im not 100% sure on this but since i play without time travel i figured id toss my 2 cents in, could help someone if they stumble on this like i did, haha. from my experience you can call them at ANY time, and they MIGHT rebattle you. i think this is actually the percentage serebii is talking about, which does seem to be low. however each trainer does have a specific time they WILL battle you, as well as calling you to tell you they will rebattle you after a certain period of time. you can check either by calling them, OR on your map, routes with "!" will have rebattles. their teams DO get stronger as well, which helps scaling. the OTHER way ive found for exp grinding requires another game for best effect. that game being gen 4 pearl/diamond/plat. in SS/HG getting the lucky egg (boost exp) is quite a chore. its much easier in the other gen 4 games with the trophy garden.

Thief the Chanseys for a chance at Lucky Egg, if you happen to use Shuppet as your Thief, youll know ahead of time if its worth bothering or running bc of Frisk. this is also a pretty easy way to get Chansey, outside of the Lucky Egg farm. if you are trying to CATCH Chansey, i HIGHLY suggest Parasect, as False Swipe and Spore are incredible. anyways after you have the Lucky Egg, you can trade it over, and a lot of training spots open up for casual play in SS/HG on top of what already existed with rebattles, gym/e4 rematch. some of my favorite spots are: Mt Silver (outside and inside), Cerulean Cave, Tangela grass patch south of Pallet Town and surfing around there too, and even Victory Road/Ice Path isnt as awful either, Ice Path specifically is one of my favorites to just run thru for no reason lmao. i try to do e4/gym rebattles with a MUCH lower lvl pokemon, using an exp share, then once they are in the 40s, use the lucky egg (with no exp share on anyone) and kinda just vibe. another important note is that traded pokemon DO train much faster. for this reason i bred a lot of pokemon in diamond to trade them over to soul silver. this also has the added benefit of giving you potentially better odds at the lottery, with different trainer IDs and such. also you could always trade them over to diamond/pearl/plat and train them there too, since they'd get the traded boost, and wild pokemon are scaled MUCH better in sinnoh. but yeh, i prefer soul silver, so this is what ive done. im currently working on my living dex. sorry for the repeated shit i was editing and you pinned, haha.
Actually there a better way : just rematch the 8th gym leader of joto (i forgot her name) and the only thing you have is exit call and enter dojo (~30k exp)
the lucky is egg is easy af lol. get a butterfree or yanma with compound eyes and teach them thief. ( compound eyes raises the % for finding a held item on a pokemon ). i guess since you dont time travel you have to wait for chansey’s day for breakouts
getting a lucky egg literally took me 5 attempts. its not hard. you need a pokemon that has both waterfall + surf (both via hm) so you can just use the shiny gyarados if you caught it. then get a pokemon with headbutt. now ensure you have pokeballs (recommend 1x quick ball + 10x dusk ball during night) go to route 47, go inside the cave with 3 floors, go to the most bottom floor and surf then use waterfall to climb up, you'll see the patch of grass and then you will want to headbutt the trees next to the patch of grass until you encounter a lvl 25 butter free (pretty sure its essential to get a lvl 25 one), then you will chuck a quick ball immediately, if it fails just lower it and spam 10x dusk balls during night. you should have caught it by now and what you want to do is get the TM thief on it. make sure you have some repels (i used 3 max repels) go back to kanto to route 15 ensure butterfree is at the top of your team and you want to hunt for a chansey (do not kill any pokemon you need butterfree to be lvl 25). once you find one use thief immediately. if it doesnt drop just run (remember lvl 25 butterfree is essential). it took me 4 pidgeottos to get a chansey with a lucky egg. idk if i got lucky but thats how you do this fast.
I've discovered that you don't need to save and change time every single time, you need to do this only for the first time! For example: I did set the date = Monday 3:59 AM - Then I started battling Brent every single time without saving and/or changing time again, it worked 100% of the time I called him with the Pokegear. The fact is that the gap of time that you can call some trainers are a few hours, like you can call Brent every monday from 4:00 AM to 10:00 AM non-stop, it's amazing!
It makes me so happy to see so many people replaying Heartgold/Soulsilver in recent years, it is my favorite Pokemon games! I have both games, currently I have the Cute Charm glitch which makes shiny Pokemon very common with my Cute Charm Jigglypuff, and I love having a team of shiny Pokemon. However I did notice leveling up can be such a grind (especially since newer Pokemon games on 3DS and Switch has spoiled me with faster ways to level up more easily). Thank you so much for this video tutorial. I plan on resetting Heartgold as well for the same reason, Cute Charm glitch like in Soulsilver.
