Fun fact about the pokewalker, when HG/SS came out, the pokewalker ended up drawing the attention of many sport science facilities because for some unknown reason, it was RIDICULOUSLY good. For a toy made to be sold as an add-on to a Pokemon game, the pokewalker ended up being the most accurate pedometer at the time when tested against several other available pedometers. Amazing.

I remember this news! I used to see it on the corners of covers of sports (and oddly enough, women's health?) magazines whenever I went to the store with my parents. I always thought it was cool that something Pokemon related (as I was a huge pokemon nerd at the time) was seeing unironic, legitimate use, and being taken pretty seriously. Even if it was for something as mundane as an accurate pedometer

The mindset of the developers had when making HG/SS is something I wish current devs had for this and future pokemon generations. The amount of effort and content they add in a pokemon game is what makes it enjoyable and a memorable experience.

I can't even fault the devs because a lot of problems in the newer games look like they're cause by time constraints.
Their budgets aren't low, and the people who cared about HGSS are still there, but all the problems in the past few Pokemon games look like they just didn't have time.
Pokemon games started to sink in quality the same time we were getting a main-series game every year.
Legends Arceus didn't even have time to breathe with Scarlet and Violet being announced a month later.
Meanwhile the gap from XY's release to ORAS's announcement was 6 months.

Simply use fly to fly to the nearest town to the route, and try and find them. If after you don't get an encounter with them after 3 or 4 encounters, check the Pokegear's map to see if they've moved. If they have, simply fly nearby and repeat.
Just make sure not to use poison, as it can KO them, and they don't regen health between encounters, and they can't lose their status effects, which makes false swipe, and sleep/paralysis extremely useful against them.

Video games are an interactive medium, that is entirely subjective because everyone interacting has a difference experience than the next person. In drawings, sculptures, music, books, video games and anything else, that has room for interactivity and/or personal interpretation, there cannot be any objectivity by definition. Only subjectivity. The music I make is different from the music you make. The movies I watch are different from the movies you watch. The Pokemon game you like best is different from the one I like best. This can only ever be subjective.
The mere fact, that you are responding to a person saying, that they liked a different game more should have clued you in on this simple fact. But no, you could not accept the fact, that people are different and individualistic and humanities' tastes are varied. You just HAD to bring forth your "iT's ObJeCtIvElY bEtTeR" take.
I sincerely hope you learn how human beings work and how the world around you functions and that "not everyone has to agree with me but the awesome thing is, I don't have to agree with everyone either". The world can be so awesome and life so chill, if you just accept, that some things just are and that people are allowed to just be people and are allowed different opinions and are even allowed to change opinions.
Peace out, brother. Don't forget to love each other. Have a subjectively awesome day.

because of the "time travel" trade mechanic, its possible to easily get a shiny ditto from the gen 1 games.
1 Catch the Lake of Rage Shiny Gyrados and replace all of its moves with non-damaging Gen 1 moves.
2 Trade shiny Gyrados to R/B
3 Use the Gyrados as your lead and go encounter a ditto on route to the east of Koga's Gym
4 Let the Ditto transform into the gyrados from the future and then catch it.
    5 Trade Ditto to G/S/C.
Now you should have a shiny ditto.
From what I understand of this process, the Gen 1 Ditto copies the DVs of the Gyrados from G/S/C when it transforms, with the DVs being the factor that determines whether a pokemon is shiny or not. I think the DV value is the same for all pokemon for being shiny. So when you catch the Ditto, it will have the same DV value as the Gyrados and when you trade it to the future, It should be shiny. Assuming you did this on the 3DS Virtual Console editions of the games, you should then be able to send that shiny Ditto basically anywhere else you want.

    • @chapolinm_
      @chapolinm_ Рік тому +26

Also, on GS if you bred a Pokémon with a Shiny Ditto, the egg would have a 1/64 chance of being shiny. I had a more than half of breedable shinies on my Gold/Silver versions. I still have the games, but sadly the batteries died and I lost my Pokémon, my Yellow and Blue version still work on their original batteries. Still play them on Stadium. Jesus fuck I feel old HUASHUSAUHSAHUSA

    • @Lucifronz
      @Lucifronz Рік тому

Yeah, that's how I got a shiny to migrate from Pokemon Yellow. Since you can't breed in the game and shiny hunting in it is borderline impossible, I wanted to be able to migrate *something* unique from the game and I usually migrate shinies from my playthroughs.
Finding out I could get a shiny Ditto with my Yellow trainer's OT was something I jumped on immediately. You can even send the shiny Pokemon to Bank from Gen 1 and it will still turn out shiny since they updated it to properly check the formula of DV-shininess. It'll say it's from Kanto when you put in the 3DS Gen 7 games and have the OT of whichever trainer caught it independently of that fact (Gen 1 or 2).

