    What made/makes you anxious about starting locs? For me, it was definitely the washing process. With my first set of locs, I always worried about them unraveling and not looking nice. When I started freeforming with this second set, I learned how to wash and my anxieties went away!

      my biggest thing is the confidence part. i know it’s not good to retwist too often, so i’d have to get comfortable not always looking “clean” or “well kept” but i also think that is an exciting challenge that i will embark on one day. for now though, i can’t give up my twists, braids, and fro 😂😭

      @AmberLoryn  2 роки тому +1

      @@r0ughdraft The interlocking method might be good for you in between twists! You can touchup the roots by pulling the loc thru itself to tame the new growth lol

      I’ve had my locs for almost three weeks now and I love them! They’re small and I have 148 of them, I’m nervous that they might be too small and I might have to combine them later. But I love your locs and I want to only retwist once every four months so I just wash twice a week and separated them. Can’t wait for them to grow! And quick question, do you oil your locs or no? Cause other semi freedomers I watch don’t and I’m not sure if I should or not.

    • @AmberLoryn
      @AmberLoryn  2 роки тому +1

      @@CheyenneRaine Congrats on starting your journey! You might be surprised with how they thicken up after maturing, but combining them yourself is always an option.
      I use oil very rarely because my hair seems to do fine without it, and I wash with black soap, which is made of multiple oils and nutrient-rich ingredients.
      Washing once a month works for me. If you’re washing multiple times a week, it may be drying your hair out depending on your hair type. Oil after washing can be good for nutrients, so if you feel like your hair needs that, definitely listen to it!

    Your locs have been started so simple, low mantainance but are so beautiful & unique, I like the colour ( suits your skin tone, do you do some hair styles?

    Question, in the first stages of ur locs, how did you deal with frizz, love your vids btw! Keep it up! ❤️

    • @AmberLoryn
      @AmberLoryn  2 роки тому +6

      Thank you! Honestly, I just embraced the frizz lol but I can imagine that a bit of oil on your locs would help lower the amount of frizz. It’s likely that with freeform/ semi freeform that you’ll deal with frizz at least for the first few months. But I still have frizz to this day LOL

      @AmberLoryn  2 роки тому

      I only used the sponge one time to start the locs. Every time i washed or rinsed my locs, they fell which is what I wanted them to do so that was all good for me. I always used a towel to thoroughly dry after washing and rinsing

    I've been usin a twist sponge to section off my 3c/4a hair and wanted to just wash and separate. I'd say I have a sensitive scalp and try to wash at least once a week, but more so every 3 days. Should I give my hair a few weeks to do it's thing? Or can I go ahead and wash my hair and not expect them to completely restart

    • @AmberLoryn
      @AmberLoryn  Рік тому +1

      since you’ve used the sponge your hair should stay in its sections pretty well. they may try to combine but that’s about it 👌🏽

  • @Josnypes

    I did a sponge method also but I feel I sponged to the point where it's too small..should I just not sponge for a while and allow hair to combine? @Amber Loryn

    • @AmberLoryn
      @AmberLoryn  2 роки тому +2

      Yes a lot of my locs would be much smaller if I did not let them combine. I only recommend sponging once to get them started then letting them do what they want

    I've been sponging my hair four 4 days. Me(being dumb)put oil on my scalp without any type of water. At this point my hair was separated in their own parts plus I had finger twisted them. I decided to just give up on semi freeforms and focus on the health of my hair. After I washed my hair I noticed that even though the baby freeforms were wet and soft they were still in the same parts(of course it looked messy)for now I think imma just let my hair do its own thing and not sponge it or nothing
