Amy is so adorably cute! I love the awesome way you two treat one another. You capture your sailing adventures so well in each episode....thank you for that!
Another wonderful episode, loved every minute of it, thank you! Growing up in South Africa, I went to a boarding school in the country, not too far from the Northern Drakensberg, and we spent a number of weekends camping there, hiking those mountains and canoeing the rivers. I climbed that very same chain ladder to the top of the Tugela Falls when I was 16, and we camped in the cave at the bottom of the ladder the night before. But the Witsieshoek Road that you drove up there on (you cheaters! 😆) wasn't built back in 1973 when I did it, and we hiked all the way from the bottom, from the Rugged Glen Camp Site, all the way up in one day to the cave, then up the chain ladder and on to the top at first light the next day, and then hiked all the way back down after that, in order to get back to school and be cleaned up and in time for 6pm church service 😅. It was one heck of a challenge, but an adventure I've never forgotten. And then you went up the George, which I've hiked up twice, the last time with my wife and kids aged 4 and 7, and some other friends of ours, just a few months before we left SA in 1998 to mo ve to the USA. Memories that will last a lifetime, as I 'm sure yours will too, of this epic time you had in SA. Thank you for sharing all of this with us, you will never know the joy it brings to us South Africans, to see a couple like you two, enjoying and appreciating our country as much as we do. No wonder that all the ex-pat South Africans who have commented here, are all pretty homesick after watching these episodes. Blessings to you both, as always, you two are the best 🙏🏻🙏🏻
came for the sailing, stayed for the incredible story telling, cinematography, and proper film making skills music score and everything, you guys are doing a fantastic job! Welcome and enjoy the motherland!
It's so nice that you both love and trust Florence completely. and, you love and trust each others competency completely. All very, very nice and comforting.
Been watching for years, from the start, and this is definitely one of my favorites of your adventures. Wow, wow, wow what stunning views on that hike. A landscape photographer's dream. It so reminds me of hiking my beloved Yosemite National Park, with its towering cliffs, impossibly beautiful vistas and crashing waterfalls. Then topped off by that perfect sail. Sitting there together arm in arm on that sail you both look so happy and alive. Great stuff, a bloody ripper, as the Aussies would say.
I feel so proud of our magic South Africa. You are the most amazing sailing team. You have delivered to the world some of the gold of our country. Yes a bit. The amphitheatre touches the heavens. I am so happy that you visited the gorge as well and looked up at Devils tooth. You are diplomats for us. Your tenacity and energy is inspiring. I just hope I can see you enter Cape Town and berth at RCYC. There are more treats waiting for you. Like a mountain close to the sea and maybe a vineyard or two and a walk in Newlands forest.
Thank you Matt and Amy, speechless after that last adventure except to say what wonderful filming, we enjoy every minute and you are our favourite sailing adventurers. Godspeed! .
Beautiful boat , beautiful couple , beautiful scenery !!! Continued good luck on your adventures and may the wind always be at you back and filling your sails !!!😁🙏☝🙏👍👍👍
I was so looking forward to seeing Florence break her speed record, I thought she would be screaming down big rollers and we would all be shortening fingernails, but it was largely uneventful, it must have felt strange to be going that speed calmly. That water fall is amazing and I didn't think my computer could take my breath like it did seeing that place on earth Beautiful shots of the sea state to come, I can't wait to see Florence in this. Love you both.
I watched this one after I watched Cape of Storms. Struck me how fit you both are, able to climb that waterfall, after periods at sea! The clarity of your filming is exquisite! ⛵️
WOW!! you guys have made some stunning videos in the past but this one sets a new standard, raises the bar, not just for yourselves but for all content providers on any media platform anywhere - "period" Your commentary was so spot on and your choice of music for each segment was absolutely perfect. I sooooooo much enjoyed this presentation and thank you for showing us a wonderful part of Africa that so many of us will never see or experience. You captured it so well, you almost felt like you were there. Good on ya!!!!. Can't wait to see the next one, fair winds, calm seas and all the luck you deserve. 😊👍
Hi Amy & Matt, Wow, your photography is stunning, but you do get to some gorgeous locations. That was some hike to the top of that HIGHEST waterfall in the world Well done!!!! You certainly chose your weather window well, 9-11 kts, phew life in the fast lane I'd say. I was only saying to my wife yesterday (24/03/22) I hadn't seen your latest video, then blow me down, up it popped. Thank you. Barnacle Bern SY Cadbri SW Wales UK. 👍👍😎⛵
Thank you so much for sharing your journey with us! It gives this old farmer a chance to see other parts of the world! I was amazed at South Africa. Safe travels!
