- Best Team for Heartgold and Soulsilver Remastered. I am treating you guys all too well with these best teams. I did 2 last week and I am already doing another one already AND we are back in Johto. In my honest opinion, I actually think that the original best team for Heargold and Soulsilver best team was worst than the original best team for Johto. There were a lot of errors in that team. The original Johto team GSC at least was correct when it came to some facts. The team was just bad. The heartgold and soul silver team was just a mess and the biggest mistake I made was having Togekiss on the team which was in fact a big error. You can’t get Togekiss until the postgame. That’s where the shiny stone is. I also made an error with our starter pokemon which I will be getting into momentarily. Not to mention a lot of you told me that the video was lazily made and yeah I got to say it was. That video was super lazy and I apologize for it. Let’s make up for it now though. I give you the best team for heartgold and soulsilver remastered.

this is prob super helpful for new players but i do have one note: if you use discharge on ampy (or anyone) replace thunder wave with power gem/coverage move. the reason being that discharge has a high paralyze rate, meaning you wont need to use thunder wave as much especially for casual play. on the plus side if you enjoy thunder wave, upgrade to thunderbolt over discharge for the higher base damage.
edit: also for espeon you could try swift instead of psybeam. while it wont get STAB it does scale off special as well as never miss damage for those fights where annoying evasion stacking happens. id also suggest rain dance on lapras over perish song for boosted surf and thunder accuracy, specifically since you arent using sunny day on typlosion.

@@LittleAl016 True but tbf it's for a cpu playthru, so makes little difference ultimately. But I get what you mean for sure
I mean it's not like he did something toxic or awful...it's just Pokemon lol Hard to get mad or *anything* at 'mistakes' when it has to do with a team for a video game lol But I see what you're saying; it is def nice that he wants to make the best content he can provide even when it means redoing a vid~
@@g1ng3rsn4ps The "Edit" button exists.
And besides, the fact that it is for a CPU playthrough is why I say what I say.
Given the type of move Solarbeam is, there's a legitimate risk in Typhlosion being KO'd by the types of Pokémon Solarbeam is effective against, all of which in turn have moves effective against Typhlosion.
It's not the only mistake. Even if he is trying to make the best content he has, a little stronger quality control wouldn't hurt. That being said, it is better than the last list for HG/SS that he put out.

so glad he admitted that the OG HeartGold and SoulSilver was lazily made. how do you not finish a move set or even try to
I remember asking him on stream about it, and he said it would take a while, and come out in March or even April of 2018. It then came out in January.
I'll always come back to these "best teams" videos when I want to replay a game since they are really well balanced and fun. Johot is one of my favorite regions, and starting typhlosion, every run has never felt oh so satisfying, and now being a best team choice 👌. Late game I usually ran flare blitz, focus blast, shadow claw and lava plume as the move set. Man was a 1v3000 machine
I uses Cyndaquil as starter, then Heracross, Ampharos, and Dragonite for the rest of the game. The rest are HM fillers such as Lapras and Raikou, i only use Legendaries as HM fillers.
@@sepg5084 I'd love to use a Dragonite one of these days but you get it SOO late in the game. I'm not about to waste my time training up a level 15 when I'm about to fight the elite four. I seriously think that a Slowbro or the red Gyarados will be a better option. Lapras only has a high HP stat , its Sp.Atk is just 85 while slowbro's is a solid 100 which means a powerful Psychic attack even though it has no Ice STAB. Gyarados makes his own case though with his Ice Fang and massive 125 attack.
Don't forget dragon dance, gyarados is much better than Lapras.

Did you forget lapras has stab?
Matthew Gammell so does feraligatr.
Also surf and water gun are the only special moves feraligatr learns leveling up in HGSS.
@# AYUSH BANIK
1: that wasn’t my point, it was that feraligatr wasn’t “drained with attacks that use its lower attacking stat”
2: feraligatr gets swords dance & can set up easily on Clair and Lance’s Gyarados
I think he was talking in the sense of ice type attacks. What I mean is since Lapras is a water/ice type and Feraligatr is only a water type, Lapras gets that stab element to ice attacks. Also the more powerful ice moves that are used most commonly, like ice beam and blizzard, are special type attakcs, and Lapras has a higher SpA than Feraligatr
this is one of those cases in which having one type is actually a good thing, all you need to do is have a typhlosion w/ solar beam and then your good, but also get sunny day, just so that you attack the first, not second, turn.
If you use Sunny day first then technically you are still using Solar beam on your second turn.

