    Same sis. I don't like the retwisted look but, a lot of people just don't get it. They keep asking when you're going to retwist your hair.

    i stopped brushing my hair september of 2023, almost 5 months ago now, i highly recommended everyone with or without locs to use kaolin, bentonite or any type of CLAY to wash their hair instead of manmade products, it's life changing

      @@theblaqklionprobably 80-110. I said it was interesting because I’ve seen people with 65 locs and it looks thinner, flatter and more scalpy whereas hers look full. Neither one is bad especially if it’s healthy hair, but it just interesting to see how density plays a big part in how your locs turn out.

    I semi freeform as well. I started my locs and only retwisted 2 times this year every 6 months. Before that I stopped retwisting for a whole year. But I love your locs ! They are so thick and full and pretty

    I do feel like the less you re-twist your hair the thicker/ fuller your hair could become. I had my locs for about a year in a half, I only went to the salon 1st lol

    I agree with you. Unfortunately, my hair grows outside the loc and thins at the root if I don’t do some kind of maintenance. Basically, I have to braid and rap loose hairs around the loc to prevent breakage.

    I stopped going to the stylist after the pandemic and decided to fully do my locs myself since my roots are sensitive I don’t want to have retwist that would pull on my hair. My stylist at the time would use a comb to retwist.
    So I just wash my locs every three weeks and do a light retwist with flaxseed gel I would make and keep it moving.

    • @dorcasfordjour7232
      @dorcasfordjour7232 5 місяців тому

      Same here, my extra sensitive scalp made me loc my hair coz I didn’t want the hassle of having to travel between regions to get my hair done by the only stylist who could be gentle with my hair. Locing my hair took 11 hours, it takes an agonizing 4 hours to retwist every month and I absolutely hate it. One time, this loctitian went to town on my scalp. I could feel my swollen scalp breathing for days after the fact. Annoyingly, she charged three times the fee because she claimed my love were “a lot”, worse, she used a crocheting pin. I had to hold myself back from strangling her for her lack of remorse after literally trying to uproot my hair from its roots. Safe to say, hers will be the last place I will ever go for a retwist, in fact, I rather chop off my locs than be caught dead there.
      I love the video and will try it out coz I am tired of the strange hands in my hair every other month.

    Great video! Very helpful and informative for me, as I look to also go semi-freeform for 2024. I’m almost 4 years in. Earlier in my journey, I used to retwist almost every week; over time, that slid to every 2-3 weeks. I think I’m ready to try every 6-8 weeks (eventually, maybe longer). Like you, my scalp absolutely cannot take a lot of tension. I do my own styles maybe every 3 months and then have to undo them in a couple of days! Lol 😂 Or sometimes the same day. A lot of what you said in this video definitely resonated with me, my preferences, and how I’m caring for my locs at this stage in my journey. Thank you for posting ❤

    I have 67 locs. I consider you my loc twin lol. I have 4c thick, low density hair. I get so many compliments of how thick and healthy my locs are. I am only two years in and started off with two strands. Boy, does the two years make a difference. My hair was shoulder length when i started my locs. I can see my locs looking very similar to yours in another 2 years. I still have a little two strand pattern on my ends. If I could do it all over again, I would have went with coils. It takes forever for two strand starters to fully loc. I am loving the journey. I get a retwist every 3 months. I really don't like the fresh retwist look either. And I don't like alot of tension on my scalp.

    So, I just reattached my old locs back to my starter loc and i was told not wash for at least 1 month so rhat it wont fall out... I dont how true... But i do knoe that for my starter loc, i washed it everyday and as a result i got quick undergrowth, it became super thick and full of life. Whats your advice about waiting for a month to wash my hair?
