I live in Atlanta Ga, I have been to Vallarta 4 times as a tourist, and will be back next month. All these tips are amazing. The only thing I would not suggest is taking an Uber from the airport. Even tho the taxi will be higher than the Uber when you cross the bridge, compared to rates in the US, is not something that would break your pocket. I take a taxi that I pay inside the airport, go to my hotel, and then move around from there on an Uber. There is no way that as a foreign I would get on a public transportation bus. All the rides in Vallarta in Uber was anywhere from $7-12. To me that is very affordable and safe.
Hi, just wanted to say thank you for this very useful video, we did the Uber from airport to hotel from your direction, worked out great. ATM hints, great info, never knew we can deny something and can still get money 😂. Public transportation- we rode the bus quite a few times, we stayed at 2 hotels, one was 3 miles the other is 1.5 miles from zona romantica, bus drivers were very nice, they remind us where to get off 😊 we even rode it all the way to Baca De Tomatlán to do some hiking, and then rode a boat back to the trailhead, that was fun. Puerto Vallarta is such a friendly city, found all the food stands and places we want to to try, the most memorable is the chicharrones shop next to Collins bakery, pastor from Poncho’s takos and too many others to mention. Thank you again, keep on with your great work.
Helpful tips, thank you! I generally like to take an uber paired with a bus to offset the price surges during popular times. Just have the 10 peso coin handy, like you said. It's easy! People are very patient in PV.! 🌺 also don’t forget your mask. They still do that on the bus!
You both do some great videos. And thanks for posting them as they are extremely helpful. I would love to know what places to go to to see some authentic cultural shows. I was in Cancun and went to Excarat and seen an evening show that was fantastic and would love to know if there are some in Puerto Vallarta. I would like to know if there's different ones to check out as well. Thank you for all you do and look forward to hearing from you, Cheers. 11:21
Glad you like our videos! We can't think of somewhere that offers a cultural show as magnificent as Xcaret does. However, the Rhythms of the Night experience with Vallarta Adventures is definitely the closest thing you'd find to that, and FUN FACT: it's where we got married!
Hi Martin & Juliana! I adore your videos, they are so helpful. My family is looking at spending two weeks I'm Puerto Vallarta in October. The hotel is in Conchas China's. We have two kids, ages 5 & 7. How do you feel about this area with kids?
Hello hello! Thanks for stopping by! That will be a fabulous trip! That area is stunning. Just know that you will likely need to order ubers to leave your hotel though, as it's not a walkable area due to it being on a cliffside. But the beaches are STUNNING!!
Great information! My wife and I were there last month and return to 5 de Deciembre next month. This is very useful information since we are already oriented to the area. Gracias!

So happy that I found your page before we leave for Puerto Vallarta in Aug. I’m hoping that they have a bus, that goes to Walmart, because that’s the first place I want to go.
the difference between a cab ride to romantic zone vs didi(uber) was 25 US dollars vs like 5 us dollars. Try to have Didi set up before you go there and put money into it. Sometimes our credit card didnt always work and we got delayed awhile till we got it straightened out. Take money from usa banks before you go there....make sure you have very small amounts as public bathrooms cost small change but you wont have that small coin so you will pay alot more.
That's awesome! Honestly, we'd probably advise against scooters because of the roads. With the sand and gravel in some areas, it's really easy to wipe out.

Great video! Do you have any specific recommendations for visiting during the rainy season? We’ll be coming in late August. Tours, etc. that work well during that time?
I'd avoid evening tours (like rhythm of the night). Tours that leave around 9am-10am are going to work best! We like the Las Caletas tour with Vallarta Adventures, or doing a Taco tour with Vallarta Food Tours (they have some in the morning :D)
Hello, thank you for the nice video. is there a bus from the airport to city centre? could you write the cheap place to stay and are they in the centre please?
There is! You can take any bus that says "centro" that passes in front of the airport. We've done it many times, but it is really difficult with luggage! We'd only recommend this if the buses aren't too packed. One hotel that is more affordable is Krystal. A few friends of our stayed there for about $70 per night and enjoyed it. Los Arcos is also a good price for the location (~$100 a night). We haven't stayed in any cheaper hotels than these.
Hi i am going with my wife and 5 years old , we are travelling for the beach mainly. we looking for beach friendly and affordable accommodation close to restaurants. what do you recommend for a family. Thank you

Hi, thank you for the wonderful video! Just a need confirmation, I’m visiting for a week and leaving on July 29 but my passport expires August 3. I read( from a few sources) that it’s ok as long as my passport is valid during exit which it is. I won’t get detained correct? Thanks
Thank you. I appreciate how you two get to the point. One question: Do Mexican businesses accept US dollars or do I need to convert my dollars for pesos all the time.
Thanks! Most do accept US dollars, but they also usually create their own exchange rate that won't benefit you much. We'd suggest using pesos if possible.
@@TouristtoLocal I think this depends, some shops’ exchange rate was higher than bank or ATM because they want you to shop, we bought some T-shirt using USD and it was 20 peso to 1 USD while it was about 17 or 18 that day, but I’d agree to use peso, we used USD that day because we were out of peso and that was the only item we buy before we go home.
I experienced what you talk about - high currency fees AND high taxi prices at the Airport. I told them "This is NOT NYC - this is Mexico" and, then, I took the city bus to the Romantic District - gave a big tip to the bus driver - he kept declining, but I wouldn't hear of it.
@@Excalibur_86 They likely do NOT permit Uber at the airport, but take your luggage and move to another pickup place or just take the bus stop. Do not pay the NYC pricing for taxis at the Airport!
@@Excalibur_86 I was going to the Romantic Zone and caught the bus under that bridge on the Airport side, so very, very easy. Normally, I drive my car down and bring my dogs with me. One of my dogs is a PV Street dog that found me and wouldn't let go - we treasure that dog!!!! AND she's been back to PV too - we go there for the summer mos.
For taxis, it's possible they might, but in the event they don't, perhaps have google translate downloaded and show them the text. Hotels usually have english speaking staff.
Buses are awesome in PV, and a lot of fun!
Honestly we miss riding the bus there so much! Always an adventure!