I got SS for my 8th birthday and never really got into Pokemon games but kept up with the news and media. XY was one of my fave shows and with the recent trailer, I picked up SS again and my goodness I have fallen in love. Found an authentic Poke White for $40 which i'll be playing after! Such fun games, wish I woulda played them sooner.
I beat Red with a lvl 70 Ho-Oh, 60 Dragonite, 50 Lugia and 3 lvl 40 fillers. It’s not that bad lol pressure draining PP with revives, while swapping between Ho-Oh and Lugia is a cool trick.
I can't believe that people are still making videos for this game. It's very surprising and much needed by me to get up-to-date videos. Also this really helped with the Red and Lance rematch battles.
From my experience, you don’t need anything to roll over. Just set it to the right date and time, and you can fight them as many times as you want until their time window ends.
@@shellshock10 just go back like in the video but you don't need to exit the game and set the time back. Just call the trainer again and he will be fighting you again.
You should just be able to walk to another route an call the trainers back. You shouldn't need to change the clock again. So long as it's in the time range they normally accept rematch challenges.
Thank you grinding for Red was painful. The problems gym leader schedules and the actual strength of the elite four and unskippable credits make this the far superior grinding method
Put your Pokémon in the daycare and go to Morty’s gym. Walk straight from the door into the hole and you’ll respawn at the door. Use something to hold down the up button on the D pad and your character will walk into the pit over and over again. Go to work or school and you’ll have a level 100 in about a day.
@@SUUNT_RP it worked from me i went from level 20 to 65 in one day. left my ds plugged in with a real HG and a real SS. game. only down side is that it added 30 hours go game play time to my save file.
You can actually just leave the area he's in without having to reset the clock each time. So you can walk into the little adjoining building before you reach him and call him again.
Two years later I definitely used this. For those hurting for money and don’t have the amulet, you can use this to battle sailor Huey in the lighthouse and he gives you a protein after EVERY battle. That’s $4900 extra per battle to rack up some serious money
Johto is my favourite region, too bad the level distribution of the game is so bad. It is like the game wasn't designed for players to train 6 pokemon, the exp is only enough for maybe 4 pokemon to get levels without extra grinding.
Ikr and the pokemon that are somewhat reliable have the same horrid slow growth rate which makes fights much more problematic because you focus more exp on that 1 pokemon and under level the rest of them
alright everyone who is training before the e4 just rematch trainer gavin on route 26 after you get past ho oh and you're on your way to the e4. the trainer you rematch in this video doesn't reach its best potential until after you have all 16 badges. Gavin's team has a level 34 victreebel, kingler and flareon. Way better than Brents not even fully evolved team at this point in the story. The time you set for Gavin is Thursday morning (4am-10am).
Thanks. I need to farm exp as my team is pretty underlevelled at Lvl 30 and 31. I want to use super effective hits and want to evolve my poor Quilava which has not evolved and I can't do anything if my Lapras gets KO'd. I like how Gen 5 had Shaking Bush encounters which had guaranteed encounters for Audino making it easier.
I farmed chansey in HG and as I was done catching, not only did I get 2 eggs during an outbreak, but also a shiny nidorino in the grass. Very nice. At lv 84 with my dragonite.
Hey just wanted to give my insight. What I've found is that you can immediately re-call a gym leader during their rematch window and battle them repeatedly. That's level 50+ 5 deep teams at your disposal to farm for not only that, but the money with ammy coin...it's nuts
I tested a few other variations of this out and all you really have to do is battle Brent, go back into the little passage thing instance, and then just call him again and that works, it’s a lot faster and I wouldn’t have found this out without the original video
About 3:35, I don't think the farming levels on Brent doesn't really require restarting the DS over and over to roll the time to 4am. Just like farming money from Alfred, you can re-battle Brent just by using the same method.
After you beat both regions, you have a change to find each of the gym leaders somewhere in the map (check serebii for exact location and times) once you get their phone numbers, if you call at a certain time of the day they want to rematch you with lvl 55+ pokemon. I find this easier because i can choose which gym type i want to fight to level up a certain pokemon type advantage. And you can keep rematching as long as your in the right time window You should probably pin this comment
I didn't know about these, but I think rematching the gym leaders remains easier. Their levels are generally higher and they have bigger teams. Because they're specialised, it's easier to train lower level pokemon more efficiently too. For example, I have a lvl 50 Staraptor; I can isolate the bug or grass gym, get a type advantage and basically sweep their teams more easily (as opposed to that one Gyardos that may not go down so easily) without having to use an exp share (meaning it levels faster). If you have multiple pokemon to train, then you also don't need to mess with the time settings so much. The Dojo also isn't that far from a poke center, so you can heal them easily. As for the people needing levels to fight Red. Beating him is pretty doable if you know what you're doing with a team of lvl 65-70 pokemon and the right items. Only Charizard may pose a problem; if it's faster it may spam air slash and flinch you (constantly). You don't need a team of lvl 80 pokemons. There's no shame in having a second try (RNG is a thing, maybe your strategy wasn't entirely fool proof and needs a little adjustment). Red's team lacks diversity of types; coverage moves and it will never have EVs too (by this point you will and then it really doesn't matter too much in which stats they're invested); so more important than levels is a good team (e.g. a gengar, a choice scarfed mamoswine or a starmie alone can do some serious damage).
