Was watching the vid, and then I saw my self. "Hey, that was me!" moment. Lol. Good stuff! Props to Parrot for fixing the waypoint progression. Real smooth transitions there, its beautiful. Thanks and props to you GI for spearheading this update.
Nice video , and yes parrot does listen , i contacted them also , and i also stated in your comments on that video , that we needed a custom white balance , and they put that in this update as well , great job parrot , keep up the great work thanks.
Everything was automatic based on the point of interest, so the camera automatically points to the POI and then back to level when headed to another waypoint. You can even set the camera to point to the POI as it flies to the next waypoint or you can set it to point in a different direction. I forget what episode it is, but I have a video on how to setup a flight plan.
Thanks. I have used over a year my anafi flying manually with difficulty, no progressive joysticks, and finally I decided to start using flightplan. But even with smooth transition turned On, the anafi stops on each waypoint. I dont know why
Hmm...make sure you've updated to the most recent firmware. Parrot actually did correct most of the issues with the stopping at every waypoint, but sounds like it still may not be perfect. Been too cold here lately to go out flying much, but once I get a good day I'll go out and do some testing again.
Yes I have the last firmware and app. I suspect that is something related with the angle between lines, if less than 90 degrees it stops, if more than 90 degrees is does smooth. I will test it today, creating more waypoints when changing course or orbiting a POI. But it is the way to go with this Anafi, automatic course.
Is there a way to program terrain like with the phantom? I used to program flights a lot, but I need to know I am not going to hit a mountain. Our terrain is rugged here. I will check around to see if you can bring it into google maps in 3D. Love my ANAFI. More video coming.
Wow, sounds like flying in your area can be a bit precarious. I'd be nervous flying outside my line of sight. There is an application out there that allows you to build flight plans on your PC, but the name is not coming to me right now. I would err on the conservative side though and survey the area you will be flying in first and only setup the flight plan for within your line of sight. That way you'll see the mountain before the drone does.
Hi! Great reviews. Just got into the whole Drone market in the last few days; bought the Mavic Mini and then the Parrot Anafi Thermal. Do you know if the Parrot Anafi Thermal has a Propeller Cage or Guard that is well-made and protective? The 360 propeller guard for the Mavic Mini is pretty great, so I'm looking for something like that or even more protective, if possible. Let me know if there's anything out there that fits the Anafi Thermal, please :) Keep up the great content.
Thanks for the update on this brother. I've been in touch with Parrot about this problem for quite some time, even sending them footage and flight plans, as requested. They were saying there was no problem. Now I have to try Flight Plan again to see if they corrected the other issue I brought to there attention - automatically changing camera angles from POI during a flight plan. If you have the camera point to the POI, then change it back to 0 degrees after it passes over the POI, the camera wouldn't respond. I would have to put in a negative value in order to bring the camera back up. Thanks for keeping us informed Inspector😁👍
Hey Allen. I've talked to a few guys now that have had a variety of issues like that. There's definitely something to how the camera reacts to multiple POIs and changing altitudes it seems. I haven't run into yet.
I tried out FPV with the BB2 goggles...I've never been a fan of Parrot FPV, but I think I would use it on a super sunny day. I still haven't found a good sunshade.
I hate to say it, but I don’t think they actually fixed it. I just recently did a flight plan and it’s pausing at each waypoint again: Why I'm Still Flying the Parrot ANAFI | Episode 13 ua-cam.com/video/-bLpIpjDIRY/v-deo.html
Thanks for the video....Kudos to Parrot for continuing to enhance FlightPlan. LIke you I think Flight Plan is one of the Anafi's most useful features and one of my favorite features of the Anafi. The fact that Parrot listens to their customers and makes changes to their software so quickly is HUGE...it's the kind of thing that garners LOYALTY from their existing customers and future sales in the their products. THANK YOU PARROT!!!!!! Now having said that I wish you would have done the same exact Flight Plan that you did in your earlier video (the longer one) so that we could have seen a side by side of the two Flight Plans (before and after the fixes)...From my conversations with Parrot Support the pauses in Flight Plan are/were caused when significant changes in the drones orientation, camera angle, speed and/or altitude are required between successive/adjacent Waypoints (e.g., changes due to different Points of Interest that one sets in their Flight Plan that require ). So being able to see a side by side (before and after) comparison of the same exact flight plan is truly the only way to see how effective the software fixes were in addressing these "pregnant" pauses. Just curious...... did you not save your prior flight plan and it's associated video where you saw the pauses?
