Amy, I love that you have a little bow in your hair; it’s so prissy/girly. I love that you two can laugh at Matt’s efforts in the galley. Laughter is, indeed, the best medicine when bone weary…as is good rest, heh, heh. The ability to laser focus on the good, rather than the bad doesn’t hurt. “LAND HO”!!! How excited you sounded. Amy sounded giddy when she talked with you (even being very tired) after seeing the land. You two are prime examples of how we should behave. We love you for that. Thank you for sharing your lives. Texas
Hiya guys. What more can anyone say apart from WELL DONE👍👍👍 Yet another ocean in the log. 3 down with 2 to go.This is what sailing is all about. Dump those engines and rig the sails and fly. You’ve got a real lady with Florence. Taking care of her really pays dividends. She sails well and looks good. Long may she carry both towards your horizons together. Fair winds and following seas my friends.
Wow. I can not tell you how pleased I am for you guys. Some impressive stats as well. 16 hours motoring and only 32 litres of diesel is a phenomenal achievement. You should both feel super proud. I hope you get some well earned rest and a few beers drank.
Stay tuned for more of "Matt and Amy's Extreme Kitchen Workouts while at Sea! Not for beginners." In all seriousness, congratulations on a schieving such an enormous goal. Your dedication to seamanship, Florence and to each other is amazing! So Proud of you both.
Hi Matt and Amy! Congratulations on your successful crossing of the Indian Ocean. You are a free spirited, adventurous couple, taking risks, going places you haven’t gone and living life on your own terms.👍 We all have one life and one chance to live it. Good to see the two of you exploring the world on your boat and having fun. The memories you are acquiring along the way will be awesome.👍
Watched this after a sleep over on board my Dehler 37 in Carrickfergus Marina, Northern Ireland, with my 10 week old Cockapoo puppy, Bobby. Felt every bit of Matt’s excitement as he came to terms with your 3,000 mile crossing and 23 days at sea. Feel so privileged to share the detail of your experience and just inspired to want to do this myself one day.
I am consistently impressed by the two of you. The ability to remain "on task" in the face of exhaustion is an ability reserved for those who achieve great things in this life. Congratulations!!!!
We all focus on defining moments and 'words of wisdom' that exemplify the markers of lifetime memories, and I took special note of Amy's line about how long passage, two handed sailing is actually as demanding and solitary as two people simply doing single handed. For lesser sailors, one quickly begins feeling that this is not what you signed up for, it is truly grueling. Hats off to the both of you.
Matt and Amy, congratulations on your successful crossing. I can see you're both very proud of it and rightly so. Matt's pasta cooking in rough seas and it's inherent danger of scalds from upset boiling water, which could be horrendous at sea miles from nowhere, reminded me of a similar incident on another sailing Chanel. A USA cooking show host saw it and prepared a video for them. A safe way to cook pasta, no boiling water. They took a large piece of tin foil folded it 2/3 times and made a pouch by rolling over and folding down tightly 2 sides. They then put in the ingredients along with the dry pasta and then the water. They folded the last side tightly and put the pouches in a tray in the oven at 360 for about half an hour. The results looked great. relatively easy and very safe. You never know, you just might fancy pasta in a gale one day and will have no worries with cooking.
Wow! Congratulations on your crossing, such an amazing feat, not many people can say they have accomplished. Hope you guys got some much deserved rest and food!
I've been following your channel for quite some time and your crossing of the Indian Ocean was epic! After 23.5 days at sea you were really elated at making landfall and your video conveys your joy quite clearly. Looking forward to your exploration of the Seychelles and hope you have been getting some well-deserved rest in a calm tropical harbor. So many UA-cam sailing channels are mostly exercises in hedonism , focusing partying in tropical paradise. While there is a time for that, you are such accomplished sailors and with your natural curiosity of the places you have visited you have created a masterful story and adventure for us armchair travelers. Kind regards from Wisconsin, USA.
WOW! What a magnificent achievement! You guys are truly inspirational. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to share in your experience. Can't wait to cast the lines and sail to new horizons. 😁👍
I just love your channel.. It demonstrates very well what real sailing is all about.. Thanks for sharing and I also admire both your positive "can do" approach...
