Apple has invested billions into physical and digital security measures on local, personal devices and Apple’s servers. If Apple *really* wanted to make their privacy weaker they would’ve just listened to the fbi when they were asked to unlock an iPhone. The main issue is that if Apple wanted to sell user info, they *cant* because everything is user encrypted, and Apple doesn’t keep a record of the keys. Speaking logically here, you are gonna need a ton of proof to show that Apple doesn’t have the best security and privacy in the industry. Edward Snowden uses iOS, and he knows quite a bit about government spying.

I just did and it’s amazing. Got it for 840$ and I’m really happy with got. I thought about 13” m1, but you can’t bootcamp windows on them and it’s a little to small and 14” and 16” m1 pros were too expensive for me so I went with this one and it’s been amazing so far.
@@arseniyromanovich799 it's silent under light work. Apple also fixed problem with external displays. I have 4K monitor plugged and MacBook open and it's also silent and doesn't overheat when browsing web, watching 4K videos, few tabs in Safari, discord, mail all open. It's running hot under heavy load and it's quite loud, but I only do heavy load on desktop, so it doesn't bother me. With some tweaks like Turbo Boost Switcher you can get low temperatures and good battery life. Mine has 230 cycles and with these tweaks I get around 7-9 hours on battery. Unfortunately it overheats a bit on Windows when gaming. I read that it's because of VRM section overheats which leads to lowering wattage of GPU from 50w to around 30w. It's not that bad, you just need to adjust the game settings to run good on 30w. I managed to play GTA V for a few hours in 1440p on high settings in 60 fps. It's quite loud, but temperatures are around 80-85*C. I'm happy for the price I paid. It's still powerful machine with some flaws, but you can work around them.

Apple sells cables, and you can even buy a compatible phone if you want to… Seriously, with ~7€ (1/3 of what Apple charges, no pun intended) third-party Lightning cables available online and even at my local hardware store, they're no longer getting my business in that regard anyway.

Like what percentage is able to afford this laptop and use it to edit RED raw footage. It’s getting ridiculous. Stop with the weird flexes about using airplane WiFi. Why would that matter in terms of battery life? Or “That’s why I travel with an iMac Pro when I shoot RED” Like, who are you even talking to?! We came here to see a review on the new MacBook. I’m calling it now, we are currently in the first era where tech channels are going way over the top because what feels like a natural progression for them will be the thing that’s going to alienate them from their followers. We are gonna look back at this and wonder why the hell we didn’t notice how ridiculous it is to be watching a rich guy tell us about shit we can’t even afford.

As for me, I just purchased a 2019 MBP 16”. It has 32gb of RAM and 512-SSD. It is a core i7, not the i9. It arrives next week and it cost me $950. I could have easily got the m1/m2 for cheaper. Hence it’s also my first MacBook I ever owned. I wanted the starlight M2 soooo bad. Then I was looking at the 2015 MBP, but settled for the 2019. The reason why I didn’t buy it. Was, because I’m not going to settle for a 13 inch screen. My older windows laptop which is a “Dell” is 15.4-16 inches. I’m not going to settle for a top of the line laptop. Just, because it’s the newest product. For me, I bought it, because it’s an affordable 16 inch laptop, inexpensive and it still runs smoothly. Just, because there is a better version out there. Does not mean that the older generation laptops are horrible (except for the 2017 macbook) the 2012 MacBook is running strong still, the 2015 is still a really nice option too.
The MacBook chargers are USB Power Delivery, which means they will only crank up the wattage if the device they are connected to specifically requests it. Using a 96W PD charger to charge an iPhone at 18W is perfectly safe 👍

@@rockpaperscissors2287 I still have mine after upgrading to the M3 Max. The 2019 is showing it's age against the M series of chips in terms of speed and efficiency. The ports on mine are going bad, the fans are going bad, and the battery refuses to charge when in use. You could probably get a good deal on a refurbished one, but (with Apple trying to phase out the Intel Macs) I wouldn't recommend getting one. I think this would still be a good computer today had Apple stayed with Intel.
Don't get me wrong dude, MagSafe was great, but as Marques said it's really convenient to be able to charge all your devices with one charger/cable. Plus you can also connect external monitors and all sorts of devices through that one cable.