@@Sailor-Khione You can rematch all gym leaders, Johto and Kanto, by finding the gym leaders (they'll be outside of their gym at a given time of the week - look on Serebii or Bulbapedia for the exact locations and dates), talking to them so you get their number and then calling them on a specific time (they'll tell you what time that is). Then they'll be in the Fighting Dojo in Saffron City.
There is a debatably better fight to EXP grind spot on and it’s Blue. After you beat him as a gym leader and get a massage from his sister for one of your Pokémon 5 times (available from 3-4 PM). Then show her a mon with MAX happiness. Once you do ALL of that, you can get Blues number who is the strongest fight outside of Red and the Champion rematches who you odds are are grinding for. He’s available on Sunday nights to battle and WILL rock you if you’re not careful. It’s a LOT of work (especially without going into your DS clock) but if you can pull it off, you got yourself an almost champion tier fight that you don’t need to lock yourself into the League or climb up Mount Silver to fight.
Thank you! For the lucky egg use a pokemon like Venonant with the ability compound eyes (boosts chance to hold item) and a Stantler with the frisk ability and the move theif (tells you what item the pokemon is holding and then you can just steal it and run) I got 2 in about 30 mins.
Here’s some quick and easy time saving tips: turn dialogue speed to fast, switch to the ‘set’ style so you don’t have to switch your mon, and turn of battle scene. Also, you can move the Brent call up to the top so you don’t have to keep scrolling down. Hope that helps 👍
you can actually just go a little ways further down route 26 and there's a little house with a girl that will heal your pokemon, and faster than a pokemon center
Thanks a bunch for this! It’s a lot more fun and easy to level up like this then using that boring daycare method that might overlevel your pokemon by accident 😂
So, I was like, 11 or 12 when I got HG, and by mistake, I freed my Togepi. My Togepi was holding my exp share... I was too young to think straight and decided I'd rather never have access to the EXP share (and the Togepi line) ever again instead of losing a few hours of progress... Still suffering from this L to this day.
@@ThedomiNATION my plan was to make my brother buy SS, then convince him to trade me his EXP share and Togepi, but that's a little too devilish for me lol. Plus, I still only have one ds, and have yet to experiment with the still active DNS Adress to play online... I might get to it eventually, but right now I'm kinda burnt out on Pokémon. Not to mention most of the 'Mons I need to complete my pokedex are all in the safari zone... 😱
Thanks for the time saver. Struggling to find a way to level up before Red. Best part is the poke fans highest level team is available after beating the last Kanto gym and before Red. Thanks.
I wish I’d found this video sooner. I always recommend getting a good frisk/thief monster like Stantler for the games where wild held items are a thing. I couldn’t imagine catching Chansey after Chansey for the 10% egg chance.
all you need to do is set your date to monday at 4 am and when u get on the game there is no need to change the time again all you need to do is battle him and after that you call him again and repeat the process
Great vid and great work but changing times and dates after every battle for rebattles seems way more tedious than just buying a few revives, hyper potions, and full heals. The lucky egg tip is very nice tho. I might be doing that soon since my party is in the 77-80 range and leveling up takes forever
How do I make it so pokemaniac Pokémon are higher levels? Just set the date farther ahead?….. will I have a problem going back to regular date if I want to
@@jakestrong8939 The levels of the rematches get heigher for every achievement, (might be inaccurate) 1, beating eleite 4 2, unlocking national dex, etc etc. So the farther through the game you progress, the higher levels the rematching trainers become. First, set your time to monday, 3:59. load up your game and exit and enter the bycicle pass through, Call him and rematch. then just re exit and enter the bycicle path and call him again and he will battle, with no need at all to reset the clock on your ds. also online training and battling with mystery gifts from 2009 are back in 2023, lmk if you want more info
Thanks for some places to go to. I'm thinking about looking into the rematching system more later though. Just in case or for certain benefits for some pokemon. Prior to the E4 I fight wild pokemon on the same route the safari zone is on. You go up a waterfall and you can fight ditto as well. If they transform they give more exp as well.
Right lol. Lots of people don't have a second system to trade themselves or even have another gen 4 game to trade between. But great if you do of course.