Wow! Great you guys made it safe across the Indian ocean. Must have been a strange feeling to walk the first couple of steps on dry land after 23 days rolling about. Looking forward to your next episode! Now have some fun and relax. ;)
You all are so inspiring! We have lived aboard for the last 5 years, and have done short passages. Watching you sail keeps us hopeful, that we might do more one day! Good work, both of you, and thanks for all that you are sharing with us! Judi and Brent
It was great to kind of "be with you" trough this passage and at arrival. Hope Seychelles is/was a destiny nice enough to make up to the challenge you both brilliantly overcame. Super cheers!
Absolutely amazing…I just love your videos and this one represents the extraordinary achievement you have completed, not “just” in sailing across the Indian Ocean but in getting to that point of being able to in the first place. I am in awe. You guys…incredible! So well done!. And all on a 37 ft boat ….albeit a solid and beautiful one. My only complaint is that your videos are not long enough! I need a feature film! Film producers…take note please.
Jealous jealous jealous! I’m glad you 2 are safe and well. Sailing and the Seychelles are 2 Items that would make a wonderful life even more so. At this time I’ll live and enjoy through your eyes. Thank you for sharing! Cheers!
Having never done a long passage like that I can only imagine how I would feel at the end of it but the video gives a great impression of how you two felt ! Well done guys, I'm so pleased for you ! 👍
Thank you Matt and Amy for sharing your adventures with us. This channel is absolutely by far the superior sailing channel enjoyed by so many. You take us on such a wonderful adventure every episode. I cannot wait for the next video. Again thank you. You are such a lovely couple. Cheers from Australia
Wow! Great accomplishment indeed! I loved watching the racers in you groove out to the big blue and then return again for the final push. That was one beautifully set triple reefed main! You are fortunate to have each other for such an adventure. Thank you for sharing it! Looking forward to more! Until then, fair winds and following seas!
Congratulations, you guys are an awesome sailing partnership. Great seamanship and upbeat vibes. Really a model we can all try and aspire to . Enjoy the Seychelles, they are fab! Have a well earned rest :0) thankyou for sharing
Bravo Zulu guys. As a fellow mariner, great to watch this journey. The feeling of sighting land after weeks at sea is one of best - no matter what vessel you are on or how many times you’ve done it. Hope you enjoyed the long awaited sleep.
I loved sailing with you on your 3000 plus mile journey across the Indian Ocean. I couldn't have been happier for you when Matt called out "land Ho". Stay well ans safe and enjoy your new short term home.
You rock. Such an epic video and so good to see you safely in the Seychelles! Can't wait for the next series of episodes as you explore ultimate paradise!
Your editing skills are next to none! I enjoyed every episode. Excited for you seeing a new country at last. You hung in there through COVID-19 better than most.
A fantastic achievement. Your attention to detail and pre-trip planning shows how a well prepared crossing can achieve your goals without tearing everything apart. I also like the completely candid, and without exaggeration, description of life aboard while crossing.
Awesome effort guys, sailing two handed is tough especially for 23 days, just missed you in NZ and then again in Fiji, we’ve sold Manihiki and I do miss it, surprisingly I miss the night watches with good weather of course, it just seems so peaceful and the moon skipping across the ocean, just magic. Have decided I’m definitely going to crew some voyages with the sailors we met whilst in the islands, once again I take my hat off to you, fantastic effort and congratulations to both of you. ⛵️🏆
Fantastic planning and executing! and maybe a little luck as well. After several years ya'll are still our favorite. Thank you so much. Dee and Deb Chesapeake Bay Virginia
Hell of a fine Job you Guys. Nice fast passage. My long passage from Ecuador to the Marquesas was over 3000 miles. You passage brought it to mind. I watch several channels, but yours is by far my favorite. I am in Hobart Tasmania on my Southern Cross39 refitting after having cruised steadily albiet slowly for the past 11years. awaiting next season to head on west up through Indonesia. Looking for a older version of Amy. Perhaps you know one...Ha ha ha. Your Channel is so real. The kind of cruising on a budget that used to be more common. There is not one part I cannot identify with. Have you guys ever talked about Heaving to as a storm tactic. You certainly have the right sails for it. You guys are well respected and I think a lot of young sailors and old alike would benefit from your thoughts. Thank you for such lovely real sailing entertainment. Perhaps I will look you all up when I do the Canals of Europe in a few years....Cheers Kim of SV Philiosophy PS would love to know who you all used for weather routing, and what your thoughts were.
