Was waiting for this, thanks Aaron!
Glad to help Tomer!!
Hello ! I watched so many reviews before buying a new bag. This one convinced me sir ! My new travel bag is scheduled to arrive today, can't wait to see it, although after watching this I feel I already know it. Keep it up !
Glad we could help! Please let us know what you think about the bag after you test it out for a few weeks
So I’ve been using it everyday since it arrived a month ago, mostly as a work and gym bag. It’s basically just amazing for a guy who is out of the house 16 hours a day. The material is tough, it holds all my tech gear (including my way too big 17’ office laptop), my morning smoothie, my coffee, gym clothes, my salt athletic anti stink shoe bag, etc.. It’s taken rain, long walks, been thrown around and it still looks new! As for the logos… u don’t notice them after a few days 😂. I’m now shopping for a sling… oh man it’s tough.. thanks again!
@@jfchevrier15 so glad you are loving the bags! I think this brand is going to be really big in a few years - you are one of the early adopters for sure
Wow, I’m first?! Sweet! 🥳 Seriously though…really appreciate Symple’s values and fabric choices and design language, but the bag doesn’t exactly hit my buttons. Kinda a lot of branding. Which I don’t normally care about, but start to when over-done. And would want a carry experience friendlier for my back relative to carry capacity (though the shoulder straps just look super comfortable).
Totally get where you are coming from but yes it’s a really nice bag and those shoulder straps are DAMN comfy 🫠
Great review! Just recieved mine today (ordered it 2 days ago) and they definitely resolved some of your critiques in this current iteration. Most of the branding stayed the same but they changed the color of the white logos and white zipper stitching to a dark grey that blends in with the material. They also removed the holographic patch on that interior tech pocket. They moved the magnetic key clip to the opposite side of pocket next to the elastic cable management loops which should reduce that dangle issue when opening the bag. They made the sternum straps removable and added a dangle stopper. My 32oz (1 L) wide-mouth Nalgene fits in the side pocket perfectly so I guess they made it bigger! Also the duffel strap comes with the bag. It's a little too large to be used as an EDC but I bought it more for One Bag traveling abroad and some domestic weekend trips. I hope that helps anyone who was thinking of getting it :)
thanks so much for those updates!
Thank you for sharing!
Would it work as a personal item?
@@itsbklol depends on the airline, I'd say 50/50 shot
Thank you so very very much for your video 😊.
Glad you found it helpful!!
I didn't know they have backpacks. I thought they are surf equipment brands. Looks nice for Asia surf trip!!! Thanks Aaron
Surf equipments AND backpacks - best of both worlds :)
Great review, this bag looks really nice! How do you think this would do as both EDC and Travel?
Currently using my AER TP small as a hybrid style bag, and I also have a Knack series2 medium which I carried for a while.
Thank you! This bag is too big for EDC but the SYMPL Weekender will be more in line with what you are looking for - review coming next week!
A-A-Ron, great review! You mentioned sliding this under an airline seat, will this fit under an airplane seat! Thanks as always brother!
Thanks my man! Really depends on the airline. Larger/international flights you have a chance, but budget airlines I think is less likely
If they had the zipper by the key holder zip in the other direction you could put them in the pocket and zip it mostly closed.
💯
Wow this backpack looks great! Lots of great features and pockets. I do agree on the branding though. I would take a black sharpie to all the external branding.
Yea it’s a really impressive brand! We are reviewing their smaller backpack The Weekender in a few days - be sure to keep an eye out 💪🏾
They try to be super "minimal" but then spray their branding all over the place. The side-by-side branding in the mesh pockets, one of them being RGB really got me. This looks like it's branded towards like 19 year olds.
@@roseforeuropa agreed that their is some room for improvement in their branding - the bags great tho!
@@Nomads.Nation This is definitely one of the nicest looking urban/minimalist backpacks I've ever seen. Reminds me of a sexier version of Black Ember's Citadel.
@@roseforeuropa great looking and functional!
Would love to see a review of the 2022 Patagonia Mini MLC 26L and the 45L - I think they go well in the same category.
I’ll add it to our list - thanks for the rec!
Nice
❤️
This is the first time I hear of Sympl, went to visit their website and saw their weekender backpack, I wonder if you would consider making a review of that backpack in the future?
Already shot it - should be live in a week 💪🏾
Any rec's for a lighter backpack of this size? I love the Aer Travel Pack 3 35L, the Peak Design Travel Bag 30 - 45L and the Pakt 35L...but all of those bags are 4.1 - 4.5lbs. I currently have the Nomatic 40L (a nice 3.42lbs) but want something that's better made. Sympl is the lightest one I've found so far.