Im watching this in 2024 cause i have a copy of SS and HG from a trade show. After MANY MANY YEARS, I’ve finally beat RED!😭 This js so easy and definitely the BEST way to lvl up. Had Alakazam,Typhlosion,Snorlax ,Gliscor,Dragonite and Vaporeon Best team hand down!
No, You don't need to go to make change time or day or restart your HG/SS in your 3DS. The all trainers can re-battle to you for a few hours on its scheduled. it's endless week.
@@ThedomiNATION suggest you, you use lucky egg hold your Pokémon at first party, it would to level up fast than normal. You can use stantler or butterfree would tell you that chansely has lucky egg at route 13, when Mary would like to announce it on pokegear. It use thief TM to steal it. Warning: do not charge the time nor use different ds or 3ds system, Mary won’t announce about Chansely.
There’s a better way put Pokémon in the day care after that every step you take is 1 xp point then go to ekruteak gym and enter then hold forward you’ll rune off the edge and spawn back at the start then just repeat
Thank you so much for this, I’m a little under leveled for the Elite 4 and I needed this so thank you so much (I hope this works on soul silver) But thank you for making this, this is gonna help me out a lot

@@jbart4183 I’m sure you’ll get there, it’s gonna take a lot and I mean a lot of grinding for red but I know I’ll get there and honestly, Lance and his 3 dragonites were difficult for me but I lucked out, but yeah, let’s keep up that grind 😤😤
i know the moves get messed up on pokemon, but putting 2 pokemon in the daycare and then walking up in the 4th gym infinitely can get level 100 overnight
I swear I thought I didn't need this to play this game, but I noticed that there was something wrong with the lvl cap of this game when Clair has a team of lvl 40 pokemons and the wild pokemons near the gym only have lvl 20, I can do it pass it even with low lvl pokemons with the help of potions and revives, but I really want a faster way to raise the level of my Magnemite, which in fact all the lvl levels in Safari in this game are very low, they come in between lvl 15 and 20 at the time of the game when you already have lvl 30 Pokemons
…wouldnt just re-challenging the gym leaders give more? Plus you don’t have to reset the clock everytime. Just change to that time/date and recall after every battle
This video is super helpful!! I'm having an issue getting the Chansey swarm. I've reset multiple times and all I'm getting is Ditto. Could I be doing something wrong? I'm not sure if I need to save the game after it rolls over to the new day, but it just seems like the swarm is stuck on Ditto
I personally do not know how the swarms work in HGSS as I’ve never done them before! You might need to do something with the radio app though to activate a new swarm!
I think the trainer Pokémon levels is based on game progress and not how many times you fought them. Like you won’t see the third battle until after the E4
All Pokémon games where you can rebattle trainers, the level scaling is based on how far through the game you have played. I have gotten all 16 gym badges and beat red at Mount silver so that’s probably why the levels are higher for me
So I can actually throw in my two cents as well like the pinned comment. Yes rematching trainers are good, but resetting the clock everytime gets tedious and its not even that much exp, what I recommend is rematching the gym leaders, yes its tedious getting the numbers but its way better than the trainers and here is a list of reasons why: 1. You can just rematch them, defeat them, stand outside the dojo and repeat the process until their preferred time of day cycle ends (Ex. You can rematch Janine from the start of the Daytime-start of noon, which is about a couple hours and if one battle is 4 minutes, that would be 15 battles an hour x a couple hours, calculating the exp and the amount of time you can spend, its a WAY better method) 2. You can call them multiple times without having to save and restart the clock, simply get to their preferred time of day and you can call them until their preferred time of day ends. (Simple math here: 4 mins (a battle) x 6 hours (15 battles x 6 = 90) x 14000xp per battle (14000 x 90 = 1.260.000 exp)
I actually made a mistake in this video and you don’t have to reset your clock every time. You just need to be in the time frame they want rematches and keep rematching them
@@ThedomiNATION while yes, that is true, I still believe the gym leader way is superior due to the difference in exp they give, since the max a trainer has is 4 Pokemon (excluding the magikarp guy), and the gym leaders can have 6 and as long as you have a Pokèmon good against all six, it gives way more exp AND the gyms are way less diverse.