Good job, video Marques. We just sent back a New 16" M.B.P. After Four day's of little use, they still have big problems with Catalina. Our new M.B.P. costing $3,161.90 wasn't worth the money. We never got to try Final Cut Pro X we use for editing. With our 2014 Mac Pro (No book) same problems with Catalina. It took Mac in Texas (F.C.P.x) three day's to fix F.C.P.x. Their remedy was to Turn on the Burner, Player before You turn on the Mac Pro, then edit. It worked. But u can not trust it. Dvd's are out so we use flash drives, when F.C.P.x software will work. We will wait maybe Mac will finally fix, change Catalina. Thanks for the video. JosephObe
Austin Simpson Films I dont tkink that any pro user still wants a bunch of old usbs in their macbook. A dongle (that everyone already has) with 3 usb a + hdmi + etherner + power takes 1 tb3 and you still have 3 left for external gpus, screens, fast ssds.
My Wife has been using a 13" Macbook Pro from around 2010. It's done very well, but it's time to upgrade . It's just hard to decide whether remain with the 13" or move up to the 16". Also since it's going to be a surprise gift, I need to make sure she gets what she really wants.
If she has used a 13 inch for this long, I am guessing she is not performing the most intensive processing tasks. In this case I would say stick with the 13-inch form factor and get her a 13-inch MacBook Pro. However, go with the upgraded '10th-gen' version (there are currently 8th and 10th gen versions.) RAM-wise you are fine with the base 16GB of this trim, but you may want to consider upping the hard drive to 1TB or so. This is a good system to drive a larger single external display, if she wants to down the road. If you are not buying immediately, Apple is about to release a new CPU called Apple Silicon, which will ultimately replace their Intel CPU offerings. The first models will likely launch in mid-November of this year.

I did wait, to make sure she gets exactly what she needs, because she just started her own company and needs to check the Engineering Software that is required. I actually think she will move up to the 16" version and go higher spec. She's a Chemical Engineer and is going contracting, after being with the same company for 12 years.

Gonzalo Mendoza exactly what she said. Upgraded to 8GB of ram, sold the 4GB it came with for as much as I paid for the 8. SSDs are super cheap these days. It’ll completely change your computer. It has more than enough processing power for years to come
I've watched and read so many reviews of the 16" (Which I bought immediately after the announcement) and not one of them has mentioned that the new 16" is almost exactly the same size and weight as the previous previous generation's 15" model. The third generation pre-Touchbar which was came out in 2012 and went until 2015 and introduced the Retina display to the Mac line. So if you're coming from one of those machines you'll know what to expect. It's actually slightly lighter, but if you stack them on top of each other you can barely even tell a difference. (We're talking millimeter difference) They look like the same computer with a few differences. The most obvious being the ports on the side, the logo not being plastic for light to show through and less screws on the bottom case and the hinge cover is now all metal and not plastic. (Also the color if you get the Space Grey which didn't exist on the 3rd gen.) I wasn't expecting it to pretty much use the same exact mould.
My Macbook Pro 16-inch has serious over heating and fan noise problems, like many other users. Google it. My old 2015 Macbook Pro had no issues at all when using the same apps. I am a Mac user for many years. Very disappointed in Apple. I hope the new Macbook Pro 2022 will be good quality again.

