I'm using the new pal 800 V3 pedal into a Fender Super Reverb vs a Marshall JCM 800 2203x with 4x12. The Marshall has the Hot Mod V2 in it for extra gain. This pedal is so spot on with the clean fender amp, I just tweaked the knobs on the pedal for about 5 minutes. Let me know what you think!

I'm glad you pointed out the subtle difference due to speakers. I was thinking that the whole way through up to that point. My V3 is on order, and will be pumped through a 2x12 with Heritage H30 55hz/75hz combo. Nice demo. Thanks for posting it!

great review.. I think the open back of the Super definitely gives a more open feel but less GUT PUNCH.. the upper mids of the Marshall is obvious.. hits you in the chest.. this V3 version does seem to be a great one.. were you using the #34 switch ? would be nice to hear this through the same cab.. love your reviews..

Thanks I don't remember this video years ago, but I have a bunch of videos of that pedal if you search my videos for Pal 800

I'm guessing if you ran both set ups through the same speaker cabinet, the differences would very hard to distinguish.

Thanks for sharing this - both have great sound! It may be the speakers, or the position of the mic, I listened with my eyes closed and smiled every time I heard chords through the Marshall. That chunk/bass/wholeness/depth is what I love.
Preferred the Fender for those slow lead notes (man, Fender tone, right?)
Which sucks, was hoping to save 1000 by getting the pedal... Lol.
Will run this through my Marshall cab, 4*12.
Again, thanks for the killer demo!

Also try the Aura brown Sugar or White Sugar. In some ways they are better.

Did you adjust the internal setting to make the pedal brighter (or does it have that....the V1 has it) ? Jcm sounds a little brighter to me...both sound killer

I own the 1959 version 2 as well as the 800 V1 and they both have the internal trim pot. I’ve found the 800 is more compressed and a little smidge darker but it also gets much angrier.
I adjusted the internal trimpots to have more brightness on both and I think it helps to reproduce the true plexi chime

I am 1st time and new Subscriber to your Channel. Can I run a High Gain Boost before the pedal as I would the JCM800 Head to tighten and push the pedal into Metal territory ? The Company said yes, but I want to get feedback from experienced Guitarist. Even like a Strymon Riverside before on High Gain. I think it the two would go together very well. Thank You.

@@HollywoodRareGuitars hey thanks for the reply! I have this pedal now and I've tried boosting it. You are right that it's noisy, at least when it comes to passive humbuckers. When I run it with one of my active equipped guitars there's really no noise. At least nothing outta control. Great pedal. I'll never sell it. I'm now thinking of buying a JMP and getting the legendary tones hot mod for it!
