- In this video we take a look at the 2020 Toyota Corolla SE and I share why I am so impressed with its new design and all the new features Toyota has included.
Big thanks to Jim Coleman Toyota located in Bethesda, Maryland for providing the vehicle in the video, be sure to check them out at

Hey everyone, in the video I incorrectly mentioned the new Corolla having Android Auto. However for the time being it actually only has Apple CarPlay. My apologies, and hope you guys enjoy the video!
drive m + and - ?because kind get that in head
so no push button start?
huyt
MaxMerc I live in Bethesda Maryland I just noticed it said that on the license plate
MaxMerc I noticed the nostroms in the background, you recorded at the mall on the parking garage top lol
Out of the entire HUGE Empty and CLEAN parking lot, any reason why you had to park next to that ONE puddle?
I guess he just washed it over there 😂
Someone’s OCD hahahaha
are you sure it's not coolant leaking out of the car
This guy is that one person who will park right next to your car when there is a whole fucking section to park at.
The puddle wasn’t there before. It came from the leak in the car. 😂
*I am noticing that the 2020 corolla has a lot of design similarities to the KIA Forte, 2019 Yaris and 2019 RAV4.*
Lauro Silvestre Jr. Much agreed I all most thought it was a Kia
I was saying it almost looks like a Kia
I kinda want one
I've got the chance to drive a 2010 Corolla and 2016. The older version is a lot more ellegant than the new one... (Compare both seats, compartments, dash board, center consoles) the only edge of it's successor has I think is the outer aesthetics sporty looks but over all il bet my penny on the older ones. It'll be a blast if Toyota would collaborate in both designs...
Cvt with sequential shifting??
Just me felt the back ruin it? I prefer the hatch back version.
front does look like 2020 but back more like 2012
NO ANDROID AUTO, IDK WHY HE SAID THAT..
Not just everyone but younger people as well.
Do you have any idea of how stupid that sounds?
LMAO i was like wait... wtf
F*ck u dhead...
That’s what the older generation thinks of the younger generation. Just because older people have experienced more they think younger people are lesser or maybe not even considered real people. It’s just how it is. When I become 40 I’ll probably have that same mentality. Ya dig? It’s just the pattern of life

I love my 2020 Corolla XSE!
I bought the same for my mum and she loves it
omg those gauges are straight out of like 2003
Can't go wrong with a tried and true classic

@marcoxtv Needle gauges are more accurate than digital ones.
@General Esdeath This.

digital looks like poop tho

Japanese cars are only getting better people 2019? 2020? Thumbs up 👍🏻 TO Toyota 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The car looks way better than the last model.. not so boring
Still looks ugly next to the civic

That's a bundle option...

Honda: makes sporty civic for the people
Nissan: Makes Sentra with a special NISMO trim
Toyota: oh, we just um...
Downsized the Camry for the millennials
ElasticNine26 mazda 3 ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I am not a Mazda or Nissan fan at all for reliability purposes they are about average based on people Ik owning them and honestly I think the new corolla especially se and xse model is really nice ,I’d rather get it than any of the cars from the brands you mentioned above
Mazda : reliability issues
Honda: tried too hard putting a lot of plastic stuff on the civics and the regular civics are very ugly.
Nissan: mismo is all fake, it’s a plain Sentra with appearance package not a performance and reliability please Nissan sucks now a days
Toyota: reliable and a good looking car. It’s a no brainer. Yeah it looks like a Camry but don’t they all look like their big brothers?
@@mr.c493 I can see where the Corolla can be the better option, but it just looks hideous Imo
ElasticNine26 well to each their own taste. I personally like the look. I don’t like the look of the new civics. It’s like they tried to make it look like a hatchback without the hatch. But I’m practical and I value my money so I chose the better car. Civics are great cars too. I’m just not a civic fan. I would love a manual accord.
Why is the 2020 Corolla so ugly?
@kokakoliah It looks like an angry demented fish
@kokakoliah I didn't say you said it looked nice
The best selling car in the world... Toyota Corolla.
Jose Banduyang Jr cheap, comfortable, reliable, and chill to drive
Wonder if sales take a dip . New body style ?
@@chrismerbach5902 no way. If anything itll sale more . Actually looks good to be in . Looks fun
Actually sales took a slight decrease in 2019 from 2018 ( 5,000 ) units. But Corolla ended up 2nd . Nissan's Rogue took the number 1 spot . So it will be interesting how much the public likes the new Corolla.
@@chrismerbach5902...u mean Nissan Rogue outsold Corolla worldwide? Bcoz my original comment was based on world wide sales. However for North American continent... Nissan Rogue was second to Toyota Rav4 in total sales.

