    ATTENTION: You still have to wire the sensors backwards from what he explains in the video to get them to work. Black to White on both sides not black to black and white to white as he explains. If you do not do this the sensors will not work properly. I spent way to long on this before scrolling through the comments. Hopefully by posting this again it will appear at the top of the comment section.

      Is that why my sensors lights did not work and the garage kept opening but not closing?

      Thanks for adding this important piece of information. Your correct it's NOT like rewiring a lamp etc in your home.

      Just installed my sensors. Michelle is absolutely correct. I attached the white wire with the white wire and white/black with white/black as per instructions. It did NOT work. Crossed them like MM stated here and it worked. THX MM.

      Just changed out my sensors and had to cross the wires. I guess the wiring was different 11 years ago. Also, the wire connectors he used in the video didn't work for me. I read online that that type of connector only works with multi strand wires. The sensors I got were single strand, so I just ended up twisting and taping.

    Do we have to strip the wires if we use that crimp on? Looks like you just stuck it in there without stripping it. Thanks

  • @tweaty555

    Worked! I didn't even have to use the supplied new mounting brackets. Also, the 2-wire silicon splice connectors come with the replacement kit.
    Both Lowe's and Home Depot carry these kits. You just have to make sure this generic replacement kit (Chamberlain - Model # 801CB) matches your door's sensor description.

    FYI according to this video (ua-cam.com/video/c854VnEjHaA/v-deo.html) the connectors are called jelly crimp connectors and you don't have to strip the wires before inserting them.

    I did the replacement, but part of the garage door is rubbing against the back part of the clips. It looks like as the garage door goes down, it shifts slightly and the bolt that holds the cable at the bottom of the door rubs against the 2 flat parts of the clips. The original mount was using one screw to hold the bracket to the rail. I can't mount it to the wall because the clip is not long enough. I have it temporarily on top of a can near the door. Any thoughts?

    Nice video! I had a couple of questions. Does it matter which side the sender and receiver are on? Also, does the wire w/ the stripe get connected to the positive or negative terminal on the controller? Thanks in advance for your help!

    8 Wires & 4 Wires. I have 8 wires, 4 wires on each side.
    Directions
    twist solid color wires together
    Twist stripe color wires together
    That makes 2 twisted wires on each side.
    Connected 2twisted wires to top screw and two twisted wires to bottom screw.
    Test
    When wired right Geen LED is on (not blinking) and Red LED is on (not blinking) when sensors are alighted.
    Sensors are not aligned Red LED blinks
    Wires 8 or 4 wiring.

    1. It would have been more helpful if the installer showed the 2 sender / receiver sensors and green and amber lights for noobs like me.
    2. There seems to be some commenters who said that the wiring of white to white and black to black has to be reversed. This seems to be a detail that an experienced installer would know right ? Can it be that the wiring of the wires was reversed back at the garage door opener itself ? Thanks

  • @igoski1582

    The video did not say anything about lining up the sensors! Always, one is green and the other is yellow. Yellow is the sending the green is receiver. It doesn't matter which side you put either color. If the sending has power, the yellow light stays on sending the signal to the green receiver. If the green receiver is not on or blinks, it's not lined up. When the green light stays on, it's lined up a working. The video fails at not saying anything about this.

    I've never done wiring but I'm going to attempt to replace the sending eye (ordered from Amazon, hasn't arrived yet). So, stupid question... do I need to turn off the breaker switch to the garage door before I do this?

    • @Cptkarma6
      @Cptkarma6 3 роки тому +2

      Not a stupid question... you should be fine just unplugging the opener before you splice the new unit. Good luck ~ it really is simple ✌🏼

    • @ChereAthey
      @ChereAthey 3 роки тому +2

      @@Cptkarma6 Thanks. Mission accomplished about a week ago. The instructions that came with the eye said to unplug it. (Something told me to cut the power source before cutting the wire). It was a very good feeling to fix it myself as well as saving a ton of $. The garage door people wanted $99 just to come out and check it out!

    Will new sensors get rid of the problem with sunshine screwing them up and not shutting? I haven't always had the problem with the sun screwing up the shutting of the door. I just changed out my sensors and I'm getting no light up on either of the sensors. How does that wire get connected within that silicone crimp case? I crimped them, both whites in one and both blacks in one. There's no juice getting into the new sensors.

    • @edwardmoody4253