When he shows haracoss's moves, he said brick brick
Something that needs to be said about Typhlosion in HGSS is the fact that as a Quilava, it can get Fire Blast before the third gym (!!!), by purchasing the TM at the Goldenrod Department Store. A 120BP+STAB early-game nuke (that also has fairly good accuracy at 85%) like that cannot be underestimated in any HGSS playthrough. Given Fire Blast's low PP, you will still need Ember or Flame Wheel on your moveset as your general-use STAB attack until you get Lava Plume, but Fire Blast can be used when you really need that KO.
And it also gets flamethrower if you want to do the game corner
Game corner is easy af to exploit too, since there's no repercussions for actually trying to do game corner. It's especially easy to abuse on emulators with save states, but it's possible to get unlimited amount of coins on an actual machine as well.
@@smaragdchaos or u can just use max coin cheat if u want even easier way
Wait what!
@@Kepin151 You can say that about anything. The thing is tho, in the older games, cheating the system wasn't easy because it was pure gambling and buying money manually was expensive, so it was really time consuming doing it that way. HG/SS has no option for purchasing coins, but doing the casino has absolutely zero repercussions, so you can do it endlessly and really rack up that cash without having anything to lose. HG/SS casinos are a joke.

Brunerboy I know this is a joke, but 4/6 of that team is weak to electric 😂
Ya but 5/6 of the team is weak to rock 😆
SwagGamers _ oh shit that slipped my mind
@@SwagPlaysKYT2 of them are 4x weak to it at that XD
Ya team can be taken out with low levels but i do think its pretty cool to have them all in ya party
One problem with Typhlosion
Coverage atacks with 2 turns.
You still have spend a turn using sunny day tho
In Battlel with Red, is suicide because her Mons are so strong and can do HK in he.
@@Beta0999 HER??
@@Kepin151 the newer gens wanted to be more inclusive
And My Quilava can't learn Focus Blast. I'm a tripping or sum?
You're forgetting the MANDATORY SHINY level THIRTY Gyarados at the lake of rage who's physical attack shreds everything and when It gets Aqua tail you will turn what's left of your opponents into molecular bits.
Why bother with Aqua Tail? You're better off using Waterfall. It's slightly weaker but it has 100% accuracy and a chance to Flinch
@@ChampionElCid You get aqua tail by level up, and you're only 5 levels away from it. You don't get waterfall until ice path.
Would love it if you could also post the best natures for each ‘mon given the team.
Now I know why I lost to lance 20 times the first time i played this
Old Ambers lol me too
Im not because i spam dragon dance with my gyarados
I just use my lvl 50 feraligatr ice beam
My feraligatr got taught Avalanche so it could take out a bunch of Lance's dragons.
@@Zeuseus6609 thats cool
For real my team was mostly Ho-oh, Lapras, Alakazam, Heracross, Steelix and Ampharos and I can't say how many times I was saved by Ampharos. Ampharos was unexpectedly the true hero my whole playthrough, what a lad.
not that your going to change the list now but dont forget about Charge beam that you can get in olivine. It may not be the perfect 100% accuracy but personally I find the value of the effects superior. But this team is beastly and thanks for the video.
Dude... Very good! No traded evos, no copy exclusives, all pokemon are gen 1-2👍👍👍
But as ever there's always something to be missed. Where do I start? Abilities, natures, held items, tag team battles, fun substitutes, Stab move emphasis (briefly covered👍) HM holders and especially respectable shout outs: Red Gyarados, Lugia or Ho oh (why because you'll get either regardless and they're both flying types so off fearow), Dragonite(again, off fearow:)), Rhydon, hitmonchan (bred iron fists, impish nature, Drain punch, fire punch, thunder punch, ice punch) Umbreon, Ursaring (HMs).......... Late game: Garchomp, Salamence, !!TYRANITAR!! even Metagross (They're late game... But they're game.)
Solos or doubles I know my team stands the test, here's why:
Typhlosion, lv 50, kings rock
Focus punch (focus blast)
Flamethrower (lava plume for doubles)
Rollout (solar beam)
Earthquake (hits all) (dig for doubles (avoid damage, even own team like surf)
(Red) Gyarados, lv 54, NeverMeltIce
Waterfall
Dragon dance
Ice fang (Outrage)
Avalanche (Bounce)
Lugia, lv50, light clay
Punishment
Fly
Extrasensory
Safeguard
Rhydon, lv52, lightning rod, quick claw
