    Aww nice Video Mike, & Val. Shame you weren’t able to ride behind One of them really. Especially King Edward 2nd in Blue. It looked like you had plenty of time in the end as well….. Glad you were able to watch them though. I’ve been on a coach trip to Totness with parents many years ago. It was a boat trip on the River Dart to Dartmouth, it had been raining as well. I was hoping to grab a bag of chips from the chippy on the quay, but When we arrived the coach was already waiting, giving us no time at all to really grab anything to eat. Annoyingly, I wasn’t best pleased, it seemed a day where everything had to be fitted in, & not long anywhere., after that went went off else where, then stopped 4 an evening meal on the way home.

      Thanks for reminding us of that visit. We certainly saw some locos we hadn't seen before. It is annoying however when organised trips do not allow enough time!

    What a refreshing glimpse into the workings at Toddington Station. It seems as if everything there runs at half-pace, as it should be for a pensioner my age! The trains arrived and departed without haste. Even the rain played along with its gentle drizzle. Wow, the meals you had made me salivate. I am a retired South African currently residing in Dubai. Toddington Station is included in my itinerary for my next visit to the UK! Thanks Admiral, for this informative posting.

    I like the way the GWSR has display cards telling us about the locos in use that day. Well done! It would be good for other railways to do that too!

    We do enjoy all of your videos, from Austins, to every event in your local WSR. Family viewing on the smart tele, so not so easy to leave comments. Must be something aboutToddington and coach trips.My experience was of a limited time to look around.Also got so engrossed that I nearly missed out on the next stop.The coach parked up in a different part of the site to where it dropped us off.Panic when I could not find it! You made very good use of your time there as always very entertaining. Go by car next time? Broadway not to be missed.

    Oh man! We just got home (Belgium) after a two week holiday in the Cotswolds. And guess what? We’ve been there! A Route Master picked us up in Broadway, drove us to the station where we took the steamtrain to Toddington. What a great day that was!

      @@ADMIRALSCORNER You certainly had some great captures of so many locomotives. Can only endorse previous comments : if the railway was your prime visit for the day why didn't your Promotor do a little research apropos train time tables and give you time to take a train ride? Many thanks for posting, must have been a trifle disappointing in some ways for all the Party. Kind regards - Henry T.

    The timetables usually allow a longer stop southbound of around 15-20 minutes at Toddington especially on special event days. Hence the ‘lack’ of attention from the staff.....

    • @ADMIRALSCORNER
      @ADMIRALSCORNER  5 років тому

      That situation has its advantages. The WSR seems to be always in a rush to leave the intermediate stations!

    • @stevies.1975
      @stevies.1975 5 років тому

      I think each line has its own unique challenges which makes timetabling a headache. With so many stops, the WSR has tried to evenly space the passing points as much as possible and so, it needs to keep time for the next pass. I haven’t looked at the GWSR’s passing timings since it extended to Broadway, but it seems they have remained broadly consistent as prior to the Broadway extension.

      Thank you. I missed that first time. I've only recently started learning my famous steam locos and not recognising it, was struck by the lack of squared-off fire-box area ahead of the cab. Very different look to the King also featured and most other well known tender engines I have learned to recognise so far. Thanks for the great vid BTW.
