I made this and it was great. Only thing I'd change? use a tad more gelatin as this stuff is reeeeaaally goopy. and do not sub whipped cream and milk for half and half, as the milk fat separated from everything else.

I know its been a year but i want to try this, because i always loved the chatime egg pudding especially with the chocolate hazelnut but sadly its quite expensive for my broke ass student wallet in Indonesia. I recreated the pudding using local ingredients, because its hard to find gelatin and half and half cream, well i could order them online but it's too expensive and time consuming. If anyone interested i'll try to keep posting any updates here. Maybe it'll helpful if you live around Indonesia or hard to find any items on the recipe stated.
First, I substitued gelatin with agar-agar powder by swallow brand, many people said this is not working, but if you can handle them properly it'll work. But im still trying to mimic the agar-agar so they'll have the same texture as gelatin. I set the 1 tbsp of agar-agar for 10 minutes the same way as the gelatin at video.
And for the half and half cream, i substitued them with 210ml powdered milk and 2 tbsp of melted blueband (or margarine) actually its raw margarine but i only have blueband at the moment. Or you can use 120ml of milk and 120ml of heavy cream. I mix them on a saucepan, first i heat the milk on medium heat and add the melted blueband. I cook them the way like the video.
For the yolk, i only use 1 for first time. Cause i don't want my mom to kill me😂
And i cook them same way as the video. The first attempt is quite bad, the pudding doesn't look like the video, more like a raw cake dough. But i didn't throw them away because i still want them to work.
Second, i use the leftover of agar-agar powder pack and mix the bad batch pudding base like method of dropping the cream mix to the yolk on medium heat like video.
I'll update tomorrow with the second trial results.

It's been long time and everyone still waiting but because of my forgetful ass, I forgot to update. The experiment was a failure. After I cook them they tasted funny and weird, so I ended up throwing them away to use as a compose for my mom's plant😭😭 It's better to use gelatin and follow the original ingredients recipe. In my country right now there are some seller that sells the egg pudding powder that you can buy and make them yourself.

Half and half is just milk and heavy whipping cream 👍 i think you can use either or. I make custard pies and flan and use just heavy whipping cream
Coconut cream mixed half with soy milk, is a substitute for regular half and half.
But your blog recipe said Add 1 tsp. of gelatine to 2 tbsp. of the cream. Put aside (i.e., to bloom).
Heat up the rest of the cream on low heat. You want it to be hot but not simmering. But in this video you added to the water ?
Thank you for catching that! I have fixed the directions on the blog post (add 1 tsp. of gelatine to 1/4 cup of water). I wrote the directions to go with an earlier version of the recipe, and forgot to update the amounts when I changed some of the ingredients!

Does egg pudding taste sweet? I made an egg pudding using a water and egg pudding powder and the finish result is its has no taste, i mean ita not sweet at all😔
It’s a bit sweet, but the texture is really good. The appeal is mostly only had with the tea 🍵

lol, we do! we get eggs once a month from a farm that's a half-hour drive away, so to save time and gas, we get a month's supply all at once

There's nothing about it to give you food poisoning. The eggs are cooked, and even if they weren't, raw eggs don't make people sick.
