Mega Man X5, known as Rockman X5 in Japan, is a video game developed by Capcom. It is the fifth main installment in the Mega
Man X series. It was first released for the PlayStation in Japan on November 30, 2000 and in North America and PAL territories the following
year.
Mega Man X5 is set in the 22nd century in a world where humans coexist with humanoid androids called "Reploids". Daily life is under a
constant threat of these Reploids going "Maverick" and participating in dangerous and deadly crime. After the events of Mega Man X4, the
Maverick leader Sigma has been revived and seeks to unlock the true power of the former Maverick Zero and destroy the hero Mega Man X in
the process. To make matters worse, Sigma has set the space colony Eurasia on a 16-hour collision course with Earth. It is up to X and Zero
to stop Sigma once again and save the planet from destruction. Like its predecessors, Mega Man X5 is an action-platform game in which the
player controls either protagonist through a series of eight, selectable stages and wins the special weapon of each stage's boss. However,
the game only offers limited number of stage attempts before the player must deal with the colony.
According to Capcom producer Keiji Inafune, Mega Man X5 was originally intended to be the final game in the Mega Man X saga. Critical
reception for the game was lukewarm, with many reviewers agreeing that the stale gameplay formula will only further satisfy diehard fans of
the series. Mega Man X5 was ported to the personal computer (PC) in 2002 in both Japan and North America. It was also re-released in 2006 as
part of the Mega Man X Collection for the GameCube and PlayStation 2.
MORE COMMENT: Megaman X5 is the controversal entry in the Official X Series because everything in this game was built towards a finale
that would of seen Zero die for good and his ending is so depressing when you realise that it was meant to be his story's conclusion but
oh no not in Capcom's eyes when they made X6 which reversed what this game implied and basically ended the series on a sour note.
The 16 Hour timelimit that the game provided did change the tone of the game which meant you can't just do nothing without collecting
parts from the Mavericks in this game, truth be told the weapons aren't as effective in this than the previous 4 games worth of weapons
although they are somewhat hampened by the fact that the guy that was responsible for naming them was a huge Guns and Roses fan and
thus many fans would only prefer these 8 by their Japanese names.
I shall now note that for the first half of the LP, it is fact 100 and this includes the Ultimate Armor which you can get but that
involved in getting a Game Over and then carrying on... unfortuately this is the ONLY way to get it so the lives that were lost did have
a meaning apart from the accidental death in Dark Dizzy's level and yes I did abuse the heck out of it but that's because your allowed to
and it doesn't show up on X6 unless you cheat and I don't do cheats.
For Zero players out there this is the 2nd time I have ever played as him and I figured I wanted to do a lot better than X4 which I was
struggling to the play style that he employs which is close range saberplay so hopefully I did myself proud to you guys because Zero is
a pretty fun character to play as... only reason why I rushed this part was because X side had 100% and most items you can't even get
as Zero. -

I always liked the design of each one of the bosses. As a child I tried to draw them on my notebook cover pages. To do it I needed to play and pause in order to get the pictures.

Best game of the series! Best sound track is the series! Such a masterpiece!!!
That game demonstrates the best beautiful days of my childhood. I remember playing it with my elder bro and trying to win. Honestly, although the graphics are considered modest comparing to 3d games but everything is perfectly studied including the plot, the characters, the control, difficulty level, options and weapons like you can feel the small details while playing.

Will they ever shut up, no wonder it takes a gazillion hours to finish. Why couldn't they have more than 2 lines of text at the same time, are they dumb? How can you make such an amazing game yet have this machine gun turd of a dialog delivery? It's unbearable. The boss talks for longer than it takes to beat him, jeez. And Alia, please shut up, stop talking about button presses ffs, it breaks the realism, you would think someone knows how to use the interface after the first level. I thought she would speak only in the first level, just like a walkthrough sort of thing, but no, she doesn't ever shut up and rambles senseless stuff all the way. And the parts for the power ups, please stop with those endless description Zzzzzzz. Pls help me God.

Ive played all the megaman games growing up, from 80s to now......and admittedly, this COULDVE been another good X-game, but that completely ruined it

Through this whole game I noticed that the bosses' names were very similar to the names of the band members of Guns and Roses. Then when I saw the roses all over the area where you battle "Axel the Red" , I was positive that someone who helped create this game HAD to be a GNR fan! Lol

Oh, wow, X actually kept his upgrades from the last game? That's a first.
Yes, and even though he doesn't get infinite weapons, it's instead replaced by a 50% weapon efficiency, and you keep everything else, even the Nova Strike.
The only other game that does this is X6, in which you keep the Falcon Armor. Even though it can now charge special weapons, the weapons in X6 are bad (except the Yanmar option. That's gold), and the flight is replaced by a very short Air Dash.
But if you pick zero x will not have the fourth armor but zero will have the Z buster and zero will stand in place and shoot a pathetic blast

Terms of gameplay....possibly the best MegaMan x game. Smooth controls, introduced the ability to crouch,....yea😎

Terms of gameplay X4 actually...X5 is just frustrating and with a lot of mechanics that even after finishing the game you still don't know how they works.
Man, that intro song. My cousin and me would often fight if he skipped that song part.
Well this may sound a little weird but the thing i got memories from the game is the bebebebeb sounds from the texts😂
Fucking love this game. But you can tell Capcom was starting to cut costs post X4, with X5's lack of anime cutscenes, replaced with lazy tedious text-heavy cutscenes, and the Maverick intro screens lack of an announcer announcing the Mavericks in question..which is just.. why. Still not as bad as X6, which was basically halfassed and cheapified to hell as PSX experienced its final death throes. Gripes aside, X5 is still a great game and certainly much more difficult than X4. Might actually be the best X game, the last great game in the series.
Megaman X4 is more difficult. I have the Ultimate armor but still cant beat the last boss of MMx4.
The boss name announcing thingy is presented in the Japanese version, I don't know why they cut it off in English release.
I'd take the text cutscenes over the anime ones any day!
X5 had more of the flashbacks of the original Megaman events.
Capcom did a great job when it comes to video games: Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Rival Schools, Final Fight, Megaman and Megaman X

even if i have all the weapons i only use the buster to kill all the bosses that includes sigma too i know takes more time but i enjoy the challenge :) and even when i passed the level and i need to do it again just because i need to go back for the armour i still pass the whole level again i dont press quit hell no i really enjoy all mega man since i start played it in super nintendo i love that game

Insanely underrated game, personally my main issues with the game are the lack of polish (such as proper cut scenes) and the time.

I really like this one, good music, especially because of the story, it is actually the climax of the series at that point. And those multiple endings... but the levels feels like they doesn´t have anything new, and some scenarios graphics look rushed at least to me. The gameplay in comparison with X4 feels so similar... lineal... even simple... maybe short?
it's like if capcom show all their best ideas at the start, and it's very thrilling and cool :D, but they run out really fast... I mean... even the credits after the epiloge feels like abrupt :/

I played this game when I was 10. I never face zero in a maverick state. I was not even aware there was a count down. I think I got the story line where zero succeeds in the shuttle and I always alternate the usage of zero and x. Is that a factor that I got a high rate of success?

Never played this for ps1; I got to play it on the MMX collection on GC. It seems Capcom tried to avoid mentioning Dr. Wily in this game despite the evidence in the final stage.
The Mega Man series wasn't been the same since Inafune left and Capcom abandoning the series... Bring back the Blue Bomber Capcom!!! >:(
