Trying to outbrake anything else doing an emergency stop on a bike will just result in hitting the back of them.
When he says "outbrake" he doesn't actually mean going from 60-0 or stopping completely, yes cars can usually fully stop quicker than most bikes, but bikes can decelerate faster than most cars, not fully stop faster. For example a gsxr1000 can go from 100 mph to 30 mph faster than 99% of cars. You are right in the sense than the tires of a bike would lock up because of the small contact patches if the same pressure was applied to the brakes on those of a car, but when decelerating the light weight of the bike prevents it from sliding. An 850lb Harley's brakes will lock up more easily than a 400lb sport bikes brakes if the same break pressure is applied.

So true. I just bought an 03 Yamaha R1 and stock this thing runs a 10.17 quarter at @140 mph. The newer models are faster, but only after 110 mph. I don't think I'll ever need to be able to accelerate faster above 110 mph now that I'm 46 and not wanting to see Jesus yet 😂. I went to high school in the late 80s and the GS Exar in the ninja 1000 and my buddy had I think it was a GS 750 turbo by Kawasaki does that sound right with a little tiny window plate that eventually killed him too that was probably the fastest bike I ever rode very scary like an RD 400 with 100 pounds of turbo boost. The RD was called rapid death for a reason
@@John-209 Sad story. Buddy of mine had an 80's turbo Kawi, the original Widow makers. Problem with those bikes, even up to the first 99 R1 was their engines were too powerful for the suspensions and brakes with no steering dampers too boot. Not that it matters, you can get killed on anything but these new bikes are making riders think they are better than they are w/ rider assistance.
I bought my 2007 ZX-14 for $6,000 and it had less than 3,500 miles on it. At the time (2012) there didn’t seem to be a lot of demand for the hyper bikes.
@@ravindecavalier2912 The liter bikes just seem to have a lot more demand. Maybe people think they’re safer or something, I don’t know. They’re both equally deadly IMO lol, and the liter bikes are just about as fast as the hyperbikes; running around 10 in the quarter and sub 3 second 60’s. As far as any amateur rider is concerned they’re equally as fast in straights. Liter bikes handle better and the hyperbikes are more comfortable. Although I wouldn’t say the 14 is designed for long distances. My hands would start to go numb at 30 mins. The concourse is a better option and only slightly slower.
I love these videos, not only do I (the average rider) learn something new about various bikes, but the on board video and commentary is top notch. Thanks SRK Cycles for the great content, God Bless.
I owned the 07 GSXR 600 it was such a comfortable ride I sat on so many different brands of sport bikes and the GSXR had such a great seat. Miss the bike but I don’t miss the tickets I got. Thinking I’m cruising, then look down and I’m doing 105 MPH. Just an all around great bike though.
As much as I loved my K6 GSX-R600 and love my 2014 R-1, this is top 10bone of the best looking sport bikes out there. Ducati has stepped it up even more lately with the 1299 Panigale and the V4, but this one is up there. MV Agusta F3 is also one hell of a looker.
Its amazing how much better the new bikes are... 157 to the wheel 460lbs from a 2007 while my new R1S (the cheaper lower performance version) puts down 179 wheel and weighs 419lbs (actually 399 since I took a lot off it). The new GSXRs are even more powerful once ECU is flashed/ tuned and can put down 195 or so to the wheel!
But the newer bikes have almost no lower rpm power. All that hp is up there in the 12k+ rpm range. The older superbikes were made more for street use and not as dedicated for track use. If you ride against an 03 R1 he'd either be right next to you or beating you up until about 100 mph, and if you spend a lot of time over 100 mph you will definitely be seeing Jesus pretty quickly 😂. Older R1 only has 152 hp, but the dyno sheets show more power in lower rpms than newer bikes with 30-50 more hp. Even the quarter mile times are like 1 or 2 tenths of a second difference, and another reason for that is because your computer stuff forces your bike to slow down.
My gsxr was an 89' 1100. Bought it New. It had a sickening, crushing acceleration that is incredible. It required knowledge of counterstearing as well as what happens when you hit the brake in a counterstear. I went to a few riding courses to actually learn how to ride it safely. I rarely let it loose but there is a 10 mile stretch east of Rudyard Montana you can see it entirely on a clear day....... Not comfortable for any long distance in the riding position you are forced into and I often warmed my hands on top of the cylinderhead. Getting off it after 600 miles in a day will remind you why they make touring bikes. I'd never buy another but I loved the one I had.
I've seen people start on 300's and work their way up to the bigger bikes, I've also seen people go straight for top of the line. I'll agree that there're some people that probably shouldn't be on anything above a scooter, but those big bikes are not that difficult to ride with a little bit of self control/throttle control. It really does come down to the person. That being said, riding a slow bike fast can be more fun than riding a fast bike slow.