Yeah I won’t lie… this method doesn’t work until after you defeat the 7th gym leader, and beaten team Rocket in the radio tower unfortunately, so it’s great if you wanna challenge the elite four with a higher level team to gain quick experience points, but not so useful if you wanna grind your Pokemon to anything prior to that point of the game
That’s how all Pokémon games are. They put a cap on how strong rematches are so if you’re trying to level grind with say level 30 Pokémon, you don’t get stomped by a trainer with level 60 Pokémon just Becuase you battled them 4 times
Please I need help! I have a problem ): I did all the things I had to do, but when I rematch Brent, He battles me with Gyarados level 41, Lickitung level 38, Nidorina level 38 and Nidorino level 38, I did rematch him like 7/8 times, but it keeps showing up those pokemon, on serebii it says that the fourth battle has Gyarados level 48, Lickitung level 40, Nidoqueen level 58 and Nidoking level 58, but why can't I battle him with these pokemon? ): edit: now it works, in order to spawn those pokemon to the max level you have to: 1. beat the Elite 4 2. have the National Dex! 3. earn all the badges of both regions! thank you for you help!
people: complain about lack of difficulty in newer games also people: complain about the difficulty in older games Pokemon fans in a nutshell hehe (I miss the old school ways..)
Alright After beating the elite 4, First I'll going to find a Chansey With the Lucky Egg Luckly In HeartGold & Soulsilver Is Almost Easy to het the Lucky Egg,
I have battled Brent a couple of times but his Pokemon level are always as per the second battle levels, I'm playing on Drastic Emulator and clock setting seems to work in a similar way. Is there something I'm missing?
i’m not sure but, i didn’t need to change the time to 3:59, i was able to just change the time to 7:37 (my time) and monday and it worked, not sure if it’s because i’m using a Nintendo DS rather than a 3DS
I'm just rebattling the bosses in Saffron city's gym. 1) Find a boss that plays with types weak to the pokemon you're lvling up 2) Set your in game time to the time you can call each one (I am doing Morty so I've set it on Tuesday night) 3) Every time you beat them, go out, call them instantly, go inside and battle them again. For Morty I one shot everything with my garchomp and he gives me 18,760 exp every time. I am playing on my phone though via emulator so perhaps this won't work on the ds.
I just beat the Ecruteak (the 4th, ghost type) gym, so idk if this is only something you can do later game, but I can't seem to get this to work for me or to find a place to level. Only finding like up to level 20ish pokemon to grind on, and trying to grind my team to 34 to keep up with the game progression is getting tiresome even with the exp share I have now. Any suggestions?
wouldn't the elite 4 be better I'm assuming if your trying to get to max level that your trying to challenge Red because that's the only real reason, although I suppose the pokemon being under level 50 gives you a way to get your pokemon leveled upto the re-challenge of the elite 4 also obviously I assume there are trainers with lower level caps so it's a good way to get a pokemon upto rechallenge the elite 4 and also challege them in the first place without having to rince your pokemon up against them a bunch of times to get the levels to beat them.
I dont know what i am doing wrong. Brent have the same level of his pokemons, also I traded from Platinum a Darkrai (from event) and is holding lucky egg. When i defeat gyarados lvl 48 only get around 2k of exp.
Make sure none of your Pokémon are holding an exp share. That will split the exp amongst whoever’s battling and whoever’s holding the exp share resulting in each Pokémon receiving half exp!
Is it stupid that I used a Mewtwo to grind the Elite 4 with Aura Sphere, Shadow Ball, Ice Beam and Psychic, and PP Up maxed on each attack. This Mewtwo blast through the Elite 4 easily without needing to heal in the middle of it. Idk... Seemed like a really easy set-up for power leveling other Pokemon with an exp-share.
Not stupid at all! Some people just like to not be locked into the 5 battles you need to do for the elite 4 and like to fully heal between if they can! All a personal preference!
@@ThedomiNATION If you don't do much switching Pokemon, Mewtwo at lvl100 with those moves will wipe the Elite 4 with ease. If you are switching in Poke, then I use about 7 hyper potions to get through the E4. I don't run out of PP, because the PP has been maxed on most abilities. (Psychic is about 16, Aura Sphere is at like 32, etc.) I also don't have a good nature and did not EV train it. I caught it and used it while searching for other Pokemon or playthrough post game stuff. Just wanted to share an idea to help you or others with Soul Silver or Heart Gold specifically since I am working on completing the Gen4 national livingdex.
im not 100% sure on this but since i play without time travel i figured id toss my 2 cents in, could help someone if they stumble on this like i did, haha.
from my experience you can call them at ANY time, and they MIGHT rebattle you. i think this is actually the percentage serebii is talking about, which does seem to be low. however each trainer does have a specific time they WILL battle you, as well as calling you to tell you they will rebattle you after a certain period of time. you can check either by calling them, OR on your map, routes with "!" will have rebattles. their teams DO get stronger as well, which helps scaling.
the OTHER way ive found for exp grinding requires another game for best effect. that game being gen 4 pearl/diamond/plat.
in SS/HG getting the lucky egg (boost exp) is quite a chore. its much easier in the other gen 4 games with the trophy garden.

