    Thank you for your honest information. As a retired R.N. and researched pre and post radiation treatments to my spine, and the damage from radiation was not being found in my studying. Radiation Oncologists did not explain the side effects. I have multiple beneign aggresstive hemangiomas of my spine from T1 to T12, Lumber 1,2,3 and sacral and into the iliac crest. My MRI's from 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 all show the growth of each hemangiomas and the spread of them. Example no hemangiomas in sacral and iliac crest in 2018. Now they are there in 2022/21 MRI's and painful. I had radiation through the abdomen to the Lumbar area in December 2021 to stop the growth of the larger hemangiomas. In May 2022, due to my NAFLD and increased liver area pain and swelling of liver; I had ultrasound and liver biopsy which now shows NASH/Fibrosis 2 and 3 and cirrhosis. (one year prior, ultrasound and fibroscan showed only NAFLD). I don't drink due to religion. My quality of life is next to nil due to pain of liver and lower spine and refuse narcotics for pain relief. I do have COPD and some heart issues and on oxygen for any exertion X 8 years. No doctor has told me about this fibrosis from radiation. My quesiton: did radiation treatments cause F2-F3 fibrosis to my liver (leading to the cirrhosis)? Thank you for your video. Excellent and easy to follow.

    Thank you, Dr., for sharing all this information! Radiation oncologists don't begin to cover possible side effects with their patients - they just sugar coat it (like all oncologists do). I finished 31 radiation treatments 5 months ago and now suspect that I have radiation fibrosis in left breast. Going next week for MRI to determine if it's "only" lymphedema! Thank you again!

    5 months chemo, DMX with 19 lymph nodes removed and now on 25 of 30 radiation then 2yr chemo pill then 10 yrs hormone blockers. I may be "cancer free" soon....but WHY...My Quality of life is ZERO!! Lymphodema vest 24hr daily for life....its ridiculous!!! 👎

    Is it painful? My mom had radiation in2019 and chemo and is in a lot of pain and all the doctors don’t know why

    • @buzzkill5480
      @buzzkill5480 2 роки тому +7

      They know why but won't tell the patient. If patient's well fully informed about the early as well as late onset side-effects, many would refuse cancer treatment.
      Cancer will take years off of your life but so will cancer treatments. And, the debilitating pain from either the cancer or its treatment is likely the same.

      @@buzzkill5480 My radio oncologist actually said the following to me. When I asked about lymphedema, he said, oh that isnt going to happen to you, you are going to feel better with each radiation treatment because you will be that much farther from your chemo treatments (which I had first) I had 35 radio therapy sessions and I have moderate lymphedema, had I known how un pleasant life would be after radiation, I would have refused it all together, in fact had I known my quality of life would be so poor after 16 rounds of chemo, massive chemo induced neuropathy, fibrosis from the radiation and the scar tissue issues. If I had to do it all over again I would just let the MF tumor grow. Sorry but I am pissed off that these Drs lied.

      He's not selling anything. He's sharing the truth about the effects of radiation & to a lesser extent, chemotherapy. They're highly toxic & will kill a patient sooner or later.

    And yet lumpectomy + radiation for breast cancer routinely is sold to women instead of mastectomy, with no mention of what harm breast radiation can cause. Something to consider.

    Thank you for explaining so well something my radiation oncologist never addressed. All he ever said was "you'll be fine", he did not even suggest doing any exercises at home or seeing a PT therapist who specializes in cancer rehab. I am 4 months post radiation for breast cancer and the tightening of my underlying tissues, muscles etc. is progressing even with therapy.

    I had radiation, surgery and chemo in 1992-1993. The surgery involved removal of breast tumor plus 14 lymph nodes under the arm. Back then, they just blasted one's entire upper quadrant. Fast forward to 2017. For the past 7 years, I have been suffering with thoracic outlet syndrome, myofascial adhesions throughout my left quadrant, debilitating TMJ issues, including oromandibular dystonia, caused by the fibrotic tissue pulling down. on my jaw. My bite is off, causing nerves that run through the TMJ to be terribly disturbed. My quality of life is nil, unless I have PT frequently, do prescribed exercises compliantly, stay away from various foods, etc. I've spent so much money on every modality possible (accupuncture, chiropractic, craniosacral therapy, etc.), that my retirement is at financial risk. I wish I could afford to go to Dr. Kettering's clinic!

    I was recently diagnosed with Osteoradionecrosis of my left ribs 9 months after my second course of whole breast radiation. My first radiation treatment was 18 years previously.
    So far I have 5 rib fractures that did not show up on X-ray. My doctors do not know what to do.
