Don't worry about the warranty sticker. They can't legally reject your request for a refund just for opening it. If they did refuse, just do a charge back with your bank and complain that they scammed you, because they did.

They are spending too much time on marketing to get as many collections sold to them at rock bottom prices as possible, when in reality they should be hiring more staff to increase their quality and volume (without raising prices). They basically compensated for being overburdened by paying less for collections (creating elss work and increasing margins on the stuff they do get), charging more for items (lowering sales and creating more margin), and lowering quality. It's pure greed. It would only be excusable if they advertised less.

It really isn’t. I’ve never bought from dk but I’ve repaired a bunch of PSPs and sold them off eBay. Selling 20 year old consoles that have been used for god knows how long is a tough business. Things can break real easily. At the end of the day, if you’re the seller you want to make sure what you’ve sold them works, and if it begins to not work you want to know it hasn’t been tampered with.
In this case, they sent him a messed up device. If you leave the sticker, it’s indisputable that it’s on DK. And you get that for a year, which is a pretty good deal all things considered. If it wasn’t like that, it would be very easy for someone like myself to buy a PSP, take their working motherboard and swap it with a broken one and claim it never worked.
I get that DK might be a scummy company, but it’s at the point where people will take use anything they can find as ammo, even if it doesn’t even make sense.

@@ThisIsSrsBsnsMan Part swapping scams are indeed an issue, no argument there, which is why mfgs/refurbs are well within their rights to mark individual components (in non-descript ways that only they will recognize) so they can quickly know if a part has been swapped by the end user, and use THAT to deny warranty service. That is totally fine, and while it is a bit more work on the seller's part to individually mark each component, it is the legal way to go about preventing/deterring part swapping "scams" in a way that the seller can prove that user tampering has occurred.
The warranty labels themselves, however (the type that say "void if removed"), legally cannot be grounds alone for voiding any warranty, especially the ones that are external and only indicate that the product has been opened. The DK Oldies stickers, while it being mentioned in the video as saying "void if removed", I personally couldn't see that text, only "DK Oldies" and a faint "warranty" (the inclusion of the word "warranty" on the sticker, no matter how faint, is dubious and misleading, intentionally so). Sure, use a sticker as a means to quickly determine if the product has been opened, and if it has, then the burden of ensuring no part swapping has taken place lies on the seller inspecting each individual component that they have (hopefully) marked in a unique way.

I've had mine since 1996, it's been through a roach infestation, sitting unused for 15 years, 5 of the 15 in a damp closet, and 3 of thee 15 in the trunk of a broken down car and it still looks better than that.

Bro, this is the first video I have ever watched from your channel and I have to tell you that you are a good guy!! Giving DKOldies the benefit of the doubt is beyond being kind. We all know what type of ship they are running over there and honesty is not their forte. Bless you for having a kind and decent heart!!

Judging by how sticky that "rust" looked and the area around it, it honestly looks like a sugary drink was spilled on it.

There is no jumper Pak in it. Which it needs to get a picture on the TV if you're not using the expansion Pak. Hope that helps.

May or may not have direct effect on why the console does not function, but whatever the case it must have been stored in a extremely high humidity environment for a long period of time, if not directly in contact with some sort of liquid. If what I see is correct, that aluminum heat sink has actually corroded and pitted, something that aluminum usually does not do unless it is constantly exposed to moisture for long periods of time, so yikes. It definitely was not opened up and inspected, that’s for sure.

The main reason it won't work is because that memory bay on the top at the front was empty. It is supposed to have a memory pack in it. It needs it to run any game. A year or so after it was released they brought out what they called the expansion pack which made it possible to run the more demanding games. Which you removed the original memory pack in that slot and replace it for the expansion pack. If either are removed it won't work.

He doesn't take out the dummy pack until he takes it apart. When he's testing it, it's still in the console.