Too bad the back looks like a Kia Forte. Super ugly front.
Toyota needs to get their shit together and make the Corolla in a sports car version or atleast bring back the Toyota Celica

@@watershed44 you're a dumbass
Asin transmissions are incredible reliable and very well made.
@Jayson Molina
Doesn't matter who makes them. CVT has a basically FLAWED design and that makes them LESS durable, and more prone to early failure compared to traditional good quality, all gear driven transmissions.
I have always owned corollas for many years, but will not be trading in my 2012 corolla with 275,000 kms on it for a newer model with a cvt transmission, I work in a transmission repair shop as a adviser, and on average most CVTs coming into the shop, and it doesn’t matter what the make of car is, have only been lasting about 150,000 kms on average, good business for us, but most of these care have been purchased second hand, and end up costing the new owner around $3500.00 to replace, hate to say it but I may be buying a manufacturer like Hyundai or KIA that still offer a 6 speed automatic, and they have a 10 year drivetrain warranty, so if something did happen your fully covered.
10yr or 100,000 miles warranty. So if you drive a lot of miles that warranty doesn’t help you when the tranny goes out. It’s a lot more to purchase a new automatic transmission.
It's ugly as hell nothing impressive it's actually worse then a 2003 to 2007 model corolla. I don't like these new features and those tv screens stuck on dash why toyota why this company was known for best quality and desighn now it will in line up with new and mercedes and audi with German cars. It's just gonna be giving problems every day.
@Peter J well with the old mercedes not the new ones because new mercedes are even uglier then ever also they all look the same from front to interior to the rear end. And boring. Not like old mercedes they had their own style a different style and looks.
@Peter J oh sorry I didn't understand before. Well yeh old mercedes were strong and reliable as much as toyota and also they had great styles back then.
The entire empty parking lot and you managed to pick the worst possible spot to film on the puddle and drain vent. Really bro? 🤷🏻♂️
whats the problem?
It was for a dramatic effect.... ever heard of STAR WARS???💦

"The Corolla has been boring"
*Cries in ae86*
I have owned a 2008 Corolla from new and it has 165000 Kim’s on it. It gets serviced regularly every six to eight months and still runs great. I was thinking of updating it but now I probably will not because I do not trust the new fangled CVT they use now.
A leather wrapped steering wheel is much more comfortable then a hard steering wheel

Duhhh
With the 6 speed manual it's still 7.7 0-60.....for a car that's supposed to be a little sporty.....it's abysmal
well there are some cool sporty cars that arent fast and still acomplish giving that fast and fun feeling
@@eduardoramos6965 but it's not sporty if it's slow. To be a sport model you need good driving dynamics. I doesn't need to be fast but it needs to be quick. Anything over 7.5 seconds is turtle slow for a sport car. In 2000 my dad had a grand Prix GT four door that did 0-60 in 7 seconds.
@@eduardoramos6965 for example the Mazda 3 GL 2.0 6 speed manual which is the lowest and cheapest car still gets 7.3 0-60....….the sport model is 6.5 seconds which is competitive for a sport model. The civic sport is 6.7 seconds, the Sentra SR turbo is 6.4 seconds, the golf 1.8t is 6.5 seconds, the Elantra sport is 6.0 Seconds, the Toyota 86 is 6.2 seconds but it's a lot more money than any of the other cars unless you get the civic sport with the auto it's over 30 grand Canadian.
@turbobenx did I say sports car? It's supposed to be a sport model. SE and XSE are sport models. Is a Elantra sport or a civic sport a sports car? No. It's a sporty compact sedan.
They can say sporty all they want, but this car is a slow piece of shit economy car. Reliable, yes. But fucking turtle slow.
Oh weird! My 2020 Corolla doesn't have a key for the ignition. I thought they were all keyless. But then again I have the 2020 Corolla Hybrid
Gabriel Fonseca the base and SE models come with a key. Hybrids have keyless entry and ignition regardless of model. I used to have a 2017 Camry LE hybrid and now I have a 2019 Camry SE nonhybrid. The only thing I miss is the keyless option lol
Saw it today and it amazes me how good it looks!
Set the bar for smaller cars I don’t think so the 2019 Mazda 3 is the one that set the bar.👍🏻
Car is beautiful but nose is too big
I live in Los Angeles CA and this car is perfect for the streets here. Easy to park, is built for a lot of stop and go. Love this car good buy for me.
Would recommend this car for anyone who lives in a large city.
Hope Toyota go back to classic automatic transmission instead of CVT
Fat chance, CVTs are a must to continue meeting MPG requirements. At least the entire Corolla line up has the manual option, which is pretty awesome, not many non-sport cars still offer manuals for non-base trims
Toyota’s transmissions are good don’t worry
Arsene Lupin Good on you. I could not agree more. You said it.
Emir Trump el-Amriki by the entire lineup, you mean the Corolla SE. the rest have a CVT or eCVT.
That screen looks so big and exaggerated. It looks cheap n ugly.
This is the reason I will buy a Civic. I would seriously consider this Corolla (manual transmission only).
Erik c....So true.I liked the styling and everything looks good, but that screen kills it!Why are these even legal?Don't they create a blind spot, especially for short drivers like me?
Test drive with no actual drive is not all that helpful..sounded more like an infomercial .Notwithstanding thanks for the walkaround anyway..
That screen on dash 👎👎👎👎👎
ill pass lol but im sure the chicks dig it
I'm a young person and I would rather go for the Mazda 3 👍🏽.
Mazda 3 2019 is gorgeous too
I'm a young person and I can't afford a new car. Unless it's a 2003 Saturn ion. Then maybe I can
Mazda3 looks like it has a huge side dent out of the box.
You buy a Corolla for reliability.
Not sporty looks and more expensive to replace low pro tires.
Just because it looks good doesn't mean it'll break down in a month
now more aggressive and sporty
Cvt is no good... The manual is better
@Tyler Wilson
Cvt are known to be weak. Look at the recall on the 2019 toyota corrolla hatchback...
Try to drive manual when you are get up late and go to work.... You won't make it to work on time and feel exhaust..
Cvt transmissions suck, they wont last and cant be rebuilt. I will never buy a cvt. Hopefully they keep making a manual.
I suppose car manufacturers do not know what is best for their customers. Why even use direct injection at all when it is so complicated and expensive to maintain? They should stick a carburetor with a manual transmission into every new car along with manual window, no navi, and no catalytic converter, you know, simple and cheap to maintain.
@@doubl33Ace manuals are way better than CVT buddy. Either that or normal automatics.
T makabu lol
Chris Huber
No it is not. There is only one thing a manual is great at, performance for old timers like you and I. This car is not a performance or entusiast centric car.
@@doubl33Ace it's not all about performance, a manual transmission will always be more reliable , not only that but most manuals can also be more fun to drive, I have nothing against automatics if it's a traditional 4 , 5 or 6 speed auto, the problem is most manufacturers are going with cvt now to try to improve fuel economy but cvts have a reputation of always breaking down early. So the trade off you get worse reliability on the transmission , There are major issues known especially with Nissan, honda, Subaru and ford where some transmissions are breaking down before 100k miles. Toyota is now jumping in on the cvt bandwagon so we shall see how they fair.
1.8 is bulletproof so many years this engine
True I have 437000 miles on 2000 Corolla original engine and transmission.