Nope, didn't save it, but there have been a variety of issues noted with flight plans out on the various forums. That wasn't the only flight plan I tried either. I tried another one while I was in Cleveland and it was mostly just long straight stretches between waypoints with minimal turns and only two POIs. It still paused at each waypoint. I am convinced Parrot made improvements and so far, I'm happy with flight plans once again. I can live with any remaining 'quirks' if it continues to perform like it has. But, by all means, conduct your own testing and share.
@@GadgetInspector Thanks for replying. Bummer you didn't save the prior flight plan. As a note I have some flight plans and the associated videos with the prior software version where it seemed that I was able to smooth out/eliminate some of the pauses by adjusting POI's to avoid significant orientation changes between successive waypoints. I also have some saved Flight Plans with noticeable pauses in them so I plan to re-run these plans to see if those pauses are now gone as a result of the updates...Re "sharing" I'd be happy to share my results. Unfortunately I don't have a UA-cam channel yet. Keep in mind I use quite a POIs (~10) in my flight but I do have progressive on. All I can think is maybe Parrot hasn't been fixed Flight Plan completely. Additionally it would appear that a new problem was introduced...Now my flight plan is chopped into two separate video files (5:35min & 36secs). Don't think I'll do 10, but I'll try maybe 3 or 4 POIs next time and see how it goes. The 2 I did in this video performed just how I remembered on the Bebop 2. I'll probably move on from this topic though....getting a little worn out with it now.

This is another reason I am trying to convince my company’s fleet manager to switch over to Parrot products. As much as I like dji, I think there are other capable alternatives that can yield the same results if not better.
Mine use to work great, but after the last two updates, it now pauses at each way point. I have “automatic progressive course” turned on. I contacted Parrot about this two different times and they just keep responding by saying that “this is designed by default.” Really frustrating!
That’s unfortunate. I’m actually on my way out right now to use flight plan for an idea I have. I’ll definitely keep an eye on whether mine is doing it as well.
I did the same flight plan 4 times for an upcoming video I'm doing, and every single time the drone paused at each waypoint. So disappointing. Footage still came out really nice, but progressive course is definitely not working like it should.
@@GadgetInspector Thanks for the feedback. I’m glad to know that I’m not doing something wrong, but I’m really sorry to hear that you’re having the same trouble. Hopefully they will fix it soon in an update.
GI, I have never tried the waypoints on my Anafi. My question is will it continue to fly the course on its own if it loses signal? I live in an area with a lot of wifi interference. I have been scared to try the waypoints for fear I would lose the drone. Thanks!
I have not tested this with the Anafi, but I have with the Bebop 2. Should be the same. If the Anafi loses connection with your controller it will finish the flight plan if it determines that it has enough battery. Otherwise, it will self-initiate RTH. With all of that said, I recommend only doing flight plans within your line of sight. That way, if you lose connection you could move closer to try to reestablish and worse-case, it will just complete the flight plan where you can still see it.
I have lost complete signal (duration of loss was ~3mins) on multiple occasions when flying a "mission" (via FlightPlan) and the Anafi does in fact finish the flight plan even with a loss of signal. And as Gadget Inspector states the Anafi will abandon the "mission" and RTH if the battery get's too low. A friend of mine actually tested that capability and it did RTH when the battery level got too low, however, the algorithm for determining how much battery is required to successfully complete the RTH is not perfect. It's supposed to take wind speed and distance from home into consideration when calculating the battery level to initiate RTH battery but again it's not perfect. In my friends case his Anafi almost made it back successfully but the algorithm hadn't accounted for the fact that my friends RTH altitude was set to 250 feet...so ascending and descending to/from that height consumes a lot of battery power...and his Anafi ran out of battery power on RTH on descent at home position at 15 feet in the air so it was not damaged when it hit the ground...so be aware and fly a little on the conservative side. My longest mission to date on a fully charged battery has been 17.5 minutes long and I believe I had 30% battery level on landing...so I could have made the mission even longer...I definitely wouldn't make the mission any longer than 20 mins in estimated length and probably only do that on days where there is little to no wind. And as you probably know the FlightPlan will give you an estimated duration in time to complete a mission. So far I've found that estimate to be fairly close..within 30 seconds on non-windy days. Happy mission planning! BTW, I wish Parrot would document all of these fail safe scenarios in their documentation....ideally in one section of the manual.