@@instant8195 👋 that'd be me. My parents weren't so supportive of the idea lol but I had just turned 18 and was rebellious.. I killed it 3 times leaving the dealership, dropped it the first time I put the kickstand down, and low sided it on the third day. Riding became an obsession and eventually I became ONE of the best riders in my area. About 2 years and 20k miles later, a close childhood friends of mine was street racing a 09 R1 after a friendly disagreement regarding the power the relatively new cross plane yamaha engine made. He bobbed when he should have weaved and clipped the left corner of a 18 wheeler trailer at 158mph (according to the traffic homicide investigator who pulled the ECM and said that's the speed that the engine shut off at) he died instantly. I live very close to Barber motorsports park, and even closer to 14 miles of the twistiest public road I've ever seen, with the exception of the dragons tail. Motorcycle Drag racing and canyon racing was huge in my area in my teens and early twenties. However after losing several friends I sold my sport bikes and quit racing.
The K7-K8 gen. was where they already moved the most of the torque in the powerband to the top of the range. K5-K6 is the OG, with torque along the whole powerband, starting from very low end. I have a remapped K5, I can go in 6th gear in the city (at 50 km/h) and still pull normally. Mechanical brilliance.
I loved my zx636 to death. I had to eventually get rid of it because it was too much trouble, to no fault of the bike. There was just too much temptation in the throttle. Every time I thought to myself “just want to go for a cruise” and about 10 seconds into the ride I’d catch myself twisting the throttle further and further 😂😂
I know that feeling. I commute every day on a liter Suzuki and sometimes I just feel like being reasonable and cruising to work only. Then I get on the highway and never managed not to hit 125 minimum. I know I should buy an adv 650 or something not to go to Jesus to soon.
I am 48 yo and I have a 2008 Suzuki GSF 1250 S. Calmer beast, but still able to hit 0-60 in 3,2 secs and hit 220 km/h (136 mph). Suzuki is the champion of value for money bikes, bless them.
At around 500hp and around 10 tonnes thats still only around 50hp/tonne. Even including the rider a 125 4 stroke like their amazon bikes is similar. Slow.
I had a 07 GSXR 600 tricked out, and I put 48,000 miles on it in 4 years, I took many long road trips for So-Cal to Zion Utah, and Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, the was absolutely Bullet-proof, never broke down, it was the last of the 9 motorcycles that I owned. Like you said it Red Lines 16,000, so when I was in the desert I would cruise at 8,000 RPMs half of the engine Redline at 8000 RPMs it was cruising at 90 miles an hour perfect cruising speed. I dig your Videos. The Fiesta Flash.
Definitely have your Front and Back braking skills ready...I rode a 1997 yzf600r for years..I learned to use both brakes. The front brakes are very powerful and saved me, along with the back brake countless times. Using both brakes is just a part of riding. 👍😊❤️🙏
I miss riding, some of the best times of my life. I had to hang up my helmet, to many close calls from my stupid choices and idiot drivers. I’m lucky to be alive today. Ride safe.
I just stumbled across this while looking up the next bike I want and it was a nice and refreshing surprise hearing you quote scripture in your video. Instantly subscribed
The stock steering damper is quite bad tho. I had a slapper at 180kph and almost came off. Good idea is to take it out and put a 10w in. Had no issues since
i've have the same bike a little modified...complete exhaust akrapovic (one muffler), front fork with mupo cartridges, accossato pump for the front brake, discacciati disks, gubellini control unit reprogrammaed, and air filter. Soon will be new pistons and rods
I just bought an 06 gsxr 600 a couple days ago. My 3rd bike since i started riding in 2011. Its just as fast as modern supersports with 124hp, 51lbft of torque, and 355 dry weight. 158mph top speed. Cost me only 4 grand. And it has super low miles. What a steal.
"When this bike came out, it was so much better" Which is why everyone remembers the K5/6 as the last best Gsxr-1000 (And BMW backwards engineered their S1000RR on) and none beyond that
"This motorcycle was meant to win races and send people to Jesus." By far the BEST comment I have ever heard from anyone describing a sportbike. Well done. You owe me a new Macbook Air keyboard bro because I spit my water out when I heard that!
Mmm, I've had my harley up to about 140 on the highway. My speedo don't go that high but the guy on the CBR behind me filled me in when we got to a stop
I love Suzis since my first GS1100.81 .. in 1990 Why was it 1100 ... I found it very cheap in a garage with problems in the exhaust bolts and the carburetor ... when trying to put a 4/1 kerker exhaust they broke 6 bolts ... and there I learned to fix suzukis and thanks to a friend who taught and supervised me after work .. and since then I have had pure Suzis and two kawis .. cheers
I need to put out a warning on these '07 and '08 GSX-R1000. These bikes were recalled due to frames snapping at the welds causing fatalities. A brace needs to be bolted on these frames to prevent random catastrophic failure. I have personally lost a friend due to this recall issue. Do your homework on these and be safe out there.
