For those who don't know, Arkanoid: Doh It Again, helped to clarify the game's storyline. Basically, in some distant future unknown time period, the Earth had been decimated, and humans are trying to find a new planet to call home. In Doh It Again, after beating the game, the humans occupy a new planet full of life and nature. They immediately swear an oath to embrace environmentalism, protect nature, and avoid the mistakes of the past.
I have the original release complete for PS1, known simply as Arkanoid Returns. This is the re-release that added support for a Namco paddle controller.
So I've been playing this on emulator (yeah) using mouse, on "Arcade" difficulty, and let me tell you, this game is pretty hard! This unrealistic gameplay (because it's tool-assisted) truly deceives me into thinking that you can actually beat stages in one run without losing a life, but it's not possible (at least for me).
This will shock you but this is actually the easiest entry in the series. I found myself getting through these levels way easier than the arcade, NES, SNES or even the Eternal Battle game. I think it has something to do with amplifying then powers.
I remeber how I was a kid and one day I came to a video game store with my mom to buy me a present. I took some game and then mom saw Arkanoid 2000 and said "OMG that's an Arkanoid! I played that in 80's on PC, you gotta see it, it's a classic game!" And then she bought it played it a lot.
I decided to look it up on japanese wikipedia, I believe the phrase is キャッチ・ザ・ハート, Kyacchi za Haato (the way japanese would pronounce "Catch the Heart" when written with katakana). From what I understand, that appears to be Taito's "catch copy", which is a kind of slogan, or as defined in Jim Breen's Edict: "(n) catch copy (in copywriting, large text that appears in ads or brochures to catch the reader's attention)".
I get that both Arkanoid and Blasterball are both "ball + paddle" games but I can see where Blasterball 2 got its inspiration from! ;u; The bricks, ball, paddle, and enemies spawning from the top in this game look/behave similar in Blasterball 2, even down to the shadows for everything.
You probably won't see this after a year, but me too! I thought it was so funny that sometimes I'd scream the same words out in the same childish voice when I was frustrated and didn't want to swear. I got some weird looks, let me tell ya. =)
5 year old comment, but if anyone else happens to see this and has the same question: It is indeed in the game; however it plays when you respawn after dying. Since this longplay has 0 deaths... yeah, it never plays xD. EDIT: Oh wait no, actually, its in the credits music. This was actually the first Arkanoid game I ever played, so this was the one that "set the rules" for me lol.
Arkanoid Returns and this contain the same amount of levels, 100. The arcade version only lets you do half, but with a code prior to inserting a coin allows you to play levels 51-100. Why Taito did this, I'll never know.
It is mentioned in the description of the channel: "Almost all of the videos are tool-assisted!". If you think about it, nobody will run the risk of spending unlimited hours trying to beat a game without cheats, when the sole purpose is to record the whole game instead of showing skills.
Well, if save-states are mandatory, using them sometimes is ok. But spamming the hell out of it and getting unrealistic results - not a good thing. ScHlAuChi hardly 'dies' in his longplays. I don't want to watch a perfect run, just show me the game and die normally along the way, it's part of the game. Got my point?
Ooh... I understand completely. Interesting point, I didn't see it that way. It would be interesting as well to know the reason they prefer to show a perfect game. Perhaps because it looks "cleaner"? Who knows.
Astérix Vader Yeah, I think they want it to look 'clean', and sometimes they put death animations etc. in the end of the video, as an extra content. But yeah, I think this is a matter of opinions, some people like these 'perfect run' type of things, and others, including me, want to see fewer savestates. Have a great day!

Nah Arkanoid is king of Breakout clones, including the original Breakout. Seeing video of this Blasterball 2 insures me it's just a clone of this game, and clones never truly beat the original versions. Give me Arkanoid anyday over this Blasterball 2 you rave about.

I didn't know there was an Arkanoid game on the PSX!? Can't believe I missed it, it's always been one of my favorites.

I thought it was made by Taito instead of Namco.
@@bennel3588 Taito released this game, Namco released the special dial controller that this game, and Taito's own Puchi Carat used.
@@Bloodreign1 yeah, the NeGcon controller. Neat device.

Word has it that Extra Stage 98 is the hardest of the stages.
This will shock you but this is actually the easiest entry in the series. I found myself getting through these levels way easier than the arcade, NES, SNES or even the Eternal Battle game. I think it has something to do with amplifying then powers.

really? I am from Europe :D There is no Walmart
Wow!!!! Didn't know there was a PS1 version of this game. Need to add this to my collection. Thanks for post the full game play of this!!!!

It was never released in North America. Research it on Google; you can also type in "Arkanoid Returns."

Wait a minute...Yack's behind the OST? No kidding!

It is definitely hard and irritating.
Not if you save-state your way through.

On a Playstation, that is impossible. If you look up a guide to the emulator you're using, you'll find out how.

You should probably mention in your long play descriptions that you *tool-assist* every game through.
