Zachariah Van Ruiten Yes he’s an athlete but he’s also a celebrity. The definition of celebrity is a famous well known person. You may have never watched Kobe play basketball but you still know who he is because he’s well known.

Men see themselves in Kobe, as a great father as a protector as a truly loving person and knowing that this was the one time he could not protect those around him, especially his daughter, they are really feeling that... it is tearing every father apart inside.. it tearing every man up..this one is tearing all of us up inside.

@WIL SUPER Yes, yes and the reason that women dropped the criminal case was likely because she knew she would lose but pursued the civil case. I'm just curious if you think someone that is rich, that would dole out millions just to make the case stop to avoid as much media coverage as possible, is necessarily guilty? Kobe only ever stated that he thought it was consensual.
If you believe he did it, that's fine. If he is not someone you admired for his one the court play or his personality or charitable works off the court that is fine to. That still doesn't refute the fact that millions of people did admire him and looked up to him. Perhaps some could forgive his moral scrupples in cheating on his wife. Some can't, even if they never thought he raped anyone.
Only children think heroes are perfect people. I'm very honest when it comes to judging people. I was convinced he actually thought their interaction was consensual. I could be wrong. I'm also aware that sports athletes have women throwing themselves at them constantly. No different than any other groupie. So I don't judge as harshly the infidelity. Especially knowing this was the only incident that was ever reported and that he kissed his wifes ass, and as far as we know did everything (in her eyes) to make up for it to the point were they seemed to the public to be a loving couple... So yeah, you enjoy your little fantasy world of thinking he raped that girl. I'll keep my judgments based on the things I know about who he was and not a single incident, that according to the victim, she flirted and made out with Kobe for over 5 minutes and made no verbal objections to his groping of her that lead to the actual sex.
Feel free to read the court transcript and we can argue that if you really think he raped the girl. I have read both that and Kobe's initial statements.

It is truly heart breaking hearing these amazing stories about these people and how much love they brought to the world and from that I don’t ever want to take life for granted. This one hit different man I thought I wouldn’t cry as much as I been and boom it fucken it me again.
I’ve been a laker for 30 years and the one dream I had was to see them in staples. I bought my tickets in November to watch them play the bucks on March 6th. I told my girlfriend “listen this is a dream of mine and if I get emotional and start crying please understand why”. That Christmas she bought me my 1st laker jersey and I explained to her I didn’t want a jersey until Kobe was retired and that was the one I wanted. I unwrapped my gift and there it was the #8... Years ago I remember Kobe saying I’ve been a Laker fan my whole life and once I put that golden armor on I knew what it meant to be a Laker and for that one specific moment that I place that #8 on I knew what he meant.
A month passed by I’m watching us getting trashed by Philly and I’m cussing out the TV telling myself “Kobe would’ve pulled that game off some how and gave us the victory”.
I wake up the next morning about to take a shower and I see a video on World Star saying RIP Kobe and I said to myself no fucken way. I approach my GF she looks at me and says is Kobe dead. I stared into thin air for about 60 seconds walked to my couch and started crying cause I couldn’t believe it. I told my self the jersey I got from her wasn’t going to be touched until I stepped foot into staples because that’s how much this team meant to me. As we’re getting ready to get groceries for the week I took a second and told myself fuck it this is for Kobe and I’m wearing my golden armor right now at this moment.
As March approaches I don’t know how I’m going to react when I take my 1st steps to staples center seeing my fellow fans in there armor knowing we share the same bond for our team but most of all for Kobe. I just know tears will dripping down my face and I’m going to be full of emotion because of what laker pride means to me.
    RIP GIGI and RIP JELLYBEAN...
8/24 for Kobe and #2 for GIGI the mini mamba Bryant...

As a lifelong Celtics fan, I can remember watching Rick Fox crying after the death of Reggie Lewis (in July 1993). I'm also old enough to remember the deaths of Len Bias and Pistol Pete Maravich. Celtics fans know this type of grief all too well.

As someone who’s gone through a tragic loss. It never ends, it never goes away. It kinda just fades into the background but the pain is always there.

I know firsthand the terror that ricks family went through in the moments before they got a hold of him and knew he was OK. I am so sorry that the rest of the families who did not get that same good news. Nothing is worse than finding out that what you fear the most in the world is now a reality. My heart goes out to all the loved ones left behind who will grieve for the rest of their lives.

Rick fox I love you man..when I was a kid I saw you and Dee Brown at the Arsenal mall during a celtics event and I came up to you guys and you were like giants to me, I was so happy to see you that I had to hug you guys and you were super cool about it...when I heard that you were there I was very emotional but I'm glad at least you were ok . R.I.P. Kobe 😔❤🙏

TMZ. I appreciate that you reported the news of this tragic event quicker than any media companies. But goddamn, get your fucking facts straight before telling us that Rick was on the helicopter too. That broke my heart along with others too.

It's tough losing Kobe, it still feels unreal. Watching him on the court and all the incredible memories he left behind that Laker jersey would never be forgotten. Even tho Kobe isn't here anymore just seeing the globe react to his death is some that you wouldn't have thought one basketball player can cause. And even after his death, friends and family are coming together which is showing he's still having an impact to this very moment.

i was 10, 11, 12 etc years old growing up with Lakers shaq/kobe era and grew up passionately about those Laker teams. its still beyond words and surreal to me 15 years later seeing rick fox/fisher/shaq sitting in this video mourning Kobe's death..im still in disbelief. It still hurts man..ill never fully recover from Kobe passing away. im a 34 year old now, and watching this still has me in tears as if it the tragedy barely happened the same day. RIP Kobe

The death of Kobe Bryant and his daughter,,, alone with the others that was in the helicopter crash with them are really bring together city,, a nation and the NBA as one.. there's not one human being, man or woman, black or white, young or old, that this tragedy hasn't had some kind of effect on
Mentally and emotionally. I never had the opportunity to see him play games in person, but like so many other I've watched him on tv. And he was an amazing fearless player and when he stepped out on to that basketball court YOU can best believe he brought his A game with him every person in this world is praying for his wife, his remaining children, his parents and his sisters,. May god bless them, touch them, as they go through this most painful time in their lives. With God's help and as time passes hearts will heal and the minds and emotions will rest,

Man this hurt. The world lost a real one, but he brought unity. The interviews I keep watching of him make me smile. His smile was warm. His voice was full of compassion and humility. His game was intense. You can definitely tell he was at a place of peace and wanted to be the best version of himself. He will be missed. My prayers to everyone involved. Sad sad sad day in America, January 26th. 🕊🏀👑