Personally I find the more powerful the bike you have more control of it with throttle response, braking and clutch control and they tend to handle better
Maybe so, but it doesnt mean much to be honest since 0-60 hasnt been limited by power for over 30 years now. So its more about a certain rider having a good day. A suzuki RF900 did just about the same time as the GSXR1000 and it lacks 45 horses and weighs about 70lbs more. Place 30 lbs of lead on front axle of the GSXR and it would be even faster 0-60... Thats why the RF900 can match its time, its got a longer wheelbase. Conversly, more modern bikes are too short and even harder to launch.
When referring to the speed of this bike in first gear ... "I don't know that from experience , I just know that from what the textbooks tell me." That was hilarious!
Very good review, but according to a couple of sources, the dry weight of the 07 machine was 379 lbs+-. Wet was 423lbs. You indicated 460 lbs. I agree with you when you indicated the 599cc GSXR reaches it's strongest power curve at around 8K RPM. I owned one of my most favorite bikes, a 2006 Honda 600RR and experienced for the first time a similar power curve of it's 599cc engine. Aside from owning a BSA, Honda 450 DOHC, most of my bikes since have been Ducatis. The Honda was my first inline 4 and I was blow away by the power it produced for being only 599cc. The V Twin Ducatis had great torque in all gears, but didn't have that turbo effect like the Suzuki or Honda at higher RPMs. As with the Suzuki, after 7k RPM the Honda also took off like a rocket all the way to red line and from what I recall that was around 14k RPMs. The power was addicting and eventually got me into trouble when I almost killed myself in a very bad road accident. Currently I ride a Ducati 999R and your review now makes me interested in getting another 600 or the 1000 in the year range you featured, affordability being a big factor. However, maybe I might consider a newer one just to experience modern electronics for the first time. Power is a non-issue because the bikes you highlighted had plenty of that on tap, no need for anymore.
This was my first taste of a liter bike after riding a Ducati scrambler 800 for two years. It was miserable on the street, but I loved the speed. Ended up getting a ktm 1290 super duke r shorty after. Totaled that bike due to target fixation on a curb after 10 days and 400mi of ownership. Any bike with 130+ hp is scary fast. In a good way.
1000cc Bikes are amazing, you need to work your way up to them, but once your there and you gain some experience riding them, theres nothing else like it. Currently riding a 2007 Fireblade in the Repsol Colours, never get bored of it.
Fell down the UA-cam rabbit hole and ended up on this video. Great content, but more than that, your ride looked like it was from “back home” By that I mean I didn’t know where you were located and the longer you rode, I kept saying “that’s PA or MD”. I’m from a small town just over the PA border in MD. This time of year I’d be traveling there to visit family, but things being what they are, I doubt my Florida license plate would be overly welcome. FYI - brand new motorcycle rider (Suzuki sport bike at age 50), with no plans to own a liter bike. But they sure look fun! Thank you for the views from home!
8:00 Right on! And also the better handling with the power to get you away from trouble. That's why cruisers and UJMs are more dangerous for new and exp riders than a lightweight sport bike.
I was so close to buying an 08 then Covid took my wallet lol. However I ended up settling for a 1700 Yamaha Roadstar. I still have a k1 600 gsxr with only 80k on it
I learned to ride on that same bike. Not saying anyone should learn to ride on it because it commands respect. Or my father wanted my life insurance. Never crashed it or came close to meeting Jesus. Close to 80k miles now. Never replaced the clutch, no valve adjustment nothing. Only replaced fork seals and regular maintenance. One of the most reliable bikes ever made.
Ive owned 3 bikes in my life. A 1993 Kawasaki EX500, then a 1992 Yamaha FZR 600, and I currently ride a 2005 Honda CBR 1000RR. Like he says, its really hard to drive the speed limit. My Honda just wants to be at 90 and above on the highway, and it is really hard to stay at the speed limit. My Honda only has about 22k miles on it. Im 50 and have turned into wuss mode. In the garage from late Oct through late March..... and I am in Northern Ca.
I have been riding since 2004 and I started on a 01 r6. I have had several bikes. Recently was a 08 zzr600, and a vulcan 800cc classic. I'm wanting to go back to a sportbike. I would think with my year's of experience on these bikes I would be okay on a gsxr1000, but I have never been on a liter bike, and I know it's a huge difference.
I grew up riding dirt bikes, quads and everything in between. I had cruisers in high school but my dad said if I brought home a sport bike he’d blow a hole in the motor with his 30-06. Lol so I moved out after graduation and bought my first sport bike a 05 Kawasaki ZX-6R and it humbled me right away. It’s one of my most favorite bikes, I enjoyed it so much but it was fully capable of getting you dead real quick so I never got a 750 or 1000

