    Just gorgeous! I love your minimalist approach. Everyone should watch this video. We really don’t need to be doing the most. Our locs know what they need to do. New subscriber here. I am on my 3rd set of locs in 23 years. This is the first set I have started myself. I free-parted and interlocked, and that’s it. No retwisting, no gels or oils or conditioners. This is my absolute favorite set. Your approach is, hands down the most sensible, practical, organic, and beautiful.

      Thank you! This is my second and I agree with you that our locs definitely know what they need. They thrive with basic nutrients and little too no manipulation. Nice to see someone else share a similar journey 💚

    I started my fully freeform loc journey in 2020 March. So you can just imagine how hectic and frustrating it's been. However, 2 years in I have learnt to fall in love with my hair and loving the results so far. Lots of wicks and congos to deal with. Love your journey and your videos❤️

    Love your easy no fuss style 👍🏽. I cut my locs and I'm restarting after 10 years of locs. Praying to start locing again in 3 days time. This time I'll go proper semi free form starting with the 2 strand twists making sure each loc has a solid base. I want to keep it simple. There's so much unnecessary info out there u could get real confused 😕 and even damage your locs

    I think I hear it’s beautiful. Thanks for sharing with us.
    I would retwist because of the opinions of others. Then I realized “it’s my head of hair “ I haven’t been retwisting for past seven or eight months and I love it.
    My biggest concern is drying time, However I do rinse. I do not use many products (Just a very tiny bit all over my whole length after showering and not every day or even every week.) Just water.
    My scalp is less itchy and has low/no smell. I also drink a lot of water.
    You are magnificent in every way that I can see, thank you once more for sharing with us.

    Hello, can I ask.. do you 'pop' your locs at the roots? Or do you just leave the roots to do their own thing? I'm worried that one half of my head will have locs marrying and the other won't, so I'll look uneven.
    And help welcome.

    How do you keep your new growth from turning into a huge fro while your not re twisting yours still looks low but a lot of times when I go a while with out re twisting it becomes a small Afro

    • @AmberLoryn
      @AmberLoryn  2 роки тому +4

      I rinse my hair almost daily. When your hair gets wet it tangles up more and more. So my new growth locs up fast before its able to get long. Hope that makes sense!

    • @IAMCalVin
      @IAMCalVin 2 роки тому

      Definitely & one more question then I’m done
      I’ve been growing my locs for 4 years now & they are pretty skinny compared to how I want them I was thinking about going to a stylist to get them combined or what do you suggest ?

    • @AmberLoryn
      @AmberLoryn  2 роки тому +1

      I’d recommend that. Since you’re 4 years in they won’t combine as easily as they would if they were less mature. A stylist might be able to combine them for you in a way that keeps them together.

  • @GeorgeG472
    @GeorgeG472 2 роки тому +1

    I just started growing my hair. I'm not to the point of even twisting yet. Do you have any tips on just getting your hair to grow faster?

    • @AmberLoryn
      @AmberLoryn  2 роки тому +5

      Keep it clean by washing it when you feel like it’s dirty, or once a month. I use black soap because it cleans very well and has oils that are nourishing. Afterwards, use an oil like olive oil or Jamaican Black castor oil on your roots to give your hair nutrients. Less products will do a surprisingly good job of letting your locs do their thing.

    • @AmberLoryn
      @AmberLoryn  2 роки тому +3

      Thank you! Honestly, the roots will never fully loc up when you have freeform locs. It takes a few month for your hair to loc and it takes a few months for your hair to grow a few inches. So by the time your current roots loc, you'll have new roots lol but seeing maturity in your locs after 5 months is good. They are doing just fine!

    • @AmberLoryn
      @AmberLoryn  2 роки тому +2

      I’ve personally never brushed my locs before. To me, semi freeform is about low manipulation, and I haven’t had any issues with my hair locking up or staying clean since starting them. But if you feel like brushing has been a great benefit for your locs, then I’d say keep that routine!

    • @socialoner3717
      @socialoner3717 2 роки тому +1

      brushes are made to detangle hair, so if you're trying to tangle & lock your hair then eventually your locs will most likely begin to thin if you keep brushing them.

  • @MsHardy-rn9oc

    Can You start free form locs on fine hair ?

    • @AmberLoryn
      @AmberLoryn  2 роки тому

      Yes, of course! Freeform locs just require that you allow them to tangle up and oftentimes create their own parts. If your hair is fine it may be good that they create larger parts for strength