You pretty much nailed it when you would wish a macbook with LTE/cellular option. That’s the main reason why i got the ipad pro 11” LTE option instead; 24/7 connectivity without worrying to find a decent WiFi when you are mobile. Ipad pro > all

I wanted this for sooo long as my 2012 13" MBP was too small, I now have the 13" M1 MacBook Pro and I LOVE it! Because of the better resolution I could scale the display to make everything smaller and fit more on the screen, so the 13" screen is no longer an issue! I'm so glad I got the M1 rather than the Intel, I would have regretted it so much if I'd spent so much money on a chip that was about to be a thing of the past!
Update: I got my first ever job, I started last Monday, and I GOT GIVEN A BRAND NEW 16" MACBOOK PRO FOR FREE BY THEM!!! I am SO beyond happy, I have both my dream MacBooks!! 😭❤️❤️❤️
You were dead wrong here. This has been my worst mac ever. The fans are always running. The heat is unbearable. Sometimes is slow for no reason. I came back to this video because I bought this mac because of this review. I totally regret it. The second market is full of this model. People are getting rid of it by the thousands. The second hand price for 1Tb is around €1000 after just 2 years.

I just bought a base model with 512gb SSD for 500 with a small dent on one corner and some light scratches on the top lid of the screen

Like what percentage is able to afford this laptop and use it to edit RED raw footage. It’s getting ridiculous. Stop with the weird flexes about using airplane WiFi. Why would that matter in terms of battery life? Or “That’s why I travel with an iMac Pro when I shoot RED” Like, who are you even talking to?! We came here to see a review on the new MacBook. I’m calling it now, we are currently in the first era where tech channels are going way over the top because what feels like a natural progression for them will be the thing that’s going to alienate them from their followers. As for me, I just purchased a 2019 MBP 16”. It has 32gb of RAM and 512-SSD. It is a core i7, not the i9. It arrives next week and it cost me $950. I could have easily got the m1/m2 for cheaper. Hence it’s also my first MacBook I ever owned. I wanted the starlight M2 soooo bad. Then I was looking at the 2015 MBP, but settled for the 2019.
The reason why I didn’t buy it. Was, because I’m not going to settle for a 13 inch screen. My older windows laptop which is a “Dell” is 15.4-16 inches. I’m not going to settle for a top of the line laptop. Just, because it’s the newest product.
For me, I bought it, because it’s an affordable 16 inch laptop, inexpensive and it still runs smoothly. Just, because there is a better version out there. Does not mean that the older generation laptops are horrible (except for the 2017 macbook) the 2012 MacBook is running strong still, the 2015 is still a really nice option too.
How do you feel about it now? I’m only asking because I’m considering the choice you made:)

The MacBook chargers are USB Power Delivery, which means they will only crank up the wattage if the device they are connected to specifically requests it.
Using a 96W PD charger to charge an iPhone at 18W is perfectly safe 👍

@@rockpaperscissors2287 I still have mine after upgrading to the M3 Max. The 2019 is showing it's age against the M series of chips in terms of speed and efficiency. The ports on mine are going bad, the fans are going bad, and the battery refuses to charge when in use. You could probably get a good deal on a refurbished one, but (with Apple trying to phase out the Intel Macs) I wouldn't recommend getting one. I think this would still be a good computer today had Apple stayed with Intel.

Don't get me wrong dude, MagSafe was great, but as Marques said it's really convenient to be able to charge all your devices with one charger/cable.
Plus you can also connect external monitors and all sorts of devices through that one cable.

@@Mathcartney But that's an extra "bit" you need to carry with you. Plus it's my understanding that those aftermarket magsafe clones aren't the most reliable over time and can even make short-circuiting the port more likely due to the exposed pins

Good job, video Marques. We just sent back a New 16" M.B.P. After Four day's of little use, they still have big problems with Catalina. Our new M.B.P. costing $3,161.90 wasn't worth the money. We never got to try Final Cut Pro X we use for editing. With our 2014 Mac Pro (No book) same problems with Catalina. It took Mac in Texas (F.C.P.x) three day's to fix F.C.P.x. Their remedy was to Turn on the Burner, Player before You turn on the Mac Pro, then edit. It worked. But u can not trust it. Dvd's are out so we use flash drives, when F.C.P.x software will work. We will wait maybe Mac will finally fix, change Catalina. Thanks for the video.