Same explanation for why I choose naked bikes to those with wind protection. Enough power and fun, but the wind shows you where to slow down.
I bought my 2007 ZX-14 for $6,000 and it had less than 3,500 miles on it. At the time (2012) there didn’t seem to be a lot of demand for the hyper bikes.
My dad bought a ninja 1000 for 9k back in 2011 you got lucky bro 💀😭
I'm forever damaged by your screen name. Thank you.
Love the 2006-2008 suzuki models they look so sharp.
Me too. 06 was my first GSXR.
All GSXRs look he same to me

I loved the headlight design on my 08 750
As much as I loved my K6 GSX-R600 and love my 2014 R-1, this is top 10bone of the best looking sport bikes out there. Ducati has stepped it up even more lately with the 1299 Panigale and the V4, but this one is up there. MV Agusta F3 is also one hell of a looker.
"Once you get to the highway speeds, 100mph+" lol...I love you brother, always keeping it real.
@@Chrisnuzzo76 08zx10 puts down 200+hp at the rear wheel.

@@BlueRage thanks.
This dude is the best , words of wisdom and informative. Loving the Bible verse of the day !!!!!
LOL 😆 🤣 😂
Only because of regulation in the United States they could be way faster but it's against regulations
This was the bike I learned to ride on at 18 years old.... I am lucky to be here typing this.... Not all of my riding buddies were as lucky.
Who buys a gsxr 1000 as a new rider ? :D

Update.... I bought an 08 r1 this week.... Old habits die hard I guess. A little older and wiser this go around.
I remember branding my calf when I was younger, on accident. It said Yamaha for about a month 😭
Ha ha ha say the name again 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I had a yamaha logo bruise on my ass for a month as a teenager crashing a jet ski 🤣
The thing about getting burned by an exhaust is that it's a 2 second lesson with a lifetime of memories.
I've had this bike since 2013. It's still a beast
Any mods?
I had 636 as well all black fun bike
had a blue zx636... it was fast too, but I loved the handling of the GSXR more!
Riding a fast bike slowly can be a fun thing
I've watched so many of these videos that I could easily navigate through your city without GPS.
Lmao 😂
I am 48 yo and I have a 2008 Suzuki GSF 1250 S. Calmer beast, but still able to hit 0-60 in 3,2 secs and hit 220 km/h (136 mph). Suzuki is the champion of value for money bikes, bless them.

