The fact that someone can do any of this... WILD

Thank you GDQ, Zom, werdwerdus, ZephyrGlaze, WDRM and chezmix for showcasing SMX! Especially Teams! That Disconnected Disco score is sick.

45:42 easily one of the most fun charts I've ever seen in a rhythm game!

If someone is already used to DDR, how hard is it to get used to the center panel? That is throwing me off hard trying to follow along with the charts. Awesome gameplay. I love the silly way the Team chart for Disconnected Disco ends.

Not as hard as you think. Because the other 4 panels are layed out in a familiar way, adding the center panel (that you probably were already stepping on anyway) in SmX feels a lot more natural than say DDR to Pump. What actually took me the longest to get used to were the pads; SmX pads are basically a flat surface, and it turns out I was relying on feeling the brackets with my feet on DDR arcade pads to find my way around. Having said that, the actual construction of the pads and the touchscreen navigation of the game itself are top notch arcade experiences.

I hate the center panel to do stair progression is messed up you cant just go from left down up right it throws off the flow of that.

The center panel takes a little getting used to, but not much. I find it adds a lot of variety and some interesting new patterns that you can't get with just 4 panels

It takes a bit of adjusting, mostly from using a different form as to not accidentally push the button when stepping on one of the other arrows. But the adjustment period isn't usually longer than a few weeks of play regardless of skill level

As a somewhat experienced DDR player and first time playing StepmaniaX recently, I will tell you that the centre pad is freaking confusing. Especially with crossovers.

Awesome showcase! Zephyr, Chez, and WDRM killed it, especially the team mode charts!

I've never played stepmania, but I have played Pump it Up, and a ton of DDR. I actually found that in DDR Doubles there is bracketing in at least 1 D16 chart that I tried. I was able to get through it, but it was interesting to see that considering the pad layout.

It's a StepmaniaX stage, comes with the StepmaniaX arcade cabinet. They have sold the stages by themselves in the past, but they're very expensive (1700 USD plus shipping) and sell out almost instantly every time. I haven't seen them go on sale since November 2022, though, presumably because they've been busy making and distributing their StepmaniaX Deluxe cabinets.
