As a trainee counselor, I really appreciate this video. Very useful!

Group work is remarkable unless you’re dysfunctionally independent in which case you can’t stand being in the group itself. Social anxiety also is tricky in groups. I like and value this content and find it valuable as a practitioner so thank you. I’m pretty sure we are all addicts of some sort towards something so not sure what that other comment is all about. We should be grateful for this material and it being freely and widely available to help educate us!! Thank you for your efforts. 🙏🏻

This was a great and charming video. Thank you! I’m currently taking a group processing course and am trying to grasp the concept of content vs process. This video was helpful. :)

My issue in group therapy is that I'm happy to listen but I flatly refuse to talk about myself and/or talk about myself. The problem is unless I trust some 100% I will never open up or be vulnerable with them.

This video makes a lot of good points but is extremely harsh and cold towards addicts and could have gone about explaining things in a more open and empathetic way, literally ever person is a subjective world that has had a completely different life and these substances and various drugs out there are so physically addicting. I mean, some people aren’t even in denial about what they are doing, they don’t care anymore bc a piece of your brain is literally taking over and controlling you, of course you can get better, but these is a reason why so many drugs kill people. Group therapy is obviously amazingly helpful and there is hope for anyone when they put there mind to it, some people don’t even have these resources...but I don’t think this video addressed this in the best way.

What a helpful explanation of why a leader might seem unpredictable and looking away etc. I have spent a year in an analytic group trying to figure out WTF is going on. Very distracted by process and actually very stressed by it.

cadmantheaviator it doesn’t sound like it’s working for you, can you find a new group?

Beware what you try. I stayed against my better judgement for over a year in group analytic psychotherapy. My health declined, I felt suicidal and unable to think about anything besides the fear I felt about the therapist and their tactics. Crudely manipulative and judgemental. My autonomy degraded with repeated insistence that I would not accept the "care" of the group. A terrifying experience that will forever mean I cannot conceive of trusting someone who calls themselves a "psychotherapist." Be careful. People who think they know what's best for other people, are the most dangerous of all.

The music is so distracting I stopped watching it halfway through. It's louder than the voices speaking.

Addicts are this and that. doesn't seem a very helpful way to approach complex behaviour. Attaching labels and branding individuals doesn't seem right. i have addictive traits but don't exhibit these behaviours. Some do but many people do in all walks of life.

WOW THIS IS REALLY CONDESCENDING. Extremely dependent on primitive hierarchies and this whole egotistical need to feel superior to the other. Bit colonialist and should be obsolete. Yikes.