the OTHER way ive found for exp grinding requires another game for best effect. that game being gen 4 pearl/diamond/plat. in SS/HG getting the lucky egg (boost exp) is quite a chore, since chanseys spawn rates are so low (1%), and the rate for lucky egg doesnt do any favors (5%). its much easier in the other gen 4 games with the trophy garden. youll need: pokemon with compound eyes ability, lvl18, and knows the TM Thief. they CAN all be the same. for example, i use a lvl18 Venonat. the other way you can approach this is by having a FAINTED pokemon first in your party, since compound eyes out of battle effect (which boost chance of held items) still works even if they are fainted, then have your lvl18 that knows Thief second in party (Shuppet is best for this because of its ability Frisk.) after you have all that, then go save in front of Backlot. now you can talk to him till he mentions Chansey, if he doesnt, soft reset. when he does, go out to the garden, use max repels and youll only run into lvl18 Chansey and Pikachu's.
@@wooskys8685 i didnt even wait for a breakout i simply just grinded in route 15. it takes like 10 mins max (even faster if ur using emulator with ff)
That’s so good to know! Makes this method that much better!
This comment is amazing.
Oh my god this comment is perfection
OMG I LOVE YOU!!!! Thanks for this ❤

THANK YOU
It makes me so happy to see so many people replaying Heartgold/Soulsilver in recent years, it is my favorite Pokemon games!
I’m 26 years old, 30 hours in my first ever play through of SS. Best game I’ve played in a very long time
the game sucks i just want to beat it to get it over with and say i've done johto
Heartgold and Soulsilver are still the best and goated pokemon game
I got SS for my 8th birthday and never really got into Pokemon games but kept up with the news and media. XY was one of my fave shows and with the recent trailer, I picked up SS again and my goodness I have fallen in love. Found an authentic Poke White for $40 which i'll be playing after! Such fun games, wish I woulda played them sooner.
You talk about these like they are red and blue. But i get it, everyone started somewhere. Im just old.
Now I can actually face red without wasting my life away farming levels
Good luck!
@@ThedomiNATION thanks
or just use x items
Well I defeated Red with only two 70 level and three 65 level pokemons.
I’ve played Pokémon since I was 5 years old. I’m 26 now... lol Im coming back to play heart gold right now.
From my experience, you don’t need anything to roll over. Just set it to the right date and time, and you can fight them as many times as you want until their time window ends.
No way you can re-batttle them back to back
@@shellshock10 just go back like in the video but you don't need to exit the game and set the time back. Just call the trainer again and he will be fighting you again.
You should just be able to walk to another route an call the trainers back. You shouldn't need to change the clock again. So long as it's in the time range they normally accept rematch challenges.
Do I have HGSS? No.
Am I still watching and supporting the channel anyway? Yes.
Thank you grinding for Red was painful. The problems gym leader schedules and the actual strength of the elite four and unskippable credits make this the far superior grinding method
U can skip the credits after u beat the champion as soon as your game saves just SR
Insane
Doing that as I’m reading I put a penny in my circle pad
gonna try this for my smeargles. thank you!
Not gonna work if the game crashes 😭
I like how Gen 5 had Shaking Bush encounters which had guaranteed encounters for Audino making it easier.
omg im in the EXACT situation as you. smh i nevr realized how hard it was to level up in soul silver
I farmed chansey in HG and as I was done catching, not only did I get 2 eggs during an outbreak, but also a shiny nidorino in the grass. Very nice. At lv 84 with my dragonite.
Nice!
im currently upgrading, do you have a move set i could use, preferably physically
Hey just wanted to give my insight. What I've found is that you can immediately re-call a gym leader during their rematch window and battle them repeatedly. That's level 50+ 5 deep teams at your disposal to farm for not only that, but the money with ammy coin...it's nuts
changing time just to call each of them when they’re available is kind of a pain imo but it still is a good way
I tested a few other variations of this out and all you really have to do is battle Brent, go back into the little passage thing instance, and then just call him again and that works, it’s a lot faster and I wouldn’t have found this out without the original video
That’s so good to know! Thank you!
Brooo u just made something fast even faster! Thank you to the both of you!
About 3:35, I don't think the farming levels on Brent doesn't really require restarting the DS over and over to roll the time to 4am. Just like farming money from Alfred, you can re-battle Brent just by using the same method.
Farming money from Alfred?
After you beat both regions, you have a change to find each of the gym leaders somewhere in the map (check serebii for exact location and times) once you get their phone numbers, if you call at a certain time of the day they want to rematch you with lvl 55+ pokemon. I find this easier because i can choose which gym type i want to fight to level up a certain pokemon type advantage. And you can keep rematching as long as your in the right time window
You should probably pin this comment
When can you re battle gym leaders and is it only for Kanto gym leaders?
