💭 Would you ever ditch hair products in exchange for water and oil? Or does your hair crave products?
i just use water and oil tbh
@@lee-jc8oq That’s what’s up
I don't use products anymore just water daily too in the shower
All I use is water, Castile soap, and acv
@@lucienArindelDomingo That’s awesome 👏
Excellent advice. Hair needs water. 💦 Spraying on water won’t do the trick to add moisture because the mist just stays on the surface then evaporates. Misting the hair with water and an citrus essential oil such as lemon, orange, or grapefruit is enough to avoid mildew/wet hair smell because citrus kills mildew or stops it from happening in the first place.
I’ve been growing mine for about 4 months and since I found this video I’ve been rinsing daily and my locs have started laying down and staying down
Love to hear it! Congrats on starting your journey :)
What kind of locs do you have
@@KeiKreatrix semi freeform started with a sponge
How’s the progress?
@@Rsalmond83 it’s definitely laying down once my hair dries I just moisturize it with a water and oil spray of tea tree oil black castor oil and a essential oil of my choosing for fragrance
use a dark colored microfiber cloth to dry your hair. like the ones you use on a car. it soaks the water right up
You gorgeous 🤷🏽♂️🥴
Years ago when I’d wear my twists for a month straight, this is what I’d do to reset my locs, they always felt and looked refreshed after. I’m starting my loc journey this Fall, so glad I found your channel ✨💛
I rinse my hair daily as well, shampooing as needed.
RINSE DAILY GANG!!!!! both sets ive had..
Loved listening to you talk about your process (helps that you’re gorgeous 🌚). Looking forward to more loc content, contemplating starting my own!
😙😙
I need to start doing this fr, my locs have been thinning and it’s alot of things I need to change with my regimen
At least you’re aware! You know what your hair needs
Beautiful lady and beautiful soul thanks for the tips it's much appreciated 🙏🏽🙌🏽💯
😁💚
This is by far the confirmation I prayed for ,,,nobody was able to ever help me understand my locs especially since I don’t twist anymore, and haven’t twisted since the very beginning,, I do exactly what you do, and kept being told by certain people that I was wrong, but my hair is growing and it is healthy and now you are confirming it. Thank you Lord God for answering my prayers.🙏🏾❤️✝️🌿☀️✨ also, this is confirmation for me to never let people knock what I feel is naturally best for me sometimes people don’t understand you and that’s OK❤
I love your locs!!!!!!
Thank you!
I wash my dreads 2-3x a week with soap and 2x a day with water the 2x a day because of course I shower twice a day
Hi Amber,
Do you use soap(even black soap) during the rinse?
Or is just get in the shower and let the water in.
And wash once a month with soap…
Also, Do you rub your hands on the hair at all.
I'm thinking that putting hands in em might untangle them or so.
I don’t understand porosity and all of that, but my hair dries really fast. I can completely wash or rinse my hair in the shower and a. Hour later (if I’m in the AC) or outside where it’s dry air, will be completely dry in no time.
Going to start rinsing more. Been using a spray bottle, but I love getting my hair and scalp wet anyhow.
How do you keep your locs from combining from getting wet everyday? Mine always try to get married when wet 😓
i just let them combine if they want because i’m freeforming. most of my locs have combined with at least one other loc 😅
Thank you for your channel. Very inspirational!
Thank you for your kind words!
My love crave moisture. I do aloe water, oil and cream once a week in the summer and twice a week in winter. Thanks for sharing this
That’s a solid routine!
Beautiful locs we’re you also rinsing daily before your locs matured?
Thank you! I rinsed from the beginning. Early on, I would saturate with a spray bottle because my hair was short enough. Then it got too long to use a spray bottle so I started using the faucet LOL
You are so beautiful, thank you for the tips im about to go on my journey soon
Damn!!! You are so beautiful
Thank you! 💚
Your locs are pretty, tfs!
Thank you!
Your Locs Are Fire
thank you!
Are they fully drying every day
Yes, they’re usually fully dry within 2-4 hours depending on the air/temperature
What do you do in the winter. I live in NYC so it's extremely cold. I don't apply heat to my hair, I have freeform locs
i apply oil to my roots and edges after washing in the winter, but that’s about it. jamaican black castor oil is my favorite for the winter
I've heard from someone that hair locks faster when it's not getting wet all the time 🤷♂️ idk why. Have you heard that too or know why it could make sense? Thank you for the nice video 🙏🏽😊
yes, i hear that all the time lol
i’ve had 2 sets of locs. the first was a “maintained” set where i retwisted frequently and only wet them when i washed once a month. this set is freeform and i started spraying/rinsing daily from the beginning.
from my experience, wetting my hair helps it tangle up more often which leads to it loc’ing faster.
this is definitely better for people who are freeforming and are not worried about keeping their roots perfectly twisted up.
also, because i started with a sponge and not coils, i was never worried about my hair uncoiling. the sponge did a decent job of tangling up each loc from the beginning.
hope that explains it well!
@@AmberLoryn yes that makes sense. I started to rinse it less after hearing it but since I also freeform I'll make it wet more often now again. Thank you very much 🙏🏽😊🧡
I live in the California desert where we have warm springs, hot summers, cool falls, and cold winters. I'm always afraid of damp hair in the winter. How do you deal with cold winters?
damp hair in cold temperature is annoying but not something i actively try to avoid. i just put up with it honestly. most times, i’m only outside in the cold for a couple minutes while walking between my car and an establishment anyways
Have you tried using cold water as well ?
How often do you wash, as opposed to rinse?
I usually wash with black soap once a month
@@AmberLoryn thanks so much for the response. I’ve been washing weekly, but plan to stretch that out. Keep posting videos. People need to know that less is more when it comes to our hair. 💖
@@erikarobinson3842 I’m sure your hair will love that! And thank you :)
Can I do it with starter freeforms?
Yes that’s how I started. Early on is where the most benefit is :)
I workout, how often should i wash?
Whatever you're comfortable with. I workout a lot too and have always washed my locs once week or every 2 weeks from the 1st day. Similar to her I wash and rinse regularly cause it promotes faster locing and cleaner hair and scalp.
I'm 11 months in my journey my locs are just under my eyebrows. Can I wet in the shower or should I use a spray bottle for now?
You can do both if you want if you don’t feel like doing a rinse you can just spray your hair but if you want a deeper rinse then use the shower
I wanna do this but I’m afraid of moldy smell
just dry it well the same way you dry after you wash your hair
@@AmberLoryn I’m thinking of getting a hooded dryer. I let my locs air dry and it takes like 2 days. I have 30 locks on semi dense hair
