Sitting here crying while watching this. No one ever told me about possible radiation long term side effects following treatment for tonsil cancer. I have been thinking for months that I’m crazy and neurotic. It hurts to hold my head up (told I must be on my iPad too much), my jaw aches a lot, my neck and shoulder hurt all the time. I’m 56, and despite being active, I feel 90!
Now I have to find someone that not only believes me, but can treat me!

I had tonsil cancer, and the full package, with radiation , Chemo and sugery... I am left with cronical pain in my face, so severe that I can not work.. I have tried different pain clinics, and they all gave up on me.... I think its my pain is from the 34 days of radiation...

Oh my god. I haven't had radiation yet. 75 year old, lumpectomy clear margins, clear lymph nodes. I don't think I want it!!!

I had two surgeries (not radical); chemo and rads 14 years ago because of TONSIL cancer. I have debilitating neck pain everyday. It's a constant worry and difficult to know what to do.

@@virginiawaters6076 I had my treatment at age 48. I'm now 62, and despite the discomfort I've had a great life. The fibrosis is a pain in the neck, but life is good.

thank you Sloan Kettering for putting this out because I'm trying hard not to write the names of my oncologist and radiation oncologist, who is "the best in the city" who claimed it was not radiation that caused my muscle pain to my thighs, gluteus muscles and lower back after pelvic radiation. AND they didn't know what the muscle pain could be and NO other patient had ever complained of it. There are enough people writing on the internet about this pain that, how could they not know about this fibrosis.

THIS THIS THIS THIS. I had radiation to my hips (rectal cancer) in 1997. I can barely walk without hip pain and burning feet. I unable to find any one who understand this let alone can treat it. Even multiple oncologists and radiation oncologist.

Yeah, it's hell on earth. Thanks Army for putting me at the most contaminated place in America. If I had to do over, I never would have gotten treatment. This life isn't worth living.

Thanks for this. was never told about the problems from throat radiation. Also had to have a stent put in my carotid artery because they fried it with the radiation.

There is almost no information or acknowledgment of a rare but devastating side effect of RT: radiation-induced brachial plexopathy. I had hoped Sloan Kettering would have info about this terrible side effect.
