Very interesting look into a solo mode for this game. I think Splendor Duel is fantastic, I might mess around with this some time. Thanks for showing it off!
Chris Yi commenting on my channel?! I’ve officially made it!! 😱 Thank you for checking out this solo playthrough; I found the variant really intuitive and easy to use after the first couple of plays and it feels competitive and “intelligent” as far as AI opponents go! Any excuse to get Splendor Duel to the table more is a good one as far as I’m concerned! 💍 (So nice to meet you at PAX Unplugged, by the way!) ☺️
@BoardGameDave It was great to meet you at Pax too! Sounded like you had a really great time there based on your recap video. Your study is really good quality, by the way. I'll be checking out the solo rules for this.
@@DTChrisYi I had an absolutely phenomenal time at PAX this year! I hope you did too! I appreciate your kind words and thank you again for checking out this video and leaving a comment! ☺
I agree with other posters, this is like Nerd meditation; so soothing! Minor Spoiler ->I'm impressed that you pulled off the victory without getting a "rainbow". Thanks to Tom (the creator of the solo variant). I will definitely give this a try, since I can't get enough of this game! Subscribed!
Hey there! Thank you so much for checking out the playthrough and for subscribing! ☺️ Solo gaming is basically nerd meditation-you're absolutely right! 🤣
Thank you for your comment, Emma! It’s definitely a bit more thinky than the original Splendor (or Splendour!) but I love it! I’d highly recommend the game for sure! 💍 (And thank you! I had to find some new background music since my computer got wiped but I’m glad it worked out!) 🎶
I think the rules changes they made for this game are fantastic! It's more tactical, I love the multiple paths to victory, and it's so cool that when you do a strong move your opponent gets a privilege... it's absolutely a better game for two players in my opinion! And it is gorgeous-I totally agree! (The playmat is one I got from GamerMats at PAX last year! I love it!) ☺️
Hey there! I'm so sorry I've gotten so behind on my email account. There have been so many emails coming in (and a lot of them are spam emails) and it's gotten overwhelming trying to sift through the junk emails to find the legitimate ones! 😰 I'll get back to you right now; thank you for taking the time to reach out to me here!
Since you've played original Splendor so much and now you have the new duel version, I'm curious to know which version you recommend if I'm only going to buy one -- original or duel?
That's a really great question, Alison! I'd say it all comes down to how many players you're planning on playing with and how experienced they are with this kind of game! If you know you're only going to be playing two-player (or solo), I would recommend Splendor Duel! But if you think you might like to experience the game with more players, even if it's just occasionally, you might want to stick with Splendor, which is also more approachable for new players! (The base game is rated 1.79/5 on complexity while Splendor Duel is weighted a little higher at 1.97, although that's not too much of a difference!) 💎 The regular Splendor is also a really good game for two players too! p.s. I'll have a full Splendor Duel review coming very soon! 💍
This is very nice. It's like nerd meditation: gameplay, soothing voice, and chill music.
Thanks, Rob! I really appreciate that! ☺️ I’m so glad people seem to find my solo playthrough videos calming!
I’ve told him before that his solo play videos are very soothing!
Thank you, Hannah! 🙈

Thanks for this video Dave! It's a bit more in depth than the original Splendour solo game, hey? I like it! As always, lovin that background music.🙂

I’m not sure about the rules to this version but it looks gorgeous, especially on that mat. Love the components and the artwork.

How can I contact you about a game review? No one responded to emails in the channel description.