You could capture Pokémon using the PokéWalker. I think some locations were unlocked via Mistery Gift or events, and some of them were available outside Japan. I remember having unlocked a location where only wild Pikachu would appear (Yellow Forest or something like that?), and you could catch some cool Pokémon depending on the location. After a certain number of steps, rarer Pokémon would appear, and in this forest you could find Pikachu that could use Fly or Surf. I remember going through my game with a surfing Pikachu, that later turned into a surfing Raichu. Good memories. :)

I remember all the good times I had with my Pokewalker as a kid. I’d spend hours and hours walking to progress with it, though that may have been why I eventually lost it. I don’t remember how it had happened, but not only did I lose the Pokewalker, I lost my dearest Pokemon, the first Pokemon caught in my copy of Soulsilver, who I put in the Pokewalker shortly before it seemingly “vanished”. I still remember that Fearow of mine to this day, and I know that I can never get him back, but I can only wonder and imagine what adventures Fearow had without me the day we unfortunately parted.
The Pokewalker was a true treasure, it brought me closer to my Pokemon more than I thought it would. I’m still hurt from losing it, but I suppose it’s the one device that can never be replaced. Nor have I found it in myself willing to replace Fearow, because even if my Pokemon didn’t exist in real life, to me that Fearow was my most trusted companion.

The screw came undone while I was running after my dog through some long grass, leaving me with the just back panel of it clipped to my waist. I am absolutely in love with this video! Its like you took all the words out my mouth when I think about these games! This was the first mainline pokemon game I was invested in. Sure I played Pearl when i was like 6 but I didnt know how to really read I used a masterball ona cleffa for christs sake (but also used a pokeball on Palkia first turn and caught it xD subtle flex). But HGSS was where it was at. I was a kid so i didnt really know about GSC or RB that much. Or even RSE. But HeartGold was what I played and it will forever mean everything to me. I had a hard childhood so I dont actually remember playing, though I know I did, mostly in the safari zone trying to grind. This last few weeks I found my old game thats 15 years old and I successfully transferred all my meaningful pokemon to my switch (long ass process) but so worth it! Was so funny seeing the old names I gave my pokemon but it made me so happy. That night when I looked in my save file I felt like I gained a part of myself I had lost forever.
Watching the video I think you put everything perfectly! And had some pretty relatable opinions! I actually had some event mons in my game I thought I cheated in with an action replay-- but no they were actually part of the game lol! I booted up my game like... how did i get a kyogre? how did i get a latias? how do i have all these hoenn pokemon? but when you went over all the events and how many pokemon you can get from this game it all slowly game together and it made me happy.
Currently! I am replaying heartgold on my homebrewed 3ds (i am going to display my cartridge in a special case when i move this summer so i can gaze upon it and feel happy and in touch with myself). This video made me 10000000x excited to replay! Thanks for the video it was super awesome!

FRLG and HGSS gave people hope that eventual future remakes for other games would be absolute masterpieces. While ORAS wasn’t horrible, the fact they didn’t include the battle frontier was a huge red flag that they were going to start cutting corners for remakes. Then BDSP came out. It’s safe to say I have no idea why people would even want a Black and White remake at this point because it’s pretty clear that quality is not a priority anymore and it’s all about meeting deadlines. In my opinion, the only good remakes were HG/SS. I started on gen 1, so the Kanto remakes are such half-assed TRASH to me! They're boring, the gen 3 TMs suck, they ruined many of the wild Pokemon locations (you can't get Nidorans or Mankeys until much later now), and there's no Missingno glitch to add fun to them unlike gen 1. Besides the Sevii Islands, the gen 1 remakes are such garbage, in my opinion. Not to mention, there literally never was a Green version outside of Japan, so how TF are you going to release a "LeafGreen" version to North America and everywhere else?
OR/AS also sucked because they just made it a copy of Kalos and I hated Kalos and Mega Evolutions, but as most said, it's due to the lack of the Battle Frontier. How you gonna remake the region that introduced the Battle Frontier and leave it out of the remake? There's literally no reason to play OR/AS or BD/SP if you've already played Emerald or Platinum, as those are the definitive versions of gen 3 and 4. BD/SP were such dogsh*t, I don't even acknowledge those as having ever existed; we basically never got a Sinnoh remake.

Although firered was the only pokemon game I stopped playing in the middle because of how boring it felt (came back after a few weeks) I still prefer them over GB versions. And ORAS not having a battle frontier was terrible but I feel like they kind of compensated with some new features. But about BDSP you're right . I was so sicked before launch but they're utterly garbage! Sinnoh never got remakes indeed!

I dont have the patience or time to do all the side content or just immerse myself in games like i used to and this was one of those games you could just play forever.

It’s gen 4? We’ll give them all the improvements of platinum, including the battle frontier!
We’ll include all the extra features of Crystal for both versions!
All the things we took out of Kanto that were in the original Red/Blue? Adding them back!
We will add on an insane amount of new features, content, QoL, and new Pokemon availability!

@@ovite1240 most based thing I’ve read all week, thank you. Tired of hearing people cry that “they don’t care anymore.” You prefer older games, that’s fair. You think they didn’t try at all with newer games and they have no redeeming features because you don’t prefer them, that’s a you thing. Lots of good storytelling, well designed Mons and numerous other things that have been done incredibly well with the modern games too. Same way the older games had their flaws. All Pokémon games have their pros and cons, series has never been perfect but always been a blast overall or we wouldn’t still be engaged.
Then again, this is the Pokemon fandom. Loves to shit on every new Gen, then wax nostalgic for it years later like they always loved it. 😂 Hard to take those kind of people seriously.

I find it funny how the frlg sevii island story is the direct cause for team rockets actions in johto...
And the fact that the "link connetion" set up on the sevii story connects kanto and hoenn.
Even more fitting that, in the gen 2 remakes, it is in the middle, johto, where u can catch the hoenn legendaries AND have a tie in to Sinnoh too...
Normaly u only know that these games are in the same universe, but in the remakes u really feel how connected this world really is..
