    I just finished watching this amazing series. As someone who has only been turning for about six months now, I found it to be a wealth of information. There are plenty of short videos on turning out there. They are entertaining but tend to gloss over a lot of the how’s and why’s us novices need to learn to improve our craft. Thank you.

    A big thanks Jimmy for taking the time out to do the series and for posting.
    As with all the other comments, I learned so much of the necessary details required to take almost any bowl turning to the next level. That burl is absolutely stunning, your turning skills and finishing techniques have done it a right ROYAL JUSTICE - wicked.
    You mentioned towards the end of part 5 we would be seeing more of you in the future on youtube - that would be smashing. Got to say brilliant camera work too - thanks to the camera person for being on the ball and getting the necessary in the picture.
    Looking forward to your next adventure, until then, regards and best wishes.
    Tony.

    An incredible piece of wood whose beauty was expertly revealed by a true master turner. I sat here spellbound watching all five parts. Your commentary added so much practical knowledge for me. I'll need to watch this several times to absorb all your tips and advice. I'll be watching all your other videos as a new subscriber. Superb!

    Hi Jimmy, I have just finished watching this series of videos and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I am really surprised that you don’t do more on UA-cam but maybe you have been too busy with other work and demonstrations. I do hope you are still loving it out in Vegas and that you are managing to keep out of the casinos😂😂😂. Keep up the great work Jimmy, you still have the gift certainly. Thanks for sharing.

    Thank you for this, Jimmy! This series is my first visit to your channel, boy have I been missing a lot. Every video has either taught me a new approach, helped me understand why the things that work for me work or what I’ll stop doing. Special bonus, all while watching the transformation of a beautiful burl into an heirloom piece to last the ages. Many thanks 🙏

    I just finished the last of the 5 parts. Such great instructional content. Great explanation of many key points. I learned, I learned and I learned. Your sense of the "right" line for the curve is something I don't have but you have caused me to try harder! Can't wait to try some of the techniques on my next bowl. Oh, and the wood is just magnificent. Thank you so much.

    Great to see you're not filling in holes with resin like so many do. Cheers

    • @oo0Spyder0oo
      @oo0Spyder0oo 4 роки тому +1

      @michael knowlden I think the word you're looking for is resent. Before resin those cracks and holes were always a part of what makes wood wood and not plastic. It's just become a trend like tattoos now. Non of my clients have ever disliked wood with holes and knots or cracks, it adds to the work. Nothing should aid or save the piece, holes are part of nature's gems.

    • @oo0Spyder0oo
      @oo0Spyder0oo 4 роки тому

      @michael knowlden Sorry but resemble means something different to what you're saying. If you don't agree then you would resent my statement, if you resemble something you appear/look like the object. You may do what I dislike but you don't resemble that, you disagree. Anyhow, each to their own, I like wood for its organic nature and dislike people polishing them to a plastic finish and filling them with decoration, it's become a trend because x amount of youtubers do it and all the followers make like sheep to do the same. But as I said, each to their own.

    A really beautiful bowl, Jimmy. Question for you: why didn't you use any of your Mate Tools during the turning?

    • @jimmyclewes
      @jimmyclewes  4 роки тому

      Hi George , the Mate Tools were developed to help beginners remove wood by cutting not scraping , not that scraping is wrong , but cutting I feel is more efficient and safer. The Mate tools can be useful to both beginners and more experienced turners.They remove wood quickly and efficiently.
      I wanted to show turning a bowl using Bowl gouges and discussing techniques.
      Thanks for your kind comments George
