On its face, I *totally* understand what Shannon is saying. However, I still said to myself, "Kobe was just beginning the second 'act', if you will, of his life, and now that will remain unfinished.". I'm not a Lakers fan, per se (I don't hate or disrespect them, though, either) but I respected players like Kobe, Shaq, Kareem, and Magic *A. LOT.* simply because they were the best of the best, and they got to where they were/are by having a strong work ethic. I think the thing that sucks the most about *Kobe's* death is that he was, what, only a couple years(?) into the "second act" of his life before it was tragically taken from his loved ones. *THAT* hurts, because a lot of people have said that Kobe's "second act" was going to be just as great as his "first act" (his NBA career), and yet, he hardly got a "second act" to perform, so to speak.
And don't even get me started on GiGi... ugh. :(

Then when something like what happened to Kobe happens I realized I just need to enjoy the moment and not think about how old I am because it’s irrelevant. We have no idea when it can suddenly be over so just enjoy it and don’t spend time focusing on the negative things. Tune it out because none of that BS will matter when we’re gone. Good things won’t matter either but I’d rather spend the time I do have focusing and enjoying the good things in life.

MJ's death was surprising, but I knew his health wasn't the best.
Kobe's death was just insanely surprising and out of nowhere. He was in the prime of his health, no sicknesses, on no medications, still exercised regularly and played basketball for fun, probably could've dominated any non-NBA basketball league in the world. He was the last person you'd expect to die.

Nearly always when a famous person dies suddenly, you instantly just feel low and bad. With Kobe, it was instant denial. It was such a shock acceptance couldn't happen yet.
