipes and anecdotes you give us. You're awesome! Love, Debbie
Perfectly performed and so nicely entertaining, especially for the time period when so much of America was enduring the stresses of Vietnam. Escapism into music and entertainment and art along with some daring ventures into a few good and not so good drugs were the main outlets for the younger generations. Everyone at that time found their own groove, let it be The King Family and Cousins or The Grateful Dead. Social revolution was rich and all the efforts have been provisional toward better times yet we still work for even more equality and fairness and peace today. It's still kind of wonderful to revisit videos like these. I've remained a fan of The King Family and The King Cousins and The King Sisters...honestly, nothing else compares.
Bill Hopkins the first words out of his mouth when I said “Bill Hopkins” was...”very nice, clean cut, sweet guy.” He said he has very fond memories of you and thinks you guys went to see West Side Story together... :)
Uh, weren't those two cousins?! Oh, well, I don't remember Bullocks Fashion Square when it was an open mall; I remember when it was enclosed and became just the Sherman Oaks Fashion Square. It's now the Westfield Fashion Square. And the King Family specials bring up a lot of happy memories from my childhood watching with my sister and our mom and dad. I miss those two so much. I remember this particular special when Ric surprised his mom very well -- it made my own mother cry.
Yeah, that's the problem when you're cast is all family members. Good thing it's all for show :) I remember the outdoor mall. Loved going there with LaLa (that's what we called Mt grandma's Alyce).
Just got your note. It was West Side Story and your grandmother took us and my mom picked us up. We weren't old enough to drive and we had to get dressed up. Those were the days. I think he lives in Utah now. Tell him I also think of those times--they were simpler and fun. Tell him I'm in good health, married for almost 40 years and our son is coming down tomorrow. Best, Bill
Bill Hopkins he does live in Utah. Has helped me raise my 3 boys since my divorce. He and my mom just celebrated their 45th anniversary. I will pass on your message :)
Have all the remaining king Family ever decided to make an up to date special for Christmas or has the networks and the audience so changed that they would not Accept it today

So cute Tina was. This is a sweet number. Tina was very trusting of her cousin to catch her. Thanks for posting. A real treasure.

I use to love watching the family on tv with the welk show , then one day I find out through my dad that they are my cousins!
That must've been quite a surprise!!! :)
Jennifer, your dad and I grew up together and brought a smile to my face. Please tell him that Bill from the Valley sent his best.

Your dad is a laugh riot! 🤣🤣🤣
He's a pretty funny guy :)
Thanks so much. That made my day.

I heard of the Stepford Wives but not Stepford Cousins.

They made one a few years ago. Search "Christmas with the King Family" on Amazon 😊
Where is this, California ?
Ric said that it was a mall in Sherman Oaks California . I believe both Ric and and his daughter Jen live in Utah.
Who is LaLa
LaLa is my grandma, Alyce King