Great review and test my Brother. That was impressive that you caught an issue with the waypoint and the company responded and corrected the issue. 👍🏽😎
Hello, first of all thank you for your informative videos on Anafi. I tried to create a similar flight plan, it is not possible in version 1.6.2. I have set 8 waypoints and 2 POIs. Then I wanted to look at the flight time in the editor, the app crashes. Have you heard of the problem? Greetings Wolfgang from Germany
Hmm, was this after the most recent firmware update? I haven't done it yet, but sometimes folks have issues right after an update (usually on Android). We're supposed to get decent weather tomorrow so maybe I'll update and go out and test it out. Also, see if there's anyone else having this problem on the best Parrot forum out there: www.parrotpilots.com.
Hello Gadget Inspector thank you for responding so quickly. There was an update the day before yesterday, but the problems have remained the same. If not every waypoint is linked to a POI, errors will occur.
The anafi is looking better and better to me. Especially with dji price increases. I’m still not close to getting one, other financial obligations 😩 hate being an adult!! Thanks for the video, great as always!!
I have thought about that and as the old saying goes “takes money to make money” I’m the only income at the moment so my hobby has been put on hold. So I just watch your videos and live through your vids!! Thanks 🙏
I just got the Anafi last weekend and immediately did the updates. I made a flight plan and ran it yesterday. I noticed at each waypoint the drone comes to a stop and then continues to the next one much like was described in the video before the bug was fixed. In my case it seems the bug isn't fixed yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I do notice from time to time that the lock goes wacky. Planning on showing this in an upcoming video. Might be something else Parrot needs to fix. Question: are you using an ND filter when this happens? I need to test whether it happens without a filter mounted.
Thanks for that video, and yes Parrot is listening 👂 to their customers. I did the new update and loving it, also the height restriction is off. Hopefully no one do shit and cause we the law abiding citizens heartache!!!! Keep those video coming I doing a range test video later..
I LOVE my Anafi..in fact I just bought a new one..I didn't even argue or fight with Parrot to replace my old one. My old one had a sudden motor shut off and died drowning in Lake Superior last July. No idea why...all I can say is I will ONLY be flying on my Android tablet with no cell or Bluetooth from now on...I was flying on my iPhone with the last Anafi...so I shall blame Apple. BTW... Parrot app works fantastic on the Huawei media pad
Gadget Inspector No problem...no idea why it happened. You are correct about interference...I didn’t have my Bluetooth turned off..or was in airplane mode on my iPhone...I’m certain interference caused it to suddenly loose power...or maybe the last Parrot software update last July??? Or maybe the “new” battery from Best Buy I was using at the time...yeah..that crash cost me seriously $$! And NO you cannot replace the flight controller on these things. The gimbal is paired with the FC that came with your drone...yeah tried this too. Got to know the guts of the Anafi rather well. If you know anyone needing an Anafi transmitter I will send it to them for free.
Thanks for another great video. In some respects, it appears that the flight plan behavior has improved. But transitions in the vertical direction still do not appear to have improved. I need to get the new version of flight plan tested as soon as possible.
It performs a little differently at POIs--a little bit longer hesitation--which I'm ok with (that may be what you were seeing) but it's still much much smoother than it was before.
@@GadgetInspector Have tried my torture flight plan here today and can see you still don't have to turn too much over a waypoint before the speed goes down. But it got better without being good in the new edition. And unfortunately, I still can't switch between two POIs at different heights without the camera is switching in the vertical direction in under a second. That's why I still have to use Litchi and my dinosaur of an DJI drone if I have to make a Flight Plan where the camera has to change in vertical height. Its is a shame.