Hi Kim, So far we have not needed to heave to in bad weather, we have only done it to wait for light to enter reef passes at the end of a passage in moderate conditions. The couple of times we have had 50 knots of wind we have not been far from safe harbour and were able to just run under bare poles. The next section down to South Africa may present more of a challenge! We make our own weather routing and decisions but used Des Cason on this trip to look at the bigger picture for us (big grib files cost us too much to download via sat-phone).
@@SailingYachtFlorence Cool thanks for getting back. I wonder if you are downloading gribs via Sailmail or Predict Wind. I agree on big crossings a good weather guy is hard to beat. I have over the years found Predict Wind very easy to beat ad in allowing their algorithms to run too long with terrible accuracy. On a crossing from New Zealand I had several days when they were so far off as to be...Not good. 55kts with them saying 15-20. I did Heave to and called ub Met Bob for routing. Be well and a fine couple Sailors you two are
Congratulations what an accomplishment!! Thank you for bringing us along. It was a absolute pleasure watching the both of you working together. I learnt the most about blue water sailing and crossing oceans after watching these episodes. Beautiful narrated and compiled to create something magical. 👍
Congrats on a safe passage, you guys are awesome, not to mention so brave, thanks for sharing your adventures 😃 great job on filming, when everything is bouncing around,,wow!!!I'm laying in bed,and can feel the excitement,so cool!
Thank you for documenting your experiences and being honest in your day to day endeavors. The trueness of the challenges you face seem to come across well from my perspective. It is appreciated.
Glad to see that you have arrived safely. I so enjoy your adventures, you cheer me up in these covid times. Thank you for all of your grand videos. Talush in Atlantic Canada
I had the luck to work in Seychelles for over 4 years, and met my wife there, so it has a special place in my heart. I must admit a hint of a tear in my eyes as I saw Mahe coming over the horizon. Hope you are having a great time: it has great beaches but also fantastic hiking trails over the mountains. Not to mention the islands of Praslin and La Digue amongst the many others to explore. Hope you enjoy that very special part of the world!
Many congratulations. Loved the sailing footage. Since you know what, there hasn't been a great deal of it. Sailing Uma showed some and now you showed loads. All the other footage is great but the sailing is what I like.
It's a massive achievement, you guys are massive! GPS makes navigation easier, but you know the will it takes to sail a small boat such a long way. You, rightly, will remember this for the rest of your life. Congratulations and many best wishes.
Well done Florence Congratulations for the lovely filming along the way You are an inspiration for all of us forced into various lockdowns and crazy mandates! Cheers
Good to see you Amy and Matt ! You have made it ! I have watched this episode 3 times already. Just brilliant ! Beautifully shot with the sound of the waves and it made me feel like I am on the boat. It is amazing how much skill and expertise is required to sail across an ocean. It has been fascinating watching you fix things and solve problems.
Am I the first to congrat you on the perfect nail paintjob!? Love the effort to keep some civilization on a wilderniss adventure!

I've been watching you two for a while now and Florence seems to be so easy to sail compared to other's I've watched,, Stay safe ,,
They are both very competent sailors and dinghy racers, and know their boat well. It's a good boat and they make it look easy.

Awesome passage , enjoy your well deserved fish (Bonito? Some other small Tuna?) and recovery sleep.

You two are such an inspiration. Way to go Mates!!

This is a remarkable lifetime achievement. Congratulations!
This is what we like - following your channel
Congratulations. An amazing achievement. You are a great team.
Grand passage you two! Yes, always that numb feeling from sleep deprivation. Cheers to you both :D
Fantastic stuff.
Congrats.
Locked down here in NZ , finally allowed to sail but not anchor overnight so feels like a prison sentence.
Watch this at my marina , beer in hand .
You are helping me maintain my sanity.
Cheers.
Congratulations on a well executed crossing, beautifully filmed. A timely reminder of the fact that great oceans can be crossed in relatively simple robust boats👍
Mission accomplished! I bet that land is a sight for sore eyes after 3 weeks of rockin and rollin. Well done.
Best channel on UA-cam. Glad you're safe and well.