Austin Simpson Films I dont tkink that any pro user still wants a bunch of old usbs in their macbook. A dongle (that everyone already has) with 3 usb a + hdmi + etherner + power takes 1 tb3 and you still have 3 left for external gpus, screens, fast ssds.
My Wife has been using a 13" Macbook Pro from around 2010. It's done very well, but it's time to upgrade . It's just hard to decide whether remain with the 13" or move up to the 16". Also since it's going to be a surprise gift, I need to make sure she gets what she really wants.
The 13” is powerful but a minimalist laptop, 16” is for the professionals who do a lot of work and stuff but in the end it’s your decision.
If she has used a 13 inch for this long, I am guessing she is not performing the most intensive processing tasks. In this case I would say stick with the 13-inch form factor and get her a 13-inch MacBook Pro. However, go with the upgraded '10th-gen' version (there are currently 8th and 10th gen versions.) RAM-wise you are fine with the base 16GB of this trim, but you may want to consider upping the hard drive to 1TB or so. This is a good system to drive a larger single external display, if she wants to down the road.
If you are not buying immediately, Apple is about to release a new CPU called Apple Silicon, which will ultimately replace their Intel CPU offerings. The first models will likely launch in mid-November of this year.

I did wait, to make sure she gets exactly what she needs, because she just started her own company and needs to check the Engineering Software that is required. I actually think she will move up to the 16" version and go higher spec. She's a Chemical Engineer and is going contracting, after being with the same company for 12 years.

I've watched and read so many reviews of the 16" (Which I bought immediately after the announcement) and not one of them has mentioned that the new 16" is almost exactly the same size and weight as the previous previous generation's 15" model. The third generation pre-Touchbar which was came out in 2012 and went until 2015 and introduced the Retina display to the Mac line. So if you're coming from one of those machines you'll know what to expect. It's actually slightly lighter, but if you stack them on top of each other you can barely even tell a difference. (We're talking millimeter difference) They look like the same computer with a few differences. The most obvious being the ports on the side, the logo not being plastic for light to show through and less screws on the bottom case and the hinge cover is now all metal and not plastic. (Also the color if you get the Space Grey which didn't exist on the 3rd gen.) I wasn't expecting it to pretty much use the same exact mould.

My Macbook Pro 16-inch has serious over heating and fan noise problems, like many other users. Google it. My old 2015 Macbook Pro had no issues at all when using the same apps. I am a Mac user for many years. Very disappointed in Apple. I hope the new Macbook Pro 2022 will be good quality again.

You pretty much nailed it when you would wish a macbook with LTE/cellular option. That’s the main reason why i got the ipad pro 11” LTE option instead; 24/7 connectivity without worrying to find a decent WiFi when you are mobile. Ipad pro > all

I wanted this for sooo long as my 2012 13" MBP was too small, I now have the 13" M1 MacBook Pro and I LOVE it! Because of the better resolution I could scale the display to make everything smaller and fit more on the screen, so the 13" screen is no longer an issue! I'm so glad I got the M1 rather than the Intel, I would have regretted it so much if I'd spent so much money on a chip that was about to be a thing of the past!
Update: I got my first ever job, I started last Monday, and I GOT GIVEN A BRAND NEW 16" MACBOOK PRO FOR FREE BY THEM!!! I am SO beyond happy, I have both my dream MacBooks!! 😭❤️❤️❤️

You were dead wrong here. This has been my worst mac ever. The fans are always running. The heat is unbearable. Sometimes is slow for no reason. I came back to this video because I bought this mac because of this review. I totally regret it. The second market is full of this model. People are getting rid of it by the thousands. The second hand price for 1Tb is around €1000 after just 2 years.