Totaled a GSXR 600 because I was going too fast and panicked when the road starting turning. Bedridden for a week. lucky I had no broken bones
Just so you know starting out in fifth gear unloaded or bobtailing in a semi isn't slow.
Still slow
At around 500hp and around 10 tonnes thats still only around 50hp/tonne. Even including the rider a 125 4 stroke like their amazon bikes is similar.
Slow.
Faster than a bicycle but still slow!

In Bangladesh, there is cc limit to motorbike, the limit is 165cc. So the fastest street legal is gsx150r with the too speed if 170kmph/106mph
Definitely have your Front and Back braking skills ready...I rode a 1997 yzf600r for years..I learned to use both brakes. The front brakes are very powerful and saved me, along with the back brake countless times. Using both brakes is just a part of riding. 👍😊❤️🙏
On the track we never even used the rear brake since the rear wheel is nearly off the ground anyway.

I can't get over the fact that can't legally red line these things. I'll stick to my "slow" royal enfield.
"When this bike came out, it was so much better"
Which is why everyone remembers the K5/6 as the last best Gsxr-1000 (And BMW backwards engineered their S1000RR on) and none beyond that
"1000's kill pretty much everyone who rides them" lol, I must have died over a thousand times. 😅
You, me too had a KZ-1000, only issue wolfie ran out in front of me, panic trying not to hit wolfie over the ole handle bars.
I love that terrified 0-60 take off you did haha. It's scary with the front end wants to jump up immediately.

The trees blur out on their own about 145 to 160 😆🤣
"This motorcycle was meant to win races and send people to Jesus." By far the BEST comment I have ever heard from anyone describing a sportbike. Well done.

I love Suzis since my first GS1100.81 .. in 1990
Why was it 1100 ... I found it very cheap in a garage with problems in the exhaust bolts and the carburetor ... when trying to put a 4/1 kerker exhaust they broke 6 bolts ... and there I learned to fix suzukis and thanks to a friend who taught and supervised me after work ..
and since then I have had pure Suzis and two kawis .. cheers
I guess I never noticed this before but when I want to go fast too I use my hand and generate that exact same motion you do at 7 minutes 30 seconds 😎
That was a sweet HARLEY that passed you at 6:18 lol
Personally I find the more powerful the bike you have more control of it with throttle response, braking and clutch control and they tend to handle better
"Why are you going so slow?! Then you realize they're going +20 over" 🤣🤣 yup that's me
I have that very same bike color scheme scheme and all everywhere I go somebody wants to buy it for racing
To this date the 2005/06 GSXR 1000 still has the fastest 0-60 time of any street bike ever made. Yes even the H2.
Amen
I have one, I believe that lol
Maybe so, but it doesnt mean much to be honest since 0-60 hasnt been limited by power for over 30 years now. So its more about a certain rider having a good day. A suzuki RF900 did just about the same time as the GSXR1000 and it lacks 45 horses and weighs about 70lbs more. Place 30 lbs of lead on front axle of the GSXR and it would be even faster 0-60... Thats why the RF900 can match its time, its got a longer wheelbase. Conversly, more modern bikes are too short and even harder to launch.
Yes 2.3 seconds
I believe that title goes to Yamaha MT10 , I think 2.4 seconds that’s just nuts
62 here and still loving my R1. I made a promise to the The Big Guy that I would respect this bike on every ride.
This video was uploaded on my birthday! But I love the Jesus jokes and the verse of the day, God bless you brother!

This time of year I’d be traveling there to visit family, but things being what they are, I doubt my Florida license plate would be overly welcome.
