How to Fix: Mouse Double Click Problem

  • As mice get older, their mechanical components become out of shape, literally. In this fix, you will need to bend a thin sheet of metal inside a mouse to prevent a single mouse click from registering as a double click. In this video, I disassembled a Logitech g300s and repaired the left mouse button.
    Tools needed:
    Phillips screwdriver
    Flathead screwdriver or guitar pick
Tweezers (not necessary but will make your life easier)
Do work in a well-lit room because if something from your mouse falls off, you will want to be able to find it.

    *Ok. I tried this, successfully.*
I have to say, those components are smaller than I thought and I had to use some additional light source and even my phone's macro lens (plus zoom) to be able to see it correctly.
As you say, arching the "H" on the plate is enough to give more tension to the spring (the "U" from beneath is the actual spring but arching the H is way easier and safer)
This gives more resistance to the click but you will get use to it fairly quick. The intervention was safe. There's barely any risk of damaging components, just be careful when prying open the switch casing. After the procedure I put everything back on its place, put the same gliders on and we are rolling.
    Advices:
    - Take a moment to clean your mouse as it's probably full of dead skin, dust and hairs.
    - Take pictures of your progress in case you need to take a step back or don't remember the case or spring plate orientation.

You saved my life, thank you, now the left clic is working perfectly, for the people looking in comments, you have to use a really small screwdriver to lift the metal part that closes the circuit, I personally used the Truper JOY-32, and other recommendation is to not lift so much the circuit plate because the laser might fall off.

Just tried your method and it's working well now. Thank you :) by the way, for whoever is gonna try fixing it, you should have a really small screwdriver. I couldn't at home so I opened screws with a knife. If you haven't done it before I'm son recommending. and the metal part is really small so careful :) thank you for the video

Bought omron d2fc K 50m, switch that's rated for 5x the one it came with, for less than 1.5 usd for 2, desoldered and swap both left and right click.
The best thing about swapping the switch yourself is, the experience and confidence you get to repair your own thing for other product.

I took small piece of paper and put few drops of isopropyl alcohol on it and squize it between joints when they were closed and move it few times, that cleaned and degreased surfaces, seemd worked for me perfectly

Thank you! It helped. It it reduced around 85% double clicks(probably could have done better but oh well good enough). I did lose the white thingy when it popped open but I found in the end😁.

It appears that Logitech put the mouse switches right below the mouse buttons, where you can't reach them in the G305. But your video was informative nonetheless.

this method did work incredibly.. but I'm not as delicate as you, So the thin metal thingy flew off of its' place.
I manage to put it back in, the mouse works great, but now it silent 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

Yeah, it takes a bit of practice! Safe to say this isn't the first time I did it as well. I used to do this a lot back in uni when I didn't have money for a replacement. You can always try bending it again until you get the right "bend."

it works as a mouse should be, without the double click, but the left click is now silent, and I can't feel the click lmao 😂😂@@DeuteriumTech
but it clicks tho.. not gonna bother redoing it.. don't want the thin metal piece to flew off again 😂

I did exactly what you show, with the same mouse, and now it's worse than ever. I have 95% times double click when I click once, while it was maybe 25% before. It's time to buy a new one I guess.

Yeah, sometimes things can't be fixed. You can still swap the buttons though if you have the spare parts but you'll need some soldering skills.

Yes this mouse's dead now. I bought a new one, cheaper version, and so far it's working perfectly fine.
