My issue is with the bottom portion drain plug internal threads of bottom half are stripped out after 24 years. But NOBODY sells the bottom portion, only the top! lol any fix for this?
Another thing to check and no one says this or notices. The rod itself the threads over time get this hard green gunk between them and the knob can't grab it properly. Take a flathead or small blade and clean the threads out. This crap will just chip right out. I see this all the time. Been a pool contractor for 16 years now. If the rod is stripped at the bottom end get rid of it. I've seen these blow into the neighbors roof and also take part of a roof off. These have also killed people. So don't chance it.
Have you tried spraying WD40 on it, letting it soak in, then using pliers and vice grips to get the knob to turn? A WD40 variant called Rust Penetrant can sink in deeper into the threads for better results.
Had the exact same issue. This video helped me immensely! Thank you!
Awesome! Glad to help.
Thank you for a nice presentation. A great fix rather than having to buy the entire lid assembly! : )
Recently did mine, also sprayed the lid cause the fiberglass was irritating.
Thank you sooo much! You helped me save a fortune.
That's why we do it! Thank you for the feedback.
Thanks for the great video!
Glad you liked it!
Thanks great video
Does the filter need a rest from running where the pool is still. ?
Any tips on putting the clip back on at about 4:44?

My problem is not the screw top. It is leaking at the lid with a brand new O-ring and brand new screw top.
MY ROD CAME OFF FROM THE FILTER ,IS THERE A PROCEDURE TO REPLACE AND ARE THEY ALL STANDARD SIZES?