Thoughts?
ULA Dragonfly is the go-to light travel bag but it’s so in demand that it’s always out of stock. Aside from that, the Minaal Carry On 3.0 is 3 lbs
Hey @Nomads.Nation can the important sections of the backpack be locked? Like the main and laptop compartment?
I think you’d to cut off their Hypalon zipper pullers and buy new lockable ones from Amazon
Love your review! I am really interested in this one. The other backpack I was looking at is the LINUS BACKPACK from Linus Tech Tips. That one is NOT waterproof like this Sympl one is. Have you seen or heard about that Linus Backpack? It's a 100% Polyester at 900D...Will it be at least as durable??
Heard many things about it but haven’t reviewed it yes. This bag is not waterproof but is highly water resistant, the 900D will similarly help protect against the elements, but not as much as the SYMPL bag
@@Nomads.Nation what a fast reply! You're awesome! I hope you're backpack creation is going well 😎
@@spencerstmars4882 I love this community! Always respond to every comment myself as fast as possible. Thanks for the kind words
13:32 Agree to let you be wrong.
you PC-ers are so cute ;)
Any thoughts on this versus the Able Carry Max for carrying a 17” laptop?
Can’t say for sure cuz I only have a 13 inch, but if both brands clearly advertise that the bags fit your specific laptop then I’d go with Able Carry
does it respect the ryanair size limits for the underseat bag?
Not sure, I recommend checking RyanAir requirements and cross checking with the dimensions of the bag you are interested in buying
Can you review the incase arc commuter?
Added to our (very very very long) list 😊
Really wanted to jump on this for an upcoming trip, but they told me theyre out of stock and not restocking until December :(
Save the date!
Hello there! Is there a false bottom in the laptop compartment?
a small one I think yes
How tall are you? I can't fully understand how big this bag is. I'm short so this might look ridiculous on me.
5’8
Let’s see a review on the Warroad tarmac travel pack
Never heard of it, I’ll check it out
@@Nomads.Nation it’s a hockey brand backpack. Seems nice but I’d really like to see what you have to say.
@@hulkingwarmachine3 cool! Just to manage expectations it's extremely unlikely I'll be able to get my hands on one, but I'll keep it on the radar for sure :)
Okay, I don't really care about their values so much. Just one question... Is this backpack going to hold up too heavy use over time? I'm seriously looking at the osprey farpoint and the peak design travel backpack. This looks really cool. But looks don't mean durable.
Based on my briefer experience - I would say yes. It uses high quality weatherproof materials and was very well constructed and well stitched.
@@Nomads.Nation Thank you!
i think backpacks are behind the times with budget airline regulations. now carry-on is less than 35l, it's whatever fits under seat, so like a briefcase or messenger size
Carry-on backpacks can easily be this size. Under-seat are classified as personal items…that’s where this particular backpack would not fit. Their Weekender Backpack would probably be a “personal item”.
this should be fine as a carry on on many airlines. Def won’t fit under the seat though
You did realize you proposed putting it under the seat in your video? (Was rewatching your video and noticed that.)@@Nomads.Nation
@@arlencarlson ah thanks, it def depends on the situation/airline/employee
Everyone is a critic 😅
In your opinion, what is the perfect travel backpack?
No such thing lol, even for me it depends how long I’m traveling, where I’m travelling, what I’m doing while traveling, etc. But check out a video I did called ‘my 7 favorite bags’ - that’ll get you on the right track 💪🏾
amiigo- unusual -))
❤️
2nd :)
Basically first ;)
Thought about getting one, but the excessive branding is an oxymoron to the name. Getting an Aer instead.
lol it’s true, but good news is I think they have toned down their branding significantly in new versions of the bag
@@Nomads.Nation Oh great! Will look into that instead. Thank you.
It's missing a solar panel.
loll
Love the bag but the branding literally all over is a no go.
It’s not super obnoxious at any point thank god but def could be toned down
Sympl with the least simple branding lol
It wasn’t quite overkill, but could def be toned down a bit lol. Having said that - great bag
"This backpack has too much branding." Says the guy holding his Starbucks cup, wearing his adidas sneaks.
I think that when it comes to backpacks, less branding is better as it gives it a more premium look. Thanks for watching!
Nomatic Better
more features, that's for sure!
Branding overload for sure. Too. Much. Branding.
A bit heavy BUT not a deal breaker as far as I’m concerned. The locations are subtle enough, it’s not like it’s ever slapped obnoxiously in large font in one area
Too much branding; definitely not for me.
They are about to release V2 and they tell me they toned down their branding a lot (thank god lol)
