  • I would prefer to call this "the great top down vs bottom up method of lighting a fire - experiment". But UA-cam suggests that it seems too long. For ages I have been using the bottom up method, until a bunch of people bang on about the top down method, it makes no sense. However it could be tested. So using my go-pro and Charnwood c5 burner I thought I could scientifically measure this, and share my findings.

    Heat closer to the baffle moves air up the flue quicker, burns better

      Yes. Definitely. Bottom up works too but fewer re-lights needed. It feels like I am cheating but it works and I am a fan of "path of least resistance".
