Watch your altitude, i err'd on the side of caution and flew at 10M ! mistake, i crashed in a field, soft landing thankfully. My 2nd flight was a a LOT higher, perfect. Try it buddy, its good fun, just remember, safety in height. Good luck 👍🛰
Glad you're finding it useful. I made this series for folks like you. Let me know if you have any questions, it might spark a video idea for me. Also check out parrotpilots.com.
Let me just say that you actually know how to present information in a pleasing and understandable fashion. Good production and exceptionally well produced audio. Thanks
Very comprehensive. I will keep this one in my library :) ... Have you used Vysor?? In Chrome? .. you can mirror your phone on the computer so you can use your mouse, keyboard etc to create the flight plan. Makes it tons easier.
@@RonaldBrown59 : I used it on my Bebop when the Flight Plan was on trial. I have yet to buy it for the Anafi. The Anafi is $159CDN for the Flight Plan but for the Bebop it is $30 CDN.
I'm thinking about buying an Anafi and this has swung it for me. Thank you so much for the expert tutorial and in depth look at this really valuable feature! Great video.
Glad it helped; it really is a good little drone. I have about 5 or 6 vids on the Anafi so far and will be posting another soon covering photo bracketing.
Just going through this video (after having seen your flight plan execution video...yep I'm watching them in reverse)...I have a couple of questions: 1) Do you set your device (phone) to fly in airplane mode? I've had the App present a message suggesting that I switch to airplane mode in response to interference issues while I was flying. So I'm assuming that one should always fly in airplane mode to minimize interference. Thoughts? 2) If you do fly in airplane mode do you download the Google map area where you will be flying to your device (phone) in advance of going to Flight plan destination....I'm assuming you'd have to do that because otherwise I think the maps wouldn't be available when flying in airplane mode so at minimum you wouldn't have the map available when you start the flight plan...or maybe the flight plan wouldn't work at all because you didn't download the map? Thoughts? 3) If you don't elect to have the Anafi land at the last flight plan location (waypoint) will the Anafi just hover at the height of the last waypoint waiting for instruction? If you do set it to land on the last waypoint, I'm assuming that it won't completely land but that it will hover a few feet off the ground much like it does in RTH mode? It seemed to "completely" land in your Flight plan execution video but that may be because you hit the land button in the app or on the controller. Please confirm. Thanks
Thanks. Worth every commercial i had to click through. Can't wait to see the vid where you execute this flight plan and see how it turns out. Drama. Drum-roll please.
Awesome tutorial! The Anafi Flight Plan looks as full featured as the Litchi app for DJI quads. I have played with it just one time, nothing to the extent you did here. I can't wait to see part 2 when the Anafi flies the mission.
Thank you for your efforts at showcasing this drone. I'm considering getting one because of flight planning and the 180-degree vertical camera capabilities.
Great tutorial as usual! Thank you. What happens if you add let us say 2 photos to your flight plan while the Anafi is filming? Would you get 3 separate video clips and 2 photos or would you get a single continuous video and 2 photos. Keep up the great work.
I would think it would be just like if you were flying manually. You have to stop the video in order to take a photo, so it would be the same in the flight plan. The overview page will show you exactly what the drone will be doing at each waypoint.
Ah... this I have been extensively using on my Bebop2Power. You are right, Bebop2 ( and even Bebop1, when I still had one ) goes on to complete the flight plan even at loss of signal. Something to add though, and is just my personal take, I always make it a point though to have my landing spot on or close to where I took off. I dont wanna be running to the landing spot should I lose my signal to the drone and could not reestablish it, which happened to me before. I am quite sure the Anafi can go on and complete the flight plan even without signal, or that would be a downgrade right? Can't wait for your next vid to confirm that.
The main point I was trying to make is to make sure you have enough battery to complete your flight plan. The Anafi will complete the plan and of course has not been downgraded, but it has a low-battery RTH failsafe that the BB2 didn't have. That's the part I haven't tested and what's important here. If it's low on battery will it RTH during a flight plan. The BB2 could not do that and I think that' how a lot of guys lost their drones. And yes, where you take off and land is very important.
I got your point. Doing a flight plan with a duration outside your battery range is bad. Good luck on testing if the RTH failsafe kicks in during a flight plan. That will be a great addition to an already great flight plan feature if it does.
I wonder what is the minimum possible distance between waypoints setting up a Flight Plan. I suppose there are limits to altitude changes between these minimized waypoints. I live in a pretty dense urban environment... Thanks
If you zoom in while creating the flight plan, you should be able to keep your waypoints fairly close. Are you talking like 20 feet or something? You want to be careful about huge swings in altitude and direction though. I try to keep that in mind with every flight plan. If I know I want to get a rising or falling shot I makes sure its over a good enough distance. I say be as conservative as possible with flight plan; a LOT of people lose their Parrot drones when automating flights.
So it looks like you can program all the anafi's functions including getting the camera to point straight up during flight plan execution EXCEPT the zoom function... is that right?
Is your set altitude based off of your take of point? Like if you take off from a hill with your height set at 100 feet and then you circle around the hill, will the height be based off of the top of the hill, not the area around it where the drone happens to be flying.??
Altitude is based off of where you launch. Wherever that is, altitude starts at zero. Even if you’re at 1,000 feet above sea level, when you launch it starts at zero feet. So, you have to be very careful when you setup flight plans that you know what altitude you need to set the ANAFI at.
@@GadgetInspector Is there a way to download the flight plan app to your computer, generate a plan, and then save it and load it to the phone. Seems like that would be a bit easier than setting it up on the phone screen. BTW, I followed your instructions and made up a simple flight plan and everything went just fine. Trying to figure a way to make the final way point right on top of the take off point so basically one could set up the drone to land once reaching the last way point. I just made it close and brought the drone in manually, but it would be kind of nice to just have it return to where it took off from. Maybe it's possible, but every time I touched close to the first point it just wanted to edit that point instead of creating a new one. That is why I would like to set things up on my laptop, I think I could be more accurate with a larger screen and a mouse pointer than my fat fingers.
Thank you for your video. I would like to report that I have created a web page that greatly simplifies the creation of a flight plan for Parrot Anafi and allows you to perform operations that are not present in FF6. For example, rotating the flight plan or moving it to a new position.

Hi i made a flight plan on a descent trail a set the heights that i wanted on way points but the drone instead of maintaining the heights that i set keeping gaining altitude, at the end of flight plan it was 30 meters above the height that it supposed to be. Do you have any experience in a situation like that, did i do something wrong? Thanks!
I'm not sure about that one. It really shouldn't be changing altitude on its own. But....if for example waypoint 1 is at 100 feet and waypoint 2 is at 200 feet, the drone will gradually climb to 200 feet as it flies from 1 to 2.
@@GadgetInspector thanks for the answer but it is just the opposite.. The first wp is 10 ft the second is at 6 ft plus is on a descent route (mtb trail) but the drone reacts the opposite way is adding the next 6 ft to the first 10 ft as is going to wp 2
Yep. The app provides a map showing the last known location that the drone was connected and allows you to turn on a beacon that beeps so you can find the drone easier while searching for it. Thankful I’ve never had to use it but glad it’s there if I do.