A.S.A.L.A.007 does your car burn oil? The 1998-2002 were notorious for burning oil
I almost got a corolla as my first car
I drive a 2014 le with 75k. After 2nd software CVT update it is now better. But honestly not sure how long CVT will perform in the long run. One great thing still i can do basic staff in corolla and save money.
Why is toyota and honda following on the nissans path, with cvt transmission.
I guess I will keep my 2007 honda crv for a long time.
Denis Reyes jealous fuck
S Furm ?
Everyones going to CVTs
CVT has less component - cheaper to manufacture I believe. They'll say it's lighter and smoother and it is but cheap is key. I like the idea of CVT but I don't think it has as much "give" as a planetary gear automatic. I learned to love driving manual though as if I engage and disengage the clutch right it would be as smooth anyway. I like the electric CVT as the slip is made through contactless parts but if it gets a problem I wouldn't be so willing to take on it.
OEM but with a Electronic Gear...... Holy fucked....
For 2020, I was expecting it will come with push start engine button tech already...
Avoid push button start at all costs.. Both smartkey and steering column continously talk to each other..with cheap radio equipment codes can be intercepted and then car can be stolen.its happening nationwide...Plus smartkey systems usually fail between 3 and 5 years.. and then expect to pay 1500 minimum for repairs..Toyota generally only puts them in higher trim versions of vehicles unless specially ordered.
Traditional keyless entry key with immobilizer chip is far more secure. Besides, how hard is it to stick a real key into the ignition
The gauges are so old, Honda is way ahead.
It has an actual physical key? Lol tf
I prefer a key then a key fob.
That's good, less problems with a key than push start system. I understand it's a 2020 model but I think they know of the scandals with keyless entry problems and robberies.
they really dropped the ball there!! LOL and that se model goes for over 20k lol
Are you sure sure it has Android auto I heard multiple times that is the only 2020 Toyota model that only have that has Apple play with Alexa know Android auto..!?!?!?
Toyota Corolla owners ... I so wish you people would contribute to the brand new Honda Accord sales... trust me.. you WONT be disappointed. It is 10,000 times more attractive inside and out and more reliable!!! 😂😂
It's got a cvt.
That transmission is not built to last.
Defeats the purpose of a toyota.
Technology advanced every year my mom has a corolla with cvt and has no problem with 100k miles
My corolla has a CVT with 120k. It’s a 2014. Toyota is built to last even cvts
You can also get the new model with a manual
Tyler Wilson it was just a catalytic converters torking screw issue on 3500 hatchbacks. That’s just 3500 out of millions compared to Nissan and Honda... also those cars were made in the USA. Mine came from japan and had no issue.
Toyotas CVT is one of the best out there.

How does this compare to a Kia Cerato/Forte?? Kia cars are underrated, in my opinion and have offered more bang for buck and their interiors have improved to a point where I benchmark the others to Kia interiors (this is of course for respective segments).
KIA cars do not survive as long as any Japanese car and they have considerably worse gas mileage. With a Toyota corolla you will get the price difference with just the saved money on gasoline by the 100k mile mark. Not to mention how easy it is to get good selling price for your used Toyota.
@@takeabreak7179 Toyota VVTi so save more fuel.... But with all that shitty electronic all Korean company had to do is used normally part OEM without electronic censor and it will outlast newer Japanese car out there.