@@GadgetInspector No have not tried Flight Plan with Bebop 2 as I do not own one or know someone who has one. In the moment the weather has turned bad again with rain and strong winds (the remnants of the hurricane you had in America last week), so finding a time to try a new made Flight Plan to double-check is a challenge. The error in vertical direction with POI I guess also exists on Bebop 2.

Would you recommend the Anafi in 2021? Does Parrot still support the drone?
Yep, I still highly recommend. Parrot is still supporting. They just pushed out a firmware update not too long ago.
Thanks.
Build a UA-cam channel. That's the only way I could afford this hobby. Hoping to start doing commercial work soon.
I have thought about that and as the old saying goes “takes money to make money” I’m the only income at the moment so my hobby has been put on hold. So I just watch your videos and live through your vids!! Thanks 🙏
My flight plans still tend to pause at each waypoint. Any suggestions?
Got more details than that?
I just got the Anafi last weekend and immediately did the updates. I made a flight plan and ran it yesterday. I noticed at each waypoint the drone comes to a stop and then continues to the next one much like was described in the video before the bug was fixed. In my case it seems the bug isn't fixed yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Cole Ludlow Did you turn on Automatic Progressive Course?
Is anafi video is geo-tagged or not? Thanks
Yes it is.
@@GadgetInspector thanks for reply! Can you help me how to extract srt file from it or get the geo-tagged logs.
The anafi is only getting better
Thank God. Gotta break out my Anafi and do that firmware update. Thanks and Cheers.
Did u try follow me locked, cause mine has my drone going up and down...
I do notice from time to time that the lock goes wacky. Planning on showing this in an upcoming video. Might be something else Parrot needs to fix. Question: are you using an ND filter when this happens? I need to test whether it happens without a filter mounted.
@@GadgetInspector No filter on their..The drone lock follow goes up down up down and it give bad video image..
Your videos are always so well done!!
Thanks Slam.
Thanks for that video, and yes Parrot is listening 👂 to their customers. I did the new update and loving it, also the height restriction is off. Hopefully no one do shit and cause we the law abiding citizens heartache!!!! Keep those video coming I doing a range test video later..
Yeah you're right, we still have to be responsible.
Nice work Parrot!
Indeed.
Sorry about the crash. Knock on wood I'm almost at 150-flights. I'll probably be changing my props soon.
You should do some of the enterprise applications like survey, pics4D capture, pics2D, etc
Great Channel!!!!!
👍😀👍
Was some beautiful flight footage!
Ok, sounds like they didn't fix everything then. Question: did you try flight plan with the Bebop 2? Did it have the same issues?
@@GadgetInspector No have not tried Flight Plan with Bebop 2 as I do not own one or know someone who has one.
In the moment the weather has turned bad again with rain and strong winds (the remnants of the hurricane you had in America last week), so finding a time to try a new made Flight Plan to double-check is a challenge. The error in vertical direction with POI I guess also exists on Bebop 2.
Great job buddy 👍👍 👍
What's up Ray!
You have something for everyone here - eh?
I see you settled for An-a-fi ...lol...instead of a-na-fi
LOL!!! Didn't realize I was consistent in this video. I'm still not so sure I'm saying it right 😂.
Great! Love Anafi
Well don’t put too much faith in the flight plans ! I just did a video on how I lost mine , there’s always chances of loosing satellite connections and if it’s a long flight your in trouble
Yeah, I talked about that in my Bebop 2 flight plan vid. Long flight plans are a bit precarious. I try to keep mine relatively short and within line of sight, but I've always been a bit paranoid like that.
Gadget Inspector yea just when it happens it’s an un real feeling like wow that just happened!
It definitely sucks...such a helpless sick feeling. Maybe reach out to Parrot and see if they can pull your flight logs.
Gadget Inspector yes in the process my friend ! I’d be happy if they can tell where it lost the gps signal so I can go retrieve it ! Thanks for your concern happy flying
Thanks 🌴🍉 jocina Kujna 🍉🍉
Thanks for watching Jocina.
Pics4D react too
In the Thumbnail, is that your girlfriend or wife? If so, DUDE!!!! ;)
