  • - The kinetic sculpture ‘Duality’ that designed by David C. Roy was produced using a 3D printer.
    - Magnetic gear and general ball bearing (NSK 608Z1) were applied for reverse rotation of the front and rear wings.
    - Static force spring was used to rotate the wings.
    - The spring is released discontinuously by the escaping principle.
    - In conclusion, it was found that the size of sculpture should be increased, and improved products will be released in the near future.
    - I’m sure that this 3d printed kinetic sculpture will be helpful to enjoy your 3d print life. :)

    This kinetic sculpture is truly beautiful :-)
    Very ingenious and above all I like the working method used.
    I've seen few people on youtube work so well and with the right tools ...

      Thanks you for your interest on my work.
      I recommend making the latest version of my work. Because my work also getting more and more better :)
      And if bed size of 3d printer is 280 by 280 or more, it is suitable to make my product.
      Thanks:)

    두 휠이 반대로 돌아가는게 기어가 결홥된게 아니라 자석으로 하는 거군요 신기합니다.ㅎㅎㅎ 태엽과 escapement 메커니즘도 꼭 써먹고 싶은 구조인데 이렇게 활용하는 걸 또 잘 보고갑니다ㅎㅎ

    • @housdrmoon
      @housdrmoon  2 роки тому

      Thank you for your interest. 😀
      The magnets were used to rotate both of front and rear wings in opposite direction. That is called ‘magnetic gear’. You can find the mechanism of magnetic gear from other replies and also by googling. :)

    how does the magnetic coupling work (to get the reverse direction of spin)? is there a specific name for that type of coupling?

    • @housdrmoon
      @housdrmoon  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the question.
      The reverse rotation of the front and rear wings is caused by the force trying to balance the magnetic field between the center plate.
      The rotational force and number of rotations in the reverse direction depend on the number and strength of the magnets used.
      In general, this type of gear seems to be called just a magnetic gear.

      To distinguish it from direct magnetic coupling it is sometimes called a second order magnetic gear or magnetic device. Wikipedia has a paragraph on it in the Magnetic Gear page.

    Is it possible to find out where you purchased the static force springs from?

    • @housdrmoon
      @housdrmoon  3 роки тому

      Thank you for your question. :)
      In my case, static force springs were purchased from 'korea misumi' company. here is link: kr.misumi-ec.com/
      But, in your case, i think you should find another seller for the country in which you live.

    It's awesome but how many hours it will rotate?

    • @housdrmoon
      @housdrmoon  2 роки тому

      This project started with whether magnetic gear can be applied to kinetic art.
      The result was that it couldn't.
      The rotational force could not be maintained for a long time due to the magnetic force.
      As a result, the running time was less than 2 minutes.
      The link below is the kinetic art of the same design.