@@Sailor-Khione
You can rematch all gym leaders, Johto and Kanto, by finding the gym leaders (they'll be outside of their gym at a given time of the week - look on Serebii or Bulbapedia for the exact locations and dates), talking to them so you get their number and then calling them on a specific time (they'll tell you what time that is). Then they'll be in the Fighting Dojo in Saffron City.
Same question, is it just for kanto?
I would recommend that if you’re trying to level up level 80 or higher Pokémon only just because of the difficulty in it but that is a good option
How do you make the ds acept the day change?
@@yasmimfatme you take the game out..change the date and time in the settings..then put the game back in
Thank you bro! Now i can rematch the elite four and face red with my team in level 70! 😁
Good luck!
This is freaky! I was watching this while playing HG, and Brent just called me!
He’s listening 👀
Thank you I like this more than challenging the gym leaders over and over again
you can actually just go a little ways further down route 26 and there's a little house with a girl that will heal your pokemon, and faster than a pokemon center
Thanks a bunch for this! It’s a lot more fun and easy to level up like this then using that boring daycare method that might overlevel your pokemon by accident 😂
Love that you’re making videos for hgss so recently lol
So, I was like, 11 or 12 when I got HG, and by mistake, I freed my Togepi.
My Togepi was holding my exp share...
I was too young to think straight and decided I'd rather never have access to the EXP share (and the Togepi line) ever again instead of losing a few hours of progress...
Still suffering from this L to this day.
Oh no that’s terrible! Maybe you could restart your save file and start fresh knowing to not do that this time around!
Great video! Thanks for this! Cant wait to try it out once ive levelled up and cleared the areas
Thanks man now I can finish the game
all you need to do is set your date to monday at 4 am and when u get on the game there is no need to change the time again all you need to do is battle him and after that you call him again and repeat the process

I've played this game since 2010 and I never knew that you could call trainers to battle them!
Brent gotta be the most reliable guy
Brent is built different
Great vid and great work but changing times and dates after every battle for rebattles seems way more tedious than just buying a few revives, hyper potions, and full heals. The lucky egg tip is very nice tho. I might be doing that soon since my party is in the 77-80 range and leveling up takes forever
For farming money do gentleman alfred, he only has 1 noctowl and with amulet coin he gives you something close to 15000
Remember you dont have to reset the time and date every battle. just do it once and keep rebattling
How do I make it so pokemaniac Pokémon are higher levels? Just set the date farther ahead?….. will I have a problem going back to regular date if I want to
@@jakestrong8939 The levels of the rematches get heigher for every achievement,

So the farther through the game you progress, the higher levels the rematching trainers become.
First, set your time to monday, 3:59.
load up your game and exit and enter the bycicle pass through,
Call him and rematch. then just re exit and enter the bycicle path and call him again and he will battle, with no need at all to reset the clock on your ds.

U don’t need to catch chansey all u need is to use thief
Sooo this is only really that good if u have a traded pokemon and a lucky egg...........
Right lol. Lots of people don't have a second system to trade themselves or even have another gen 4 game to trade between. But great if you do of course.
Im watching this in 2024 cause i have a copy of SS and HG from a trade show. After MANY MANY YEARS, I’ve finally beat RED!😭
This js so easy and definitely the BEST way to lvl up. Had Alakazam,Typhlosion,Snorlax
,Gliscor,Dragonite and Vaporeon
Best team hand down!
No, You don't need to go to make change time or day or restart your HG/SS in your 3DS. The all trainers can re-battle to you for a few hours on its scheduled. it's endless week.
There is a pinned comment for a reason…
@@ThedomiNATION suggest you, you use lucky egg hold your Pokémon at first party, it would to level up fast than normal. There’s a better way put Pokémon in the day care after that every step you take is 1 xp point then go to ekruteak gym and enter then hold forward you’ll rune off the edge and spawn back at the start then just repeat

i know the moves get messed up on pokemon, but putting 2 pokemon in the daycare and then walking up in the 4th gym infinitely can get level 100 overnight

It’s 9:01 am here and Brent’s still down to battle.
I wish the game let me give him a ‘rare’ Pokémon and then I get some sweet item
I think the trainer Pokémon levels is based on game progress and not how many times you fought them. Like you won’t see the third battle until after the E4
thank you for the info now i can use this info to help me on my playthrough on my channel ill be shouting u out
How does the level scaling work? You have Best the elite four for them to get stronger?
All Pokémon games where you can rebattle trainers, the level scaling is based on how far through the game you have played. I have gotten all 16 gym badges and beat red at Mount silver so that’s probably why the levels are higher for me
So I can actually throw in my two cents as well like the pinned comment.