You are not stuck there! You have been compelled by nature to take in your surroundings! Wow that chain ladder is extreme! After following the two of you for several years and looking forward to every video! This is a video that will stand for me. You explored the area and took it all in, that is what travel is all all about. I know because as a pilot have traveled all over the world flying. Did I get to enjoy those places? Not often. There and back was most of the time. So when I did sail my Irwin 45 I made the most of every opportunity when going ashore for a new adventure. Be safe guys! 😁🛫
This is the best channel for its filming of the absolutely beautiful places you all go!!!! Thanks for sharing all this with us. This is the only way that I’ll ever get to see some other parts of our beautiful world. So stunning!!!!
We'll guy's what a beautiful stunning video, welcome to the beginning of man King I love watching your videos it's like going back to school, see ya'll injoying your self brings joy to my heart Africa is my favourite place it gives one the feeling of being part of nature hopefully I'll be bumping into ya'll soo have fun, keep smiling because I do everytime I see you both ❤️
Another superb video. I envy your youth, adventurous spirit , good looks and skills and wish that l had these attributes when l was your age. I look forward to watch the next vlog and wish you fair winds and a following sea. xx
WOW, WOW!!!!! It just gets better and better!!! The scenery is just so beautiful I kept thinking I was there with you guys!! And then we are at sea and could feel the wind and the sun!!!! It just seems and feels so realistic, the videography is so beautifully done. I was unable to view this video right away, nice surprise for a Tuesday!!! Thanks guys good sailing, and God bless!!
Absolutely love following you two. Beautiful videography, enthralling storytelling, and best of all, it’s great seeing a couple so much in love. There should be so much more of the latter.
What a stunning video. The scenery is incredible. Also good to see the gods smiling on you for your trip down the coast (I appreciate its short-lived!). Thanks again for the video.
Congratulations on reaching 100k, a feat well deserved by the crew of Sailing Florence. Always a wonderful experience following along on your adventures. Thank you....🎉🤟
Fantastic episode in EVERY way.. Even your commentary is wonderful...So glad you made it safely down the Wild Coast and to the highest waterfall in the world .. 983 meters stunning views !!❤
wow, spectacular hikes! thank you for taking us along, and a wonderful video!...land ho! , she's given you another safe big ocean passage - here's to Florence!!!
I love your videos so much. That was one of the best. It’s such a long two weeks between them. Thank you for showing us amazing places I’d never get to see otherwise.
The opening chapter of _Jock of the Bushveld,_ Sir Percy FitzPatrick, describes the ferocity and power of the storms in that part of the world. It is also imho the greatest dog story ever told. But it does use terms that today would be offensive, but time doesn't move backwards.
Stellar episode Matt and Amy. Absolutely brilliant . The love and respect you share with one another is a lovely part of your incredible adventure. 100K🎉
10.5 kts SOG that's awesome! I like the creative marketing with the waterfall, It was pretty spectacular but I think Angel Falls has the greatest uninterrupted drop. Can't wait until the next one - that's the first time I've seen waves on a video actually look big so they must have been humungous!
100,000 and well deserved as your channel is the best sailing journey site on the web. Growing up in a sailing family your adventure and willingness to take it on is beyond an incredible story and we all say congratulations and thank you for sharing your lives. God Bless you both in life and your journey. Glenn
Thanks for another great episode Matt and Amy that waterfall was awesome and I couldn't believe how much distance florence covered in 24 hours. Looking forward to the next one
Fascinating- we sailed out of Durban for many years before spending years in the Med. Now in New Zealand, too old sail and filled with nostalgia. It is wonderful that you have the opportunity to do what you are doing. Best of luck and fair winds behind you.
Brilliant video. They just get better and better. Perfect mix of sailing tips, stunning photography, and geographical interest. My only complaint - i end up drinking too much wine while watching. Well done.
Wow just wow! Thank you both so much for taking us along on such an incredible journey. This episode was so well done that at times I actually felt as if I was there with you, well almost anyways. Cheers and God speed to both of you.
Sorry to sound repititious of all the other things the viewers are saying, but your videos are just SOOO good! We are running out of metaphors with which to compliment you! Every aspect of your movie making excels and it just makes us wish you had new videos every other day! So glad you had a good start to your first leg and always good to see you making those good decisions when a situation starts to deteriorate, that add to the enjoyment of your adventure story. As someone who can't speak a coherent sentence, it is so nice to here the British set the continual example of how its done!