Hammer arm
Rock slide (stone edge)
Rock polish (sandstorm -50% special damage received, effects hail in doubles...)
Earthquake
(Truly the backbone to my team and for great reason, to avoid all electric damage so far as she survives. Whether by swapping out or being present in doubles with lightning rod, very sleeped on pokemon (don't earthquake TM!! lol)
Ampheros, lv48, leftovers
Thunder wave
Signal beam (Reflect, if possible??)
Charge beam
Charge
Lapras, lv 47, shell armour, shell bell
Surf
Hail
Thunderbolt (shock wave)
Blizzard
Subs:
Ursaring for HMs, lv 33, guts
Strength
Cut. (All stab too so usable )
Rock smash
Dig (rock climb)
Hitmonchan as affirmentioned...
Snorlax lv50
Umbreon lv40
Beedrill lv30
Haunter lv47
It's difficult to type all details, such as the team progression from say where they were at capture to now, their exact move upgrades and the teams progression...
By four gym badges I had Onix, Beedrill (heracross though👍👍👍), quillava, haunter, Gyarados, flaafy (togetic for fly)
By gym 8 hadn't yet caught Rhyhorn or lugia...
Let me know what you thing, bro😁
Aerial Ace
Accuracy: Infinite
As much as I love Heracross, I don't think that he's really that good pick in the 2nd Gen Pokemon games tbh. Sure, he's very strong, but he learns Megahorn at the level 55(!!!) which is almost near the end of the game (and I'm talking about the Kanto region here), making his bug type in fact pretty useless for the entire campaign. Another problem I have with Heracross is that while his fighting type comes in handy, and boosts his fighting type moves, it also leaves him more vulnerable to psychic attacks, so it's in fact a double edged sword. In my opinion, Pinsir is much better choice than Heracross, and it's in fact probably the best bug type to pick in the HG/SS games. First of all, you can catch him very early in the game, right before the 3rd gym in the Bug Catching Contest. Second of all, he will prove to be a valuable addition to your team, just right after catching him. Pinsir is a pure bug type, but he learns a lot of good fighting type moves early on such as Revenge at level 18, Brick Break at level 21 and Vital Throw at level 25, making Whitney's gym a cakewalk, and leaving her Miltank helpless (be aware of Rollout though). He also learns a powerful bug type move X-Scissor at level 30, which is not that late to be honest. Later on, he naturally learns Swords Dance at level 38, which makes him an extremely effective and terrifying physical sweeper. On top of that, add a very high attack and defense stat, great speed, two nice abilities in form of Hyper Cutter and Mold Breaker, and a great TM compatibility (Stone Edge and Earthquake can help him counter the Flying and Fire types respectively) and you will have one of the best Pokemon to pick to your team in the game. Seriously, I can't believe how underrated and overlooked this thing is. When you're looking for a good bug type to add to your team pick Pinsir. I can assure you that you won't be disappointed :)
Another good and overlooked pick is Steelix. You can catch him just right after beating the 6th gym, in the Cliff Cave, on the road to Safari Zone, right behind the Cianwood City. His encounter rate is actually very low (2%), but you can easily solve that, by using repels, and putting a 23 level Pokemon in front of your party. Just prepare a lot of ultra balls because this thing is a pain to catch. Heavy balls will be an invaluable help, making the catch much easier. Steelix is a FANTASTIC physical wall thanks to his insane defense, which makes him a perfect tank and a great addition to your team, if you need one. His attack stat is also quite decent, so he can also hit the other things hard. Steelix is especially a fantastic counter against the dragons, thanks to his steel type. If you have some heart scales to spare, you can also teach Steelix all of the elemental fangs in one of the houses in the Blackthorn City. In other words, Steelix may be also a great choice for your team as well.
Heracross can be caught after the 2nd gym
@@mattycraig2938 Yes, that's true. But the main problem with Heracross is that he learns a bug type move at the level 55, which is basically near the end of the Kanto story (unless you don't mind grinding a lot), making his bug-type useless for almost the entire game. Still a very powerful Pokemon though. Personally, I like Heracross more than Pinsir, but in my opinion Pinsir is a better choice for the main story.