Yes rematching trainers are good, but resetting the clock everytime gets tedious and its not even that much exp, what I recommend is rematching the gym leaders, yes its tedious getting the numbers but its way better than the trainers and here is a list of reasons why:
1. You can just rematch them, defeat them, stand outside the dojo and repeat the process until their preferred time of day cycle ends (Ex. You can rematch Janine from the start of the Daytime-start of noon, which is about a couple hours and if one battle is 4 minutes, that would be 15 battles an hour x a couple hours, calculating the exp and the amount of time you can spend, its a WAY better method)
They put a cap on how strong rematches are so if you’re trying to level grind with say level 30 Pokémon, you don’t get stomped by a trainer with level 60 Pokémon just Becuase you battled them 4 times
yesssss thank you so much for this 🙏🏼🙏🏼
No problem! Glad I could help!
Please I need help! I have a problem ): I did all the things I had to do, but when I rematch Brent, He battles me with Gyarados level 41, Lickitung level 38, Nidorina level 38 and Nidorino level 38, I did rematch him like 7/8 times, but it keeps showing up those pokemon, on serebii it says that the fourth battle has Gyarados level 48, Lickitung level 40, Nidoqueen level 58 and Nidoking level 58, but why can't I battle him with these pokemon? ):
edit: now it works, in order to spawn those pokemon to the max level you have to:
1. beat the Elite 4
2. have the National Dex!
3. earn all the badges of both regions!
thank you for you help!
Now I dont have to use the daycare method to beat red thank you so much
I love you teaching method
for brent i only rolled it over from 3:59 am to 4 am once entered the building called him again and he let me rebattle

Pokemon fans in a nutshell hehe
(I miss the old school ways..)
Alright After beating the elite 4, First I'll going to find a Chansey With the Lucky Egg Luckly In HeartGold & Soulsilver Is Almost Easy to het the Lucky Egg,
Good luck!
I have battled Brent a couple of times but his Pokemon level are always as per the second battle levels, I'm playing on Drastic Emulator and clock setting seems to work in a similar way. Is there something I'm missing?
You might need to play through the game a little more. I have beaten Red in my game
i’m not sure but, i didn’t need to change the time to 3:59, i was able to just change the time to 7:37 (my time) and monday and it worked, not sure if it’s because i’m using a Nintendo DS rather than a 3DS
Is there a quicker way to grind that doesn't involve constant date changing and phone calls?
According to the comments you don’t have to keep changing the date you can just keep rematching them in the specific time frame!
I'm just rebattling the bosses in Saffron city's gym.
1) Find a boss that plays with types weak to the pokemon you're lvling up
2) Set your in game time to the time you can call each one (I am doing Morty so I've set it on Tuesday night)
3) Every time you beat them, go out, call them instantly, go inside and battle them again.
You only get about 10 k a little bit more with lucky egg without that traded Pokémon bonus tho
ur a king for dis

I dont know what i am doing wrong. Brent have the same level of his pokemons, also I traded from Platinum a Darkrai (from event) and is holding lucky egg. When i defeat gyarados lvl 48 only get around 2k of exp.
Make sure none of your Pokémon are holding an exp share. That will split the exp amongst whoever’s battling and whoever’s holding the exp share resulting in each Pokémon receiving half exp!
Best grind method.
Is this something that can be used before the Elite 4 and before the Rocket radio tower incident?
This method can be used before either of those but the Pokémon won’t greatly increase in level upon rematches until you play through more of the game
@@ThedomiNATION it’s not working for me it’s says good morning do you wanna hear about then it says sorry I haven’t got the time
Hey so ive battled Brent over ten times now and his pokemon's levels havent changed from 32. Is thre anything im missing here?
You need to play through more of the story!
Same here.. do I need to beat the elite 4??
Finally I can stop killing my pokemon on victory road
It's 2024 and I'm playing this game for the first time. Thank you
Im a new player. I play on phone with DS emulator. do i have to change time on my phone or in the emulator itself?
Do people not just rematch the gym leaders a bunch of times? The levels are equal to this
You can also rebattle the gym leaders 😉
Just wanted to share an idea to help you or others with Soul Silver or Heart Gold specifically since I am working on completing the Gen4 national livingdex.
i did exactly what you did and it doesnt work. he just says he doesnt have time to talk
Now how would we do this if we are playing on a phone and can't really change the time
Just go do the gym leader rematch battle, better, n after battle, go out the fighting dojo, call n repeat...
gym leaders are better fr i dont know why he says this better
Do I need to complete the game before I can do any of these?
No but you need to complete the game if you want them to have max level rematches like I have
Classic strategy!
Brents pokemon still haven't levelled up for me, I've battled him nearly five times now
You need to play through more of the story!
