    At 2:05 i think you meant to say that the 1 hp well pump fills up the *pressure pump* quickly not the "well". Its very important to be accurate in terminology especially for people who aren't already knowledgeable on this subject it can cause immense confusion! Edit as necessary to correct. Thanks.

    Close to time for a new tank. If I need to match the tank to my existing pump, how can I tell what kind of pump I have? Or do I need a well guy to pull it up and look at it? Otherwise, it it's just a matter of buying a big tank at Lowe's or Home Depot, I'll ending up getting what I can afford. The last time we did this at my grandparents house, it was a few hundred for them to come and look at the existing tank - so grateful we didn't need a well pump.

    It's not rocket surgery. Look at your pump manual. It will list times. Times like minimum run time, minimum off time, etc. You will have a gallons per minute use max.
    The best way to kill a motor is to start it more than necessary. Starting it before it has cooled is another good way to kill one quickly.
    If you turn on all your water outlets and your pump keeps turning on or off too fast you will have a dead well in a year or two. Oversizing is ok if the entire system is sized the same. A large pump with small tanks is still. You figure pump size by how much water you might need, how hard it is to get that up and over, and run times. A smaller motor that will provide just enough is much much better than going bigger just because. There is a science to sizing these components from the pump and motor, piping up, piping size to the structure, usage. I suggest looking at your current motor then looking at the specs for that size stuff. It will say this can pump (x) amount at so many feet etc. Start there. How many gallons might you need? What do you really need to provide that much. What tanks will work with those times and let the motor operate as designed. Same with AC. Bigger is never better that properly sized. Good luck. Get a calculator. It's not hard.

    Sir, can you suggest size and pressure of vessel for a 1 inch 10 metre pipeline. The upstream of vessel need to be connected with pump with discharge 120 lpm and head 15 m. Pump draw water from 30 litre reservoir. The reservoir will recharged by pipeline. Basically I need to develop loop of 1) 30 litre Reservoir 2) Pump 3)Air Vessel 4) 1 inch 10 metre pipe.

      you can go to a Lowes store and match it up, there's not much difference in any of them. just a tanks and rubber bladder.

      I moved here Feb. 1996 & now I have to replace my tank...I think ONLY 'cause the guy who serviced the tank (2 weeks ago) somehow caused a leak from under the tank. Read my comment above. He wants $1200 to replace the tank & some pipes. He won't allow me to buy the tank & he just do the labor 'cause he charges double for the tank...that's how it works around here. BUT if I can get a plumber to do the work, I can buy my tank myself.

    Your reasoning is flawed... the only reason you would need a large tank is if you are using a lot of water everyday, such as at a business where your needed it. The average family home won't need that, and you bladder inside will not last longer if it's bigger. When it goes, you're replacing that tank.. period... So you can spend $1,300 for an 80 gal tank , or $200 dollars on a 20 gal tank every 4 years.. .. take your pick .. The pump will most likely go 20 years easy with heavy use. and cost around $500.. You do the math.

    • @Crazystuffyousee
      @Crazystuffyousee 6 років тому +6

      He didnt say the bladder will last longer. Its a well known fact within the industry that a larger pressure tank will offer less cycle times for the well pump. Less cycling of the pump is not only better for reliability but also reduces your energy usage.

      TheDirtyyouman1 I don't know who does your plumbing but removing and replacing the 3/4 hp submersible pump in my 200 ft. well that failed prematurely because the 40 gallon pressurized water tank in the house was too small for our four bath house and ran too often cost me nearly $1,200. That makes a larger, 119 gallon pressurized well water tank ($599.99 at Home Depot) look very appealing.

      I appreciate your comment above. I just purchased a McDonald E series 1/2 hp Booster Pump for my house. It's the revised version of the DuraMac but smaller 1/2 gallon pressure tank. I'm on community well that services over 50 homes. My current water is about 25psi and i want to bump up to 50+. I have one plumber saying it will be perfect for my house, but another plumber is recommending larger pressure tank. Any thoughts?

    • @scottsmith4145
      @scottsmith4145 3 роки тому +1

      Both are correct to some degree. It all comes down to the drawdown needed for the household. If the tank dd is not matched to the pump dd properly, the pump will short cycle and isn't going to last long. You can go with a tank that offers higher drawdown than the pump and be ok,, but not lesser. But as dirtyyoungman1 implied you can also go overboard as well buying too large of tank spending lots of $$. So it really comes down to first estimate the drawdown needed for the household and buy a pump who's drawdown matches this and then match the pressure tank drawdown to match the pump. Often these tutorials just talk about matching a tank to an existing pump but don't talk about how to choose the pump which makes one think it all about the tank when in actuality its a combination of both.