Wizard of Doom I grinded so much in sliver that I evolved pupitar into tyranitar and ran into a shiny ursaring
I taught my Aerodactyl three elemental attacks and it wasn't as useful as it sounds.
Dude I grinded him so much I thought he learned his last move on level 52 but no I was so mad but proceeded to grind
I was an avid Red/Yellow player when they came out. I owned Silver but never really had the same love for it. After recently playing Fire Red I've been thrust back into the World of Pokémon and I'm loving it! I downloaded an emulator and I'm playing Soulsilver on my phone. I've just defeated Elite 4 in Johto and I'm headed over to Kanto on the ferry... Came here looking for team ideas :)
At the moment I have Typhlosion, Ampharos, Slowbro and Lugia as my team. I also have Gyardos (the red one from the lake) and Skarmory, as between them they know Cut, Fly, Strength, Whirlpool, Waterfall and Rock Smash if I need it. I want to swap these two out though to have a team of 6, then swap them in whenever I need the HMs.
Also Slowbro with Quick Claw is a beast.
An other major advantage to using the fire starter: no other fire pokémon is available until fairly late in the game; Bellsprout and Wooper are both available near Violet City.
I just recently watched a few of these videos and I'm not gonna lie the disclaimer thing at the beginning was the reason I subscribed. You're a genuinely good youtuber man.
I used Feraligatr, Noctowl, Mamoswine, Tangrowth, Espeon, and Dragonite. I feel like people overlook new evolutions to pokemon and I feel like mamoswine and tangrowth are extremely good
What moveset do you use for tangrowth?
Been trying for two years to get shiny cyndaquil starter, finally got it last night🙏🏽 W
I used this exact same team and completing the game was a breeze!
how long did it take you? currently 36 hours in
Yeah honestly I wish more UA-camrs did stuff like this and actually admit their mistakes (unlike Verlisify who instead just blames other people)
Gotta do that finally: thx for doing these videos, i enjoy them a ton.... I hope you keep up the good work
Typhlosion
Dragonite
Umbreon / Espeon
Heracross
Ampharos
Lapras ( bias but I prefer it’s TMs, ice coverage, and just the Pokémon )
You can get all of these with some effort basically at goldenrod city meaning all very early on. Their move sets can be wildly varied and most could single the elite four on their own.
This is good research for my play trough
I dunno why, but when I watch one of these videos I feel like my team is awful
Look in the bright side, at least your team doesn't have solarbeam
17 seventeen I’m sure It isn’t bad depends what you have on it.
Honestly, the only opponent who is really hard without having the right pokemon is Lance imo.
My starter feraligatr is my hm slave
Same
And what about the worst team huh?? Why is it always the best one. >:(
I know right ?
not a bad idea actaully
One sentret
Look at channel green typhlosion he is doing worst teams
6 Wobufett with life orb
My team was the same as this but I replaced Espeon with Dragonite and it worked so well especially since I gave psychic to my Lapras with modest nature so my entire team shredded through everything even Red's team
damn before even watching this i had 4 of the same pokemon: typhlosion, heracross, ampharos and espeon
*_sees Whitney_*
So _this_ is what PTSD feels like?
This is crazy i just watched your older vid on this because i started SS today!! And now you've uploaded this 🤣

if only i could send you an online cookie to feed for your good deed
This is an interesting team, but there is a flaw. In order to reach Red you have to use Waterfall, Strength and Rock Climb
Get a hm slave
You only need Rock Climb.
@@rjante2236 Ok, my mistake, but still you need a pokemon to learn that move so we need to change the moveset
@@wartermelon If we use an hm slave then i don't think we can talk about the beast possible team, but for the "5 best pokemon and the Furret (or whterver you will use as a slave)"
No, the six best Pokemon and the turret you occasionally fetch from your pc
I was thinking about sunny day and then you said “TOO BAD” lol
If u want to save a team member, use Noctowol, he can learn flying and physic type moves so u will have an open spot on ur team for anyone. I’m deciding between dratini from goldenrod or umbreon
Great vid, I don't like how earthquake tm is in Kanto for the johto team because I can't get it to use throughout the Game
Playing this game right now,I need this thanks mystic🤩
Jahmere Berry me as well
